“Wow!!! Delicious food and great service!!!! Get the paella. It is soo yummy!!!We need more restaurants like this. It is owner run and operated. He kindly greeted us at the door. And visited us throughout the meal to make sure we were doing great. His warmth is felt throughout the restaurant. And it is also reflected in the quality of food.Such a treat to have a restaurant with great food and care near our home.“

“I'm in awe. We ordered from here for a work lunch, I had never heard of this place prior and now I can't wait to go back. I ordered a chicken schwarma in a pita and WOW. The pita was so fluffy, packed with meat and fillings, the sauce had so much flavor. I can't recommend this place more!“

“I was very happy to find this Mediterranean place in Alameda. You order either a pita, wrap, or bowl, and then you customize it however you want. You can choose a protein then add the extras you want. Some of the extras cost extra, but there are also plenty of free extras as well. Some of the free extras (like beets) are pretty skimpy though. One thing I learned is there are different types of couscous. I've always been accustomed to the Israeli couscous, which are tiny pearl-like pastas. But here, they have Moroccan couscous, which is more like a grain. This tasted great in the salad. What we had..+ Chicken shawarma wrap - Very well put together and very tasty. However, it was a bit smaller than wraps from Kebab Shop or Halal Guys.+ Chicken shawarma bowl - I added a lot of extras, and somehow it all tasted great together. The hummus was quite a bit thicker than I'm used to. The texture wasn't conducive to mixing with your salad or for dipping your pita in, but still very tasty.Overall, this was a happy find.“

“Simply delicious. Troy is conveniently located right across the Alameda Theater. I had the lamb kebab plate. The lamb was perfectly tender, juicy and flavorful. The same for the chicken kebab platter as well. The hummus appetizer was creamy and the bread was soft on the inside with a perfect crunch on the outside. Their green hot sauce—wooo!I was tempted to take it home. I kept dropping some on my rice which was fluffy, moist and with a nice saffron aroma.Last, but not least, the customer service was just superb.“

“I go for the Greek salad ? I usually add some type of protein shrimp or chicken and it's one of the best salads that I ever had especially since I'm trying to lose weight and I love the way these salads are made I don't like cucumbers and I was able to eat the cucumbers in the salad so the salad had to be pretty good for me to eat cucumbers and I can't stand cucumbers all of my life“

“So glad I came here. Plenty of parking at Safeway. Walked directly across the street into the alley to find this hole in the wall gem. Was immediately given a lentil soup and water as soon as I sat down. Ordered a steak burrito which was massive. All delicious food. Low key vibes. Not busy at all. Cash only. ATM available in the restaurant. Nice people working there.Parking: Park at Safeway and walk across the street.“

“Ok so Shawarmaji has all the makings of a restaurant that’s about to get BIG.Incredible, authentic Jordanian food, cool clean and colorful aesthetic, and expanding literary as I was eating in the restaurant (new location coming pictured here across the street). Got the chicken shawarma arabi style and WOWOWOWOW, so good. The trio of hummus, toum, and garlic suace was utterly divine to go with the wrap and fries. The home made pickles on the side were also perfect freshener to cut the heaviness of the meal.Went just before lunchtime to beat the rush as it’s a popular lunch spot for people working in downtown Oakland. Only downside of the experience was that as soon as I ordered, the food was ready. Like the food had already been prepared in advanced and was not all the way hot anymore. I get that they need too stay ahead of the lunch rush, but stomach eventually got rocked. No regrets as it was a very good meal, just keep an eye out for that. I’m would have happily waited longer for HOT food.“

“Don't let the lack of a vibey vibe deter you from the tasty quick and no-nonsense items they dish up. I had the Thai Salad Wrap and it was super nice and tasty, simple and fresh. The peanut sauce was just as they describe it on their menu . . . I'll butcher it but something like, "really good peanut sauce." And indeed it was. It was light and punchy and I hope that's how it is all the time.Also, it was great service. She helped me decide between a Turkey Pesto Panini and the wrap. I appreciate that in the age of poor service/post-covid era.“

“Zaytoon provided a wonderful dining experience for my family. My mother had her heart set on Moussaka, but there were so many amazing options that she never even ordered it! I was afraid I wouldn't find enough vegetarian options for myself, but the cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and hummus with mushrooms were perfection! The service was impeccable even on a busy night like Mother's Day, and the drinks were delicious. We'll be back very soon!“

“My boss is vegan (pesca) and I'm not. He was more than happy with this find. Great menu, quick, fresh, attractive food and great value. Dining room is both elegant and comfortable. Servers are prompt, smart and pleasant. Even simple things like water and iced tea were elevated. And the price is right, hasn't jacked up as much as the average. Every time I'm there I'm surprised they are not more crowded because it's great. I'm still looking forward to acquainting myself the full bar some evening!!Vegetarian options: With the magic of falafel and fresh hummus, fresh lavish with wonderful dipping oil, Greek in general and this spot in particular are perfect for vegans.“

“Excellent food. The lamb shashlik was delicious. Also the large, varied platter of appetizers. We were there on a Sunday at noon and there were not many others at that time, so there was hardly any noise which was good for me. I will definitely return to try other dishes, or maybe have the lamb again . . . . Highly recommend.“

“This is my go to lunch spot near campus. Good food made by friendly people at a reasonable price that doesn't make you feel bloated. The veggies are always fresh and crunchy. There's limited seating but they have a few tables. Everything is kept clean which is reassuring.“
