“Assuredly, one of my top coffee experiences. I ordered a brewed coffee, my wife a hot latte, and my daughter a kid's steamer. All three drinks were spectacular. I can be very picky about whatever dark roast I drink, and the Bard coffee is a dark roast that doesn't move into smoky or burnt, but instead complex, interesting, and whatever I might imagine the inside of the tastes I get in a coffee. I highly recommend their coffee. I'm usually more interested in a Medium-Dark roast (for reference), and I was so happy with the coffee I had there!“

“We stopped here for dessert on a Saturday night after dinner. The line was pretty long at 9:30 but we made it to the counter in under 15 minutes. I love that you can have unlimited samples and that you can choose as many flavors as you want as long as they will fit in the cup! Everyone that worked there was super nice and helpful. I ordered the smallest size (treat) with raspberry truffle and dark chocolate noir and it was absolutely amazing. Tasted like a raspberry dark chocolate bar in the best way possible. Other delicious flavors that I tried - Sweet Resurgum, Special Hazelnut, Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp and Toasted Coconut. We were back in Portland for dinner two nights later and I suggested we try a different gelato spot but my husband loved Gelato Fiasco so much that we doubled down.“

“The perfect spot for a coffee and sweets, whether to go with mates or to work on the laptop. Great views, open spaces, yummy food and coffee, great prices. The owners have big hearts: Natasha is sweet, while Ted is charming and has many fascinating theories on the nature of existence. Highly recommend!
Vegetarian options: Yummy
Kid-friendliness: Open spaces, understanding and kindhearted owners“

“Last month our flight to Portland was delayed a considerable amount of time due to weather issues and it looked as though we would not be able to make our 5p.m. reservation. My daughter called from the tarmac in Boston where we were rerouted and refueled and explained the situation. The hostess, Susie, was very understanding and compassionate And said that even though our table was booked for another party a 7, we should come in and she would see what she could do. We got there late but Susie greeted us warmly and told us not to worry about being rushed that she had arranged things so no one would be inconvenienced. The atmosphere was warm and cozy; the food so very delicious and our waitperson, Anika, was the best. Atmosphere, impeccable service, food and warmth all rate 5 stars and another visit next time we are in Portland.“
“Black Sesame Foam Hoji blew my mind today. Came in for matcha, got this instead, and really happy about trying a new thing!
My only prior experience (elsewhere) with Hojicha (roasted green tea) was being served hot water with a tea bag of the roasted leaves; today's experience was very different and in every way better.
Hojicha served here is a powder similar to matcha, but rather than the bright green hue of the young unroasted tea leaves, this powder resembles a pale version of cocoa. It is whisked similar to matcha to create a suspension, then they add your choice of milk, and finish it off with a just-sweet-enough black sesame cold foam.
The Hojicha latte had a unique flavor that was both nutty and almost chocolaty. The cold foam was a tad sweet for me, though once mixed with the rest of the drink I thought it worked well, especially as a treat.
Pairs well with their butter mochi :)“

“Coffee By Design in Portland boasts exceptional customer service, with consistently friendly and polite staff. The coffee quality is unparalleled, arguably the best in Southern Maine. The only downside is the wait time, attributed to the shop's perpetual popularity. Despite the minor inconvenience, the overall experience is worth the brief delay for a sip of their outstanding brew.“

“We had a brief one night stop on our Maine roadtrip. Asked recommendations about local beer place in our dinner spot The Highroller Lobster. Girl pointed to the Maps. We had one beer each, but the bartender knew milliliters (which is odd and great at the same time). The Commodores LP was spinning and fullfilling Tuesday's eve experience. I am from Lithuania, so I did not liked the map with soviet union, even I understand this is a piece of history, but it should be hanging in restroom or somewhere in less respectful place. Great beer and atmosphere overall.“

“We came to town for a day and this was my favorite place we visited! From the main section of town it was a tiny walk but that actually worked out because it means on the Saturday afternoon we went it was quiet and there was plenty of tables to choose from! The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathroom was great- they provided menstrual products which means they automatically become awesome in my book. There was a decent selection of games, so my group was able to find a few that we had been eager to try out. We had some beverages as well- we started with coffee and tea and then some folks ended with a drink- all of the items were good. Overall this is absolutely a place I will go back to- I am only sad I don’t live closer because I’d be there every weekend!“
“The breakfast sandwiches, bagels and coffee are amazing!!! Try the tiramisu coffee!! It is amazing!! And the staff is so friendly, you feel like family when you are there. They also offer online ordering if you’re in a rush ….but if you have time, enjoy the cozy seating“

“The Way Coffee Should Be… Great tasting coffee served in a cozy mug, with an open atmosphere to enjoy it in.The people here are good humans, I came in here in a panic because my work nearby had no internet and I had a client in a short amount of time. When I arrived I realized I had forgotten my wallet, the neighborly staff here offered to let me put it on a ticket and come back to pay, all while reassuring me I could stay to use the WiFi as long as I needed. Truly the kind of magic that gets you through a rough start to the day, thanks for being rad humans serving up rad stuff <3“

“I visited the Thames location. The open space atmosphere was very bright and refreshing. Menu was quite particular in terms of beans origins and varieties. I had a lot of questions, but the employee helping me did not really know answers about the specifics on the board. So I just got what seemed healthy and tasty after a quick google of some details. I had the Kenya Gatina AA – washed Batian Ruru with notes of blackberry, caramel, and orange zest. It was far from my typical, and I can appreciate that the coffee was of a good quality, but my experience would've been much more enjoyable if I could've been directed to flavors more suited to my palate. Beautiful view and in an easy to find area!“

