“A gem of a restaurant. The Chinese name denotes a restaurant that had closed due to the pandemic. The cooking staff must be from there, as the food taste just as good as I remember. Food is delightful and have not had a bad dish yet. Try their steamed fish, definitely fresh.“
“Great spot in flushing with really good lunch special deals! Every dish comes with a free soup or soda and the portions are good for groups to share. This is probably my new favorite spot in flushing for a group lunch, the more people you come with the more you can order! Totally recommend checking this spot out if you're looking for a new place to try. They have over 20 items on their lunch special menu which is available 7 days a week (including weekends!) You can call ahead to reserve seats before coming to make sure you'll get a private room for your party. The food quality is great too! Not the typically Chinese take out kind but more like family style. I'd recommend coming with groups of 5-12 so you can share 6 or more dishes at once!! Staff is super friendly and food comes out quickly too :) dine in portions are better than getting it to go (also taste better since its fresh out of the kitchen)“

“Pecking House had some of the best fried chicken I have had in recent times. It was elevated and you could tell there is an extra level of sophistication to their chicken. Different flavors, different techniques and some Asian fusion aspects that pair so perfectly well with the classic American style fried chicken. Cornbread was excellent, dirty fried rice was also superb and the chili chicken sandwich really hit the spot. Can't wait to return to Pecking House in the future! Service was also excellent; super attentive and next level for a more casual place like this one. Don't sleep on the Peanut butter pudding!“

“Dim Sum was great! Service was good too. The staff talked minimally to us, but they were quick to take away finished plates and replace tea without us asking. Staff started speaking to me in Chinese, and I'm not fluent but it was no issue communicating in English - whether I asked for specific dishes (then the staff called over the person with the cart) or asked for more napkins. Disclaimer: I didn't order any ala carte dishes, so I can't speak to those. But the food we ordered from the carts were really delicious. Even the tea was great! I liked how many of the dishes came with 4 pieces, as many places just have 3. (An even number is easier to share and more common as dining parties I think!!) Even the sticky rice in bamboo comes with 4 separate pieces, which makes it easy to portion out with larger groups. I'd say the turnip cake (luo bo gao) was not fresh and at room temperature, so I'd recommend getting the dishes where you see the steam coming off; are kept in the carts that are heated. Great food and service!! Will definitely be coming back.“

“Maxi's Noodle is a great stop for shrimp wonton enthusiasts. Their succulent shrimp-filled wontons are enveloped in thin wrappers, ensuring a uniform texture without any chewy, hard spots. While the fish balls might not have the usual bouncy texture I’m used to, they still have good flavor. I appreciate the variety of add-on options available, with some items incurring an additional but fair charge.“

“The BeiJing duck was well spiced and sliced. While the staff provided supplementary vegetables and wraps whenever we ran out, the wraps were quite thin and often stuck to each other, making the experience difficult. The lamb hot pot was quite spicy as it had claimed to be. I enjoyed the various cuts. The basket of vegetables were a nice pairing.“

“Fascinating place! I would have never tried this restaurant, if it wasn't for the (2) outdoor elevators not working that I was not able to get to PappaRich on the 2nd floor (which is actually the 3rd floor from the ground). It was my wife's 51st birthday yesterday, and she wanted Malaysian food. The first outdoor elevator was already out of service a few months ago, we took the other elevator on the other side of the building. And upon entering PappaRich, we mentioned that we would not climb the stairs if this other elevator is also out of service in the future. I am sure that they recognize their business is being affected by the elevators.Surprised yesterday when we found both elevators were out, and even happier when my wife suggested to try Szechuan Opera on the ground floor. 2 of the 4 dishes she ordered were my favorites, string beans and twice cooked pork, very tasty and authentic. I don't much like spicy food, but I am willing to tolerate for my wife on occasions. The other 2 dishes were excellent too, it was cumin lamb (very spicy) and 夫妻肺片 (not sure what it's called in English, also very spicy).I highly recommend ths place. the waiter/waitress were very friendly, the place was very well decorated and comfortable, I will most definitely return on occasions, unless the elevators are fixed.“

