So Close I’m on a mission to find the best breakfast in mid-Pinellas County. Remy’s is right up there, but just shy of being the best. The café is clean, nicely decorated and welcoming. Staff is pleasant. Air conditioning and fans, unfortunately, blow down, cooling the food too fast. I got the standard thing: 2 eggs scrambled (fine), ham (delicious and one of the best) and grits. Why are grits the downfall of so many local cafes?! Texture was OK, but they were bland! I upgraded the included regular toast to French toast. This is one of the best French toasts I’ve had in these parts. While the bread slices were thick, they were properly cooked and not soggy in the middle (woohoo!) There was even a slice of orange on the plate (albeit dried out). Coffee was, by café standards, strong and good. The correct score should be 4.5 stars, but I’ll gladly round up because of the ham and French toast. Sooo close—just fix the grits.