“My husband and I have been going to Gorgeous Gelato for years. It's been a while since we've been but last weekend, we decided to introduce our granddaughters to it. The older one enjoyed trying blueberry sorbet and ended up ordering it. The little one is 3 so she opted for vanilla and chocolate. It's just as delicious as we remember. They really make the best gelato in New England. It's the closest one to the ones we had in Italy. Oh, and they have sfogiatelle (pastry filled with sweet ricotta) which was legit. Had one of those in Naples, Italy in 2017. This is not Naples level but it brought me back to the experience nonetheless. It's a bit pricey though (almost $7 each). Their prices have gone up and parking in the the city could be a challenge. These are the only reasons why we don't go more often.“
“I was able to try out a brew before I bought a bunch. Of course the brew was great and I did buy. Thank you!“

“Great vibe, kind employees. A little challenging to find, it's across from Rigby yard in case that helps.
Just got a latte - they have oat milk and honey available.
Amazing art on the walls.
They carry local CBD and herbals.
They also compost & use compostable to-go cups/containers.
The world needs and deserves more of these conscious, healthier places!“

“The donuts here were AMAZING. Easily the best donuts in town (I said what I said). They are made fresh to order and delish! I can’t speak as highly for the iced coffee - my friend ordered two and one had grinds in the bottom and chunky almond milk- the guy making it definitely noticed (he spent an extra minute stirring it and holding it up to the light) and still served it but he’s young so it may just be a training issue. We tossed the coffee after. Either way, it didn’t stop us from making a trip back the next day to get some donuts for the drive home- and eating some right away. I will be back for the donuts anytime I’m in town!“

“I visited here today for my birthday with my mum and partner. The food was amazing and they put a candle in my sausage as it was my birthday. The staff are amazing. I am coeliac and they do gluten free food but can not guarantee it’s not cross contaminated . They took their time to explain this to me and I am very sensitive but the food I had was amazing and they did so well as I wasn’t ill at all. It was my choice to take the risk and they did everything they could to make sure I wasn’t unwell. I highly recommended this cafe and I will be going back in the future .“

“Loads of reviews push tourists to another donut shop but this is the star. We loved the decor and design of the shop, its central location (close to parking) and the vast flavours.
We enjoy the blueberry glaze, Mexican hot chocolate and when pigs fly donuts. We’d go back for all 3! Extremely flavourful, light and tasty.
Hidden gem! ?“

“I've shopped in many Whole Foods across the country. I have family in Portland, Maine, and I visit this Whole Foods on a frequent basis. It is large, well-stocked, and most of all, the different food stations are amazing. Made to order items at the food stations are terrific and make for a nice meal. The hot bar is also excellent. Tasty, excellent food. I look forward to frequenting the store on a regular basis.“

“In a random twist of events, we found ourselves looking for a bite to eat on our way to our hotel in South Portland. We decided to look in the less crowded area of town and happened upon Bread and Olive. The dishes were mostly tapas sized. All of the ingredients seemed fresh and homemade. We had the bread and olives for an appetizer, the Mediterranean Flatbread and the grilled cheese... all of which were delicious. The homemade sourdough was absolutely delectable. The best part about the dishes being smaller is that we had room for dessert, which was a bundt cake. Lastly, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend Bread and Olive!!!“
“Such a cute place. Teas were delicious and it was nice to catch up with Sandra!“

“My 4 star on atmosphere is simply because this location is non-stop busy. That is not remotely anything the staff can change. Tip on food...when ordering food and beverage, make the food requests first, the food comes out usually faster. As for the staff, I think they're awesome. 90% of the time they are awesome - depsite having a job where you stand all day and there is a constant stream of requests! Sure there may be a surly one every once and awhile...but just take a moment to let them know you're glad they're there and they do a complete 360 flip. And...the dog treats are a huge bonus!“

“This was exactly what I was hoping to experience from a diner. The wait staff was friendly and quick. The food was delicious. They have daily specials to mix things up. They also serve the breakfast classics along with some less commonly seen things like stuffed french toast.
Dietary restrictions: I may be mistaken, but I think everything on their menu can be made gluten free upon request. They even have gluten free English muffins which were delicious.
Parking: Their parking lot is just big enough for the amount of customers they can sit at one time. If it's busy, you may have trouble finding parking.
Kid-friendliness: They have highchairs for kids and a typical kids section on the menu. The table cloths are paper and the kids can draw on them.“

“As you can see Dunkin' is going out of donuts. Even their new name says Dunkin’ instead of Dunkin Donuts. Very little donuts now to choose from. Back in the day Dunkin Donuts used to have a whole wall full of different types of donuts and large quantities of each. Now the donut display is slowly shrinking!“

“Nice lady at the window. Honest, genuine person, and not fake nice or unhappy and sullen. Heard the girls in the back laughing and enjoying life, which is nice to hear :^) Can't say about the coffee, as I don't drink it, but the Raspberry smoothie was soooooo good, and definitely the best smoothie I've ever had!! They also have quite a selection of other drinks and food, too! Including bagels, lunch and breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, and even ice cream and milk shakes! I was actually impressed with how extensive the menu is! Location is good, with both sides of the building open to order, making it easy to get to, no matter what direction you are coming from. Highly recommend stopping in atleast once to check it out, I guarantee you will not regret it!“
