“I was treated to a birthday dinner this past weekend at Rooted Rotisserie and I must say everything about this establishment was 20/10!!!!! The ambiance was beautiful. I love the familial atmosphere and the beautiful photos of the owners’ families. The music was wonderful and brought me back to my childhood- with the old school Ghanaian music. Now… THE FOOD. BEYOND Delicious and I have been raving about it nonstop. The flavors were perfect and the presentation, beautiful. For appetizers, we started off with the wings and shrimp plates. I had the Salmon for dinner and loved it. My table also had the braised short rib, duck confit, Mac and cheese, and braised greens. Everything was perfect and paired perfectly with our sorrel/lemonade carafe. This has, by far, become one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV and I will be looking for any and every reason to go back over and over again. To Amanda, the owner: you and your family have created a gem! Thank you for being such a gracious host and creating such a wonderful space!“

“Let’s get one this straight! This is the SPOT! The experience began with me running behind for my reservation because I-95 traffic is a..well we all know..so in calling the restaurant to alert them my first taste of Marta was Nick, who answered the phone in such a warm and friendly manner I felt welcomed even before my arrival! Now I will say parking is a challenge..but rise up to this challenge..be persistent..because once you’re safely parked you will reap amazing culinary rewards. The space itself..it beautifully done..muted colors and comfortable seating seem to say “ sit..get comfortable and get ready for a great time” Our server Michael was a JOY. Just as important as the food, is the service, Michael made sure that we were comfortable, answering all questions and providing excellent recommendations when they were asked for. No one could have asked for a better tour guide to lead our Marta experience..when making reservations..request him..I promise you won’t be disappointed. Appetizers! Tuna Cannoli..if you think you know tuna..I’m here to say NAW! This dish was whimsical and full of flavor. The tuna was fresh and prefect encased in a light cannoli shell..the sesame seeds tied the whole dish together for me perfectly. Beef tartare(my personal favorite) vibrant color and palate pleasing flavors! I like the addition of beets in place of the traditional capers. Even my one friend who hates beets agrees that it brought a great element to this dish. Oysters! Perfectly briny and chilled expertly the pink peppercorn granita was Everything! Entrees: I enjoyed the Agnolotti which was a fall themed plate of warm comfort food! The spiced squash and apple stuffed pasta was so flavorful..but just when you thought it couldn’t get better, BOOM! Brown butter sage sauce! Please do yourself a favor..make your reservation to enjoy this dish before it goes away..you won’t regret it. The risotto my friend enjoyed with the meatballs from the antipasti menu was creamy and honestly had me making my next reservation in my head so I could enjoy it all by myself! Saffron Brodo, Aged Parmesan, bring this dish home! He couldn’t stop raving about the meatballs and I know they must have been great because he didn’t share..lol My dear friend ordered the Panzotti featuring stuffed Duck and Foie Gras! All components of this dish worked together to create perfection! Wine list..well thought out and composed. When our initial choice was temporarily unavailable, cue Nick with a perfect recommendation for an alternative bottle! Desserts..we ordered them all..don’t judge..lol..we couldn’t decided..lol..and you only live once! In addition to ordering them all..you bet the 3 of us finished them all too! So no further details required..I just suggest you make sure to save room for at least one of these sweet temptations..really any one..you won’t regret it! So this concludes my most epic review..of a most epic experience! Thank you Marta..it was truly wonderful!“

