“We decided to go here for dinner because we could walk from our hotel & get 10% off our food. I ordered BLT with ham & chicken, my hubby ordered pepperoni pizza. Both were delicious. Service was OK as our waiter also had a big party across from us so I did have to look for him when needed. Their onion soup is the best I ever tasted. Not too salty & just the right amount of cheese!“

Classic fare like great steak and some unique Southern items like fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits, pot roast or a hearty meatloaf, but also tasty crab cakes and vegetarian items are available - see the rice and veggies entree pictured. The NY cheesecake and chocolate torte were so good they did not last long enough to picture! Staff was professional and overall atmosphere seemed very private even though it was busy each time visited. Convenient off S Stratford Rd and plenty of parking.“

“It was WF graduation night and the place was packed. Got lucky with seats at the bar. Great service, professional bartenders making higher end drinks. Beer on tap is ok. Very crowded and noisy....I have issues in loud places, wish I brought my earbuds, but the majority of ppl will be fine. Crabcake app (1, lol) was stupendous!!!!! Shrimp tacos delicious. Hubby got salmon tacos, not bad. Heavy on the saucey slaw, but very good. Very cute place, "wood" trim, large bar, outdoor tent, small seating area inside. Attracts good customers.“

The chef Curtis is a mushroom forager so any dish with mushrooms is a must try. For a “fine dining” establishment it is remarkably unostentatious and laid back. “30 min wait the 40 min wait on food. cooks can't even come into to work. Only half full and still a wait out the door. Half the drinks out. Running out of food so you half to pick what they have left. I would not recommend this place and I will never come back here.“

“Late lunch with 4 people. Waitress was super pleasant but just a tad slow with checking in from time to time. Seafood was fresh and prepared well. Raw oysters, shrimp saute, salads, and a few other things I'm not remembering at the moment. Good value for the money. I will return.“

“My husband and I went to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill for the first time. We were greeted at the door by a very nice young lady who sat us. Our server was awesome! Our appetizer was placed (Bacon Deviled Eggs) and came out right away. Our entrees were brought out quite quickly. Good size portions and I must say it was absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere and amazing staff. I would highly recommend dining here“

“Mayflower is a regional chain of seafood restaurants, featuring Calabash style of seafood like you find in abundance along the North and South Carolina Coast. Being about three and a half hours inland, Mayflower does a great job of satisfying the pallet of a beach bum who grew up in Wilmington, NC. We have a little construction project going on at home, and at the moment, the kitchen is a wreck. As a result, we are eating out a lot. This is one of those nights. We went to Mayflower (Peters Creek Parkway) around six in the evening. Parking lot was full, but we were seated right away. Our server showed up quickly and took our orders. CAUTION - Mayflower portions are large. The offer a "regular" and "large" sizes of most items. The regular is huge. The do offer a smaller, Senior size of several items along with a kids menu. Carolyn ordered the Senior Popcorn Shrimp ($10.99). The meal comes with cole slaw, hushpuppies, and one side (Baked Potato, Fries, Green Beans, More Slaw, Mac & Cheese). She had the baked potato. I ordered the regular size Popcorn Shrimp ($14.99). Also served with hushpuppies, slaw, and one side. I ordered fries. For the uninformed, Popcorn Shrimp are small (we used to call them "sound shrimp" when I was growing up at Wrightsville Beach). Calabash Style means they are lightly battered and deep fried (quickly). The batter is light with a touch of sweetness. Done right (as these were), they are cooked in fresh, very hot oil. Not greasy. Shrimp are sweet and tender. Dishes are served with a tangy cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce, both of which are house made and very good. Service was quick, and attentive. We had soft drinks - a bit pricey at $3.99 each - but with free, unlimited refills. All in all, this is one of our favorite places for a quick, tasty dinner. And prices are reasonable. Not may places where two can eat a nice meal for $33 including tip. If you have never tried seafood this way, give it a shot. If you don't like fried foods, they offer broiled and grilled items as well. Fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, etc. The also offer a steak or two. We highly recommend Mayflower Seafood.“

“I took my son here for his birthday on a Thursday. We were the only ones there which was fine, the staff was very nice and our waitress was very attentive. The food was great! I had the shrimp and grits and it was sooo good! My son had the chicken and waffles, mac n cheese, and yams. He loved it all and they gave plenty of food. We will definitely be back and I would recommend everyone go try it!“
