“This is a fabulous local restaurant and if I lived in the neighborhood I would be there at least twice a month. “This place has been on my list for some time and I was fortunate to visit at a downtime. Amongst a city full of pizza shops, Down North stands out among the greats. ENVIRONMENT The restaurant is relatively easy to find and seats no more than 5 or so people in the shop. The wait was a tad excessive which I credited to the food being "made with love". FOOD I love a good piece of focaccia! Another contributor commented that their pizza can be likened to focaccia which I would find to be incredibly accurate. The "Detroit" style was incredibly flavorful accompanied by a heaping of toppings(I settled on the "I'm A Boss"). I will admit the fries left a bit much to be desired but not enough to influence my rating. If you're based anywhere in North Philly between Farimount and Erie Ave, I can confidently say Down North is among the top three picks for the area. Happy eating!“

“Bacio Kitchen & Catering was a great venue for hosting an on-site dinner party! The price was reasonable for renting the space for 3+ hours. Chef/owner Robert was accommodating and met all our needs. The pub dinner served buffet style was very good-our guests loved it! “Visiting Philadelphia over Easter. Ended up at Prunella Sunday afternoon. The Honey Fitzgerald cocktail was amazing! Ordered the Caesar salad which was a great surprise to the tastebuds, and the pizza was just so damn delicious. The service and atmosphere was perfect. Had dinner the previous evening at The Capital Grille, but I enjoyed Prunella for the casual feel and experience we had. Prunella will be first on my list when visiting Philadelphia next. I just loved everything about it!“

And a cake … my dasher went out of his way to go all the way back to the store which he didn’t have to do. But a hour later we received the pizza cold as ever but it was still good. “In tonight again after some time away, sitting at the bar, Elvis the host offered a warm friendly greeting at the door. On Friday night Andy is bartending, friendly and great service. The location is excellent in the 1400 block of Chestnut in Center City Philadelphia. Just around the corner from mass transit, city hall and many things you will enjoy, It's connected to the W Hotel. The dining room is comfortable but the music is sometimes loud and generic like elevator music. On a Sunday morning Joseph G. was my server and he too was friendly and attentive, there were very few customers in. The menu is limited but you will find something for everyone. For Dinner on Friday I had Risotto with butternut squash, it was good, not strong flavor of the squash. On Saturday I enjoyed the meatballs, they were delicious and full of flavor. I have heard a number of guests mention how they look forward to coming to Philly end enjoying their meatballs. Multiple nights I enjoyed the TORTA AL CIOCCOLATO it is covered in chocolate ganache, comes with pistachio crumbles and pistachio gelato. This is in my opinion, the BEST dessert in Philadelphia. The staff from the door to the bar to the dining room and management is excellent, focused on your individual experience making every visit memorable and a special occasion.“

“I’ve been coming here since 1964 and it’s still just as good! Hands down- best pizza in Philadelphia! The brothers/brothers in law have retired, but one of the sons is carrying the legacy forward. All they sell is pizza and soda, and only beef and beef pepperoni toppings. It’s no frills, but worth the ride I make every so often from Chestnut Hill. I only wished they took credit cards and stayed open later, but I understand. If you’re a pizza snob like me, do yourself a favor and try King of Pizza?“

“Fantastic beers! Keen (a dark mild) and Gully (IPA) are personal favorites but they have sooo many different varieties from sours to porters. Also love the wine, particularly the Pinot Gris, and my sister enjoyed the Riesling. The pizza is delicious, love the mushroom pizza and they usually have some kind of yummy special. The buffalo wings have a great heat and are juicy with plenty of meat—I don’t even like wings but these are ones I crave. Lots of veggie options, too—salads, yummy fried artichoke app, and pizzas. The ambiance is clean, colorful, and warm, and the service is always great. And they have soft serve with chocolate syrup!!“