“Definitely old-school bougie (white table cloths, sommelier with a 50+ page wine list, cheese cart, and 4-6 course tasting menus), but don't get me wrong, I won't turn my nose up at a fancy fine-dining experience. Especially since you often get to taste flavors and try fare that you wouldn't normally be able to find at just any establishment. And for the most part, Charleston didn't disappoint. The scallop course was cooked to perfection, the breaded oysters were amazing - fried on the outside and creamy on the inside - it is RARE to get oysters that perfectly fried. My favorite dish was probably the duck. I am a fan of duck in all its forms... greasy over rice, fried and slathered in a bbq sauce... but this was on the scale of a dish I had in DC, where the duck was so tender it was like eating a seared, well-rested steak. Honest, perfection.I was a little disappointed in the white truffle fettuccini and their desserts. They had no wow factor like the rest of the meal and the pasta dish didn't even have real truffles. At over $200 per person for 5 courses, I would have expected a few shavings on the miniscule portion. But, 6 out of 8 of our party loved that dish, so maybe I am being too picky :)The restaurant itself is intimate and upscale, but still approachable. Most guests were dressed up, so it is definitely FANCY, but there is no specific dress code, or at least not one that is enforced from what I could tell. Our party of 8 was seated back in what I am going to call the wine room, where we were surrounded by dimly lit shelves of wine - it was old world and romantic and we had a delightful time.Their wine list is overwhelming - I am not kidding when I said it was over 50 pages! I asked for a Brunello and the Sommelier told me to turn to page 57... 57!!!! So, if you don't know what you are looking for or what might pair well with your upcoming courses, I would suggest asking for a recommendation.I also think our party-size was a little overwhelming for the staff. I am not sure they are used to serving that many people at once. There were times that the food didn't come out all at once, which is awkward for the pacing when you are eating a coursed meal, and one dessert came out a full 5 minutes after the rest of the table's. I know this is nit-picky, but it's an expensive meal at one of the premier restaurants in Baltimore, I would have just thought it would have been a little better coordinated. But, like I said, we had a big group. A smaller group may not have the same experience. Despite that though, the waiters and staff were friendly and helpful, explaining the dishes and the wine-pairings that came with them.<3 All-in-all, I would recommend. It was a fun experience, very enjoyable meal, made all the better with a group of friends <3“

“Looking for a local place to eat instead of a food chain? This is a must! We were visiting from Texas and found this place online. Great food! Friendly service! We ate breakfast there twice and wished we had found it earlier on our trip! Menu mentioned that they prefer cash since they are a small business.“

“We had the fried green tomatoes as our first appetizer. They were tender and topped with lumps of crabmeat. Spectacular! Then we had the fried cheese appetizer. I can’t remember the name of the cheese, but it was delicious in the accompanying sauce and olive oil and pesto. All of the dishes we had came out perfect. My filet medallions were so tender, they melted in my mouth. Hubby got the pork loin over mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts and loved it. We will definitely come back!“

“Possibly one of the best bourbon selections in the city, and easily one of the best burgers around. The food is incredible. It's a little pricey, but as always you get what you pay for. The bartenders are awesome and very knowledgeable. It was insanely busy when we went, but the service stayed on-point. All it took was one visit and this place has become one of my favorite bars in Baltimore.“

“Been going to Jake's for years and before that Shorty's (Jake's Dad) at old location. Stopped by on a Saturday for a pit beef Sammy. Ordered rare and that puppy was in my hands in 30 seconds. Grabbed some onions and their tiger sauce and drove home to eat. It was delicious & a huge portion and under $9. Normal people could almost split it but of course I devoured the whole thing w some chips. The guys who work here are awesome and have the whole process down to a science. Nice people to boot. I am a fan of their ribs and their in house bbq sauce too. I do not get there often since trying to cut back on red meat but when I need pit beef, this is my spot.“

“I went with out-of-town guests who thoroughly enjoyed their meals. There were a few glitches along the way: one friend ordered a spinach salad and was served a mixed green salad instead; another ordered a local beer with his lunch which was forgotten until we asked one of the hosts to check on it; I ordered the same entree I usually order--the salmon alla bella.. Unfortunately, everything was just lukewarm and the spinach had so much garlic (and I love garlic) that it was almost inedible. I had to stop eating it after a few attempts. Nonetheless, I love Gertrude's and will return.“