“The service was excellent in the sense that the waitress was very thorough about confirming allergens. Even beyond that, the service was extremely good. The true specialty of the store seems to be fresh Chinese BBQ and fresh upscale seafood. Highly recommend it if you like either of these things.“

“I ordered takeout yesterday, and everything I had was delicious. The highlights for me was the homestyle tofu, the sweet n sour chicken, the tofu rolls, and the char shiu buns. We also had the shumai, and chow fun which were delicious! The pricing on online delivery apps are more expensive by a dollar or two than the prices on their menu, so I would recommend calling and ordering if you are doing pickup.“

“Finally I get to try their new location. I used to come here when it was still a lobster house named "dynamite" kinda sad that they closed down due to covid. But this is a great replacement in my opinion. We had the coconut chicken soup for 2 . I love how tender the chicken is and how delicious the soup came out . The place looks nice with new furnitures and lights . Also we tried their braised meat platter which was surprisingly good as well. The servers made sure our pot has enough water and constantly asked us if we needed help and if we need the plates changed . We definitely will be coming back!“

“When you're feeling down or lost or sad, come to this place. It's the perfect place for comfort food and for no-nonsense ordering. My grandma never made me any of the dishes at this restaurant, but if she did, I'd imagine it to taste like this. When I first visited, it was a rainy day and I just got a bunch of work to do because I couldn't speak up for myself and say that I already had a lot on my plate. In my little funk, I went to this place and ordered a bunch of carbs for myself; I think I ordered noodles, you tiao, and dumplings. The dumplings were so good, it's not the thick skin type; the ramen wasn't too spicy and the noodles didn't feel old, they felt fresh. The food wasn't extremely fancy but it was good :)“

“We came on a very busy night. Only two tables left for us to choose with reservation, either the one next to the bathroom or the one near the front door with cold draft. We ordered 6 dishes for five people. In order of my favorite were the beef with scallions, slice pork with vegetables, fatty beef with mushroom casserole, baked chicken with salt, and the lamb casserole. The lamb needed to be cooked longer. This is a no nonsense Cantonese restaurant so expect minimal decor with authentic Cantonese cooking.“

“Honestly a really good place. I don't know why the rating is so low unless people are trying to hide this hidden gem. It's 14$ for their lunch special and you get a plate of food that comes with soup (containing abalone, scallops, etc) and rice. Though it may not be of a higher quality, and definitely stronger in msg and flavors, it is worth the price and definitely a place to come. It also definitely fits within budget :) the service wasn't bad and it is always packed. A bit hard to find but if you walk around a bit, you'll definitely see it!“

“Best chinese restaurant in new york hands down. The staff is SO polite and friendly, the food is exquisite- especially the wonton and lobster bisque soup. Jasmine tea was such good quality, which is quite rare when it comes to restaurants. The decor is aesthetically pleasing, you can really see the investment. Overall the most underrated place in nyc definetly recommend!!“

“Here's the low down - This is the best wonton in downtown Flushing. Yes, better than Maxi's (which is good too!) and here's why. Maxi's wonton is all shrimp and gigantic so why is this one better? In my opinion the 'big land fish' 大地魚 incorporated into this wonton is a better flavor profile. It's not TikTok famous but it doesn't have to be because the locals know.“

“Today my wife and I had a late lunch at Rongwang Cantonese Restaurant. My second time there. Her first.I suggested it based on the first time I ate there. It’s the kinda joint I like. Small, hole in the wall, regeonal food joint. The food is excellent! No joke.I had spicy spare rib chow mein ($14). My wife had duck leg noodle soup ($10).Total with tip cane to $26 & change. We left $31.The portions are big. The soup was glistening. & rich. The duck leg was savory and it’s skin had just the right amount of crispiness. The chow mein is big pile of pan fried noodles sitting in a deep dish of thick pork & fermented black bean sauce. With chunks of roasted spare ribs. Very tasty. Though the menu says it’s spicy I couldn’t decerne any hotness in the my order. So, I asked for two small dishes of hot chili oil to add to the dish. I used all of the chili. I probably could have used a third dish of hot chili oil, but that’s just me liking my food extremely spicy.Neither of us could not finish our food. I ate half of my order. She finished about two thirds of her soup. We took the leftovers home. For $31 we got four meals. About $7.75 a meal. A damn good price for some damn good food. The place isn’t fancy. They do some food prep in the dining room. Din’t bring a first date here. But if you just wanna eat well and not spend tons of dough, this is the place for you.I reccommend this place highly. I’ll be going back again soon.Parking: This is Roosevelt Ave. off of Main Street in Flushing, Queens. Park a block or two away. Better yet, take public transportation.“

