“Because we are lucky enough to live in the beautiful Cowichan Valley we are at the Leeward Cafe on an almost weekly basis. The food is always scrumptious and the staff welcoming, friendly and courteous. We love the ambience of dining in the clean and cozy cafe but in fair weather we bring our own mugs, which the staff happily fill, and we sit on the quaint benches out back and enjoy the boats and birds. The Leeward Cafe and its sister business True Grain Bakery are delightful!”

“Three nights in Cowichan Bay, two nights at The Vine. Reservations for both. First night was three of us, my wife and I both had the Hunter Schnitzel, our friend had the mussels. Both were excellent , service was very patient with us because we were busy talking and hadn’t chosen wine or looked at the menu for about 30 minutes. Never a complaint, no reason to, everything was perfect.Second night was five of us, including a three year old toddler. Our niece ordered Rockfish and fries, her partner ordered a burger, my wife ordered lamb sirloin, I ordered beef bourguignon I was stunned, I’ve had beef bourguignon in Vancouver, Montreal, Manhattan, Paris. I’ve had it overcooked in a French Restaurant and done properly in other places, but this…… was incredible, unbelievably good. The best I have ever enjoyed. Wanted to thank the chef in person however he was too busy. “My wife and I love the Cow Bay view from booths, and overall restaurant ambiance, but it is the food that brings us back. Seafood Linguini, and the Katsu Bowl are favourites. In fact, we’ve just done take out orders of 2 Katsu Bowls, 2nd time in a week. This is a most excellent taste sensation, a combination of Thai (peanut & coconut) Japanese (Katsu crispy chicken) and creamy chow mein noodles with veggies. Try It! Yummy!”

“Popped in tonight to grab a bite to eat (Solo) before I had to scoot to my shop for the last ladies night. I tried the Lamb Jalfrezi!! What a delight! Lamb was cooked to perfection, and super tender, the veggies (peppers) still had some crunch, beautifully blended spices, basmati also cooked perfectly... I would have LICKED my bowl...however, had some soft buttery Naan to wipe the bowl clean!! My waitress (I'm sorry, I didn't ask you name... you know who you are!!). Lovely, young lady, took the time to chat a bit... it was just what I needed!! Thank you!”

“Stopped in on our way home to Nanaimo from Victoria. Very cool little ice cream truck in the parking lot near the Thrifty Foods. We had a couple of sundaes. The Strawberry one was very good, but the Black Forest one was amazing. The ice cream is vegan but you would never know. It didn’t have a strong coconut flavour which I do not care for. The prices were reasonable, comparable to other home made ice cream shops. There is a nice shaded seating area and you would never know you are in a parking lot. We will be back when passing though.”

“Came here for dinner on the weekend, were lucky enough to see Fawkes and Hownd playing a set. Great vibes! We got to experience the performance while waiting for our table.The food was pretty good, though a little pricey. The server was really friendly, but could have visited the table a bit more.The cafe is structurally very cool inside. Definitely a unique spot!”
