“We are always looking for restaurants that serve healthy real food that also offers gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options and this one is excellent. I loved the bowl I ordered: the perfect blend of ginger, peanut and cilantro atop rice with broccoli, pickled onions and shredded carrot with a flavorful sauce…yum. Our whole family enjoyed our meals. We also got cookies and my only regret is that I didn’t buy more. The GF ginger molasses one I got was so good. We live far away, but I will keep this on my list of places to return. If only all towns had a place like this! “Sometimes, a friend will take you to a birthday dinner at La Rana and because he snuck away and paid for all the drinks at his own birthday dinner a while back, you want to get him back and pay for the drinks at your own.Well, these waiters and waitresses will help you with that. Even if your friend pulls a lot of weight in the community.And also, the food and service is spectacular.”

“Wonderful wine, scenery, and customer service. So many choices of wine and they have really good warm samiches! We got the turkey sandwich and the tomato pesto. Both amazing. We had wine wallets and use them to get free tastings. We went home with a few bottles. Great place to visit!”

“Hotel Winneshiek is a great hotel located in the heart of Downtown Decorah. The staff are very welcoming and accommodating and always do their best to make you feel welcome. I would highly suggest visiting the bar and sitting outside for a cocktail. Lots going on here - would be a great place to have a wedding! We will be back.”

“We always enjoy visiting Don Jose Family Restaurant. It's good food and friendly service in an upbeat and clean authentic atmosphere. The portions are large so you might want to share or take some home. The cocktail offerings are also terrific, with some delicious margaritas among many others.Parking: The parking lot is small, but there's usually street parking available nearby.”

“Mabes is a decades-long family favorite. Whenever we're near Decorah, we make a point to stop by Mabes for a large-regular pizza. What is a regular, you ask? That's a thin crust pepperoni and sausage pizza, and it's my family's favorite.The service is always fast and friendly too.I can't speak to other items on the menu because we are creatures of habit, but we've never been disappointed.”

“Food, service, and ambiance are all 5 stars. Walk in the store and you are immediately transported back to the 50's with a collection of antique goodies and stark white walls. Seating is available on the first floor, upstairs, and on the second floor balcony providing an overview of downtown Decorah. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I cannot say enough about the ice cream desserts. Yummy!”

“Checks all the boxes traditional breakfast but the pie has me smitten. Lemon curd handpie perfect crust followed up with Boston cream pie. Wonderful day! Back again whole apple pie I knew that crust was more solf and flaky than just butter I had to ask yep it was lard! ”

“Late-night eats. Our server was attentive and helpful. Noticed we were camels and brought us a pitcher of water. The food was delicious. Music was loud enough to enjoy without distracting the conversations. Plenty of tv's to enjoy sports if that is your thing. Cool decor adds to the atmosphere. If we are ever back in Decorah we will be back.”

“Perfect family diner experience. Each time we go there the wait staff make you feel at home. Coffee cups are quaint and a bit smallish but the wait staff keep them bottomless. Servings are large and you can't help but eat them all. The worst part of eating here is not having room for dessert. But they got you covered cause you can take your pie to go. Did I mention they have sour cream raisin pie???”