“Came here for lunch with my mom a few weeks ago. We ordered Salt and Pepper Squid and it came out piping hot but too bready and not enough flavor. The. Duck Congee was okay it just needed some seasoning. The beef chow fun and Cambodian noodle soup had great flavor and we thoroughly enjoyed those. Our server was great and attentive. We would come back again but not order the squid.“

“3.75* This was an interesting restaurant experience because the name suggests Americanized Chinese takeout (which they do offer) but they surprisingly also offer authentic Cantonese roast meats like soy sauce chicken, roast pork, and roast duck when the owners are not even Cantonese (imagine my confusion). I have a friend who lives in the area so we've gotten food to-go from here a few times now. Their soy sauce chicken was quite average, on the salty side, unevenly cut, and pieces of bone were found everywhere. Nothing to write home about. In fact, I didn't even bother to take pictures. Luckily their duck lives up to the name - the roast duck, that is. I tried both the roast duck and the Peking duck. It's the cheapest price point I've ever seen Peking duck sold for but if I must be honest, besides the noticeably crispier skin compared to the normal roast duck, it doesn't even taste like Peking duck. The meat of the Peking duck is under-seasoned and dry, and the wraps they give you are literally tortillas, not the traditional thin Peking duck wrap - the Peking duck's crispy skin was really its only saving grace so I'm not likely to get it again. Now onto my favorite thus far: the roast duck was flavorful with no gaminess and was more on the oily side but that helps lock the moisture in the meat so that it remains juicy and tender (I just tap the oil off each piece I grab onto some rice or the sides of the container). The roast pork is decent but a little heavy on the food coloring and not as sweet as it generally should be. There are far better options for that in Flushing. I like that most things on the menu are budget friendly and they have loads of options so even if you're not into Canto cuisine, you're very likely to find something you like at an economical pricepoint. Honorable mentions: Buffalo wings and chicken nuggets (for our picky eaters!)“

“Stepping into Congee Village is akin to being whisked away to a traditional Chinese eatery right in the heart of China. The decor and menu combine to create an authentically charming and delightful Chinese atmosphere, a refreshing departure from the usual Americanized interpretations we so often get in other places herein the US. The ambiance is strikingly genuine, offering an experience that feels both unique and authentically Chinese. The wait staff are not only exceptionally friendly and attentive but also insightful, offering helpful suggestions and recommendations that enrich the dining experience. The menu is a celebration of traditional Chinese cuisine, featuring a range of classic dishes, each prepared with care and culinary expertise. Here, the focus is on traditional, time-honored flavors, with dishes that are not overly ambitious or modern, but rather, comforting and satisfying. It's a dining experience that feels genuinely pleasant and fulfilling, resonating with the essence of traditional Chinese culinary art.“

“Hunan Kitchen on Lexington Avenue offers an exceptional dining experience. The seating arrangement is excellent, ensuring comfort during your meal. “Visiting Flushing and were looking for lunch and get out of the cold. Came upon Dim Sum Garden and decided to give it a try. Ordered Walnut JUMBO shrimp in sweet mayo sauce and Salt and pepper calamari. I told the waiter to ask the chef to go easy on the salt . Plates came to table and they were beautiful. Very large portions and delicious. Service was great. Big menu for dim sum and another one for meals with rice and soup. Great place to eat and they have delivery and takeout.“

