Root & Bone Reviews
Root & Bone is our favorite restaurant in Miami. Always love to arrive in time for a couple of half-priced cocktails and discounts on their smaller appetizer plates. On our last visit (3/28/24), we started off with a Strawberry Lady and a Julia Sugarbaker: you know the drinks are delicious when you don’t even notice the alcohol content. Our first round of food consisted of the Drunken Deviled Eggs, Grandma Daisy’s Angel Biscuits, the Sticky Pork Belly Bacon, and the Fried Green Tomato BLT. While one of us couldn’t get past eating eggs dyed purple due to the pickled beets, the honey chicken jus that accompanied the biscuits was a unexpectedly subtle delight, the assorted collection of components that went into the BLT all melded together beautifully, and the sticky bacon? Well, let’s just say that you simply couldn’t eat them one at a time; my hand kept going back for more. We were so impressed with our waiter, who came out to take our next order for drinks before happy hour ended, even though we hadn’t finished with our first ones yet, just to make sure that we could still enjoy the special pricing (50% off) for Happy Hour, held every Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 each night. My husband stuck with vodka and tried the Promise Ring, which paired nicely with his Meatloaf Brisket and Cheddar Corn Spoonbread, which he had to admit, did turn out even better than what his mama served every Friday night. He didn’t speak much eating the brisket, which is always a good sign. I switched things up and moved from bourbon to tequila, trying the Free Bird to go along with my more traditional half order of Fried Chicken that I had to pair with the buckwheat waffle and yes, I want the cheddar cheese on that! Really was hard to pick a favorite out of the dishes that we tried, as they all really were outstanding, compared to the normal hit and miss you get at other restaurants. Our only regret is not leaving enough room for dessert: the Banana Crème Brûlée and the Chocolate Skillet Brownie with Fluffernutter toppings would have to wait for a subsequent visit. Delicious food, attentive staff, romantic setting: what more could you possibly ask for in a night out on the town? You need to come and check this place out…
The food is absolutely amazing and never disappoints! Brunch is my favorite…small plates of deliciousness to share…the service is always exceptional! Today was national avocado day and the avocado toast was to die for!