“Our excellent waiter, Armani, told us that the sea bass entree was very good, and that's what I ordered. He was right - it was delicious on a bed of wild rice and green beans. I ordered a side of sweet potato and potato soup the start. My glass of Australian Malbec was the perfect accompaniment. Honestly, I've really never had a meal there that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed! Last night everything was great!“

“This is a lovely spot to share a meal and a beer (or few) with some friends after a long day. The draft list is decent - more on the lighter-ale end the last time I visited, which makes sense because it's getting warmer out.The food is superb! Everything that we ordered was filling and decadent, though not too heavy. I was also surprised at number of options - this is definitely not a typical brewery with boring pub fare.Service was a little slow, but I'm glad that we didn't feel rushed out the door. The vibe is very laid-back, and I'm glad that there's a place where I can spend time with neighbors away from the rowdier bars further north. Can't wait to come back and try more :)“

“Perfect way to start AND end a night when visiting Maryland's best comedy club. If you're there with a tab an hour before the show, you can check-in early and skip the line for will call ? (Just ask one of the fabulous bartenders about pre-seating). At the end of the night, stop back in! You'll get half off your first round of drinks after every show! ?Tons of drink and food combinations to try including the "burger of the month", a new late night munchies menu, and so many bourbon and whiskey options to explore! ?And if you're feeling brave, you can try out your jokes at the bar's comedy open mics on Tuesday and Thursday nights.Love this place.Parking: Not just one, but two free parking lots (located on either side of the entrance). To top it off, the bar is walking distance from the Holiday Inn.“

“Place was packed around 10:45 on a Saturday morning, but my waitress swooped in within about 2 mins of sitting down. She was a terrific server - very friendly & attentive with a wonderful smile & personality to boot. Despite being so crowded, the food came out very quickly, much faster than expected. Also, I asked for the potatoes to be "extra crispy" (Restaurants seem to usually serve potatoes either too hard or too mushy), and they were prepared perfectly. We got 2 different Eggs Benedict dishes, and both were outstanding:1. With Avocado and Toast -- delicious!2. With the Duck and Croissant -- never had duck with Eggs Benny before, and it was fantastic.I'll def stop in again sometime.Great experience & food - thanks folks!Parking: Really no street parking, but there is a giant lot across the street that one can slide into for free, but I'm not sure if the apt complex monitors the parking. There is also a giant parking garage (visible from Interstate 83), which I THINK is free (I seem to remember seeing signs for free parking, but I'm not 100% certain)“

“COULDN’T ? EATING IT!My order was for the Nashville hot ? ? combo with ? ? and a 1/2 & 1/2 order of loaded ?. Here’s my breakdown of the 3 items.?: 4.2 of 5.0 * Bun and slaw were very tasty. Sandwich lacked the seasoned hot oil you see with a traditional NHCS. The crisp on the batter was on the lighter side. The chicken breast itself lacked a sort of signature spice that would let you know that’s it’s not plain chicken.? ?: 4.7 of 5.0 * Onions tasted fresh, had a light batter and had good flavor. If I’d been able to eat them there they likely would’ve been higher.?: 4.9 of 5.0. If you come with the expectation that the fries will have any crispness to them like I did you’ll be disappointed. BUT if you let that part go you’ll have a really good experience. I’m sitting here regretting AND NOT regretting how much of those fries I ate. There’s a little sweet, a little savory, a subtle spice then that smooth potato flavor. ???The store is bright, open and inviting. There are some drinks in there that I haven’t seen before but look interesting. The staff was courteous and friendly which is RARE in this zip code. The group that came in after me were greeted like old friends and I feel like that’s a consistent theme with the level of service that I received.I’m 100% coming back here. I’m 100% getting these fries again. The people behind me ordered ? ? ? and it sounded like that wasn’t their first time trying them here. I think I may also try the ?.Nice work and thank you Hauk ?Parking: Decent amount of spots as long as this place and the smoothie place aren’t crowded.“