“Fantastic Cantonese food. What a gem. The prices were great compared to downtown flushing. Flavors and portions were phenomenal. If you want authentic Cantonese food, this is the spot. I will absolutely be coming back. It gets PACKED and your reservation is meaningless which is why I have them a 4 overall. Made a rsv at 6:30 and didn’t sit til 7, typical Chinese restaurant tings. They are extremely busy during dinner which is when I went. Service is excellent as staff are efficient and super attentive, kinda rare for this level of service. Parking sucks in this area but worth still. Overall excellent A++“

“The spare ribs are delicious! The taro puffs are delicious! The bolo baos are [expletive] incredible! There's not one particular dish that stood out because every dish far exceeded my expectations. (My expectations were very low. That's not the point.) The little balls of roe on the siumai still glistens, which I very much appreciate because cooked opaque roe always seems so sad to me. Siumai with a dab of mustard is possibly the most enjoyable bite of food I experience as a dimsum eater. I love dimsum mustard very very much and live on the edge of having just enough to not cause a brain injury. It hits like a tease. The mustard can easily bring you to tears and cause your head to implode, but the risk makes it fun. I never know how strong the mustard is going to be at first bite. It's a trust fall. Into my mouth. There is vulnerability in finding a right ratio of siumai to mustard and wondering how it's going to go. The rice rolls need to be ordered directly from one of the disgruntled vested staff. It's best to order way more than you think you want because waitstaff interactions are hard to come by. And oh my, when they do come, these soft and slippery white sheets drenched in sweet soy sauce pair delightfully with any protein. Hot steamy rice rolls make me feel like a starving baby drinking milk for the first time. "Oh yes, this is what I needed. I'm abruptly okay now." I don't seem to have the proper words to describe what happened when I bit into a bolo bao. Perhaps it was that I expected something much rougher and breadier. This thing stopped my incessant stream of thought and forced me to savor this moment of soft sweet perfection. The bun was so soft and warm it caught me by surprise. The topping was crispy and crumbling, but not in a violent way. I can't really remember the filling but the combination of textures and sweetness in a single bite confused me in a "Do people know about this?? Why aren't people lined up for this the way they do for Dominque Ansel??" sort of way. At 10:30am on weekday, the crowd is perfect. There is a group of post-menopausal Chinese ladies who meet up to gossip, take selfies, and for some reason are still using point and shoot cameras. There are very serious-looking Chinese men who probably need a lot more than rice rolls to be okay. By noon, parents and their strollered children begin rolling in as well as families who have come to meet for lunch. I recognize the looks on their faces. They don't want to be there but they had to be, and the only silver lining of having to make small talk with aunties as an adult child is the promise of good food. I may be projecting. It may be difficult to flag anyone down to get boxes for the massive amount of food you'll have left because you'll want to try everything but not have the physical stomach space for it. But this is all part of the experience. They'll play a little game where they pretend not to see you. It's only because they have to work while you're enjoying your day off having delicious dimsum.“

“This Chinese restaurant was converted from a dance and Spanish food palace. Now the Crown One was the second Chinese restaurant in the same location. They are serving dim sim (small snacks) during the lunch hours.....of course we can have a banquet. The dim sims are very ordinary small dishes which I mean no new adventures at all.Parking lot is big enough for about 40-50 cars. Only velvet parking, guys are polite and park cars with caution. The restaurant is adding 18 percent on top of invoice plus tax as their service tips.“

“The ambience is stellar. They put a lot of effort in the decor. The service was decent. So why isn't the ratings higher? It's the same reason I don't like a particular Vietnamese chain in Flushing: it's not authentic.Majority of the reviews complained about the flavor profile being off and the lack of sweet soy sauce, so I must mention something to get it out of the way: this place is NOT Cantonese. It's Cantonese-influenced, but it's not Cantonese. I thought it's a dead giveaway with the Taiwan Pop in the background and how the establishment speaks mainly Mandarin. But if you didn't know, now you know. And try to see it as an Cantonese-influenced restaurant and you might be more forgiving that there's no sweet soy.- Beef Udon Noodle with Black Pepper Sauce: very peppery. Udon is chewy. It's a good dish, but I don't know if the claypot was necessary.- Claypot Eel over Rice: Flavorful without the need of extra soy. The only complaint is broccoli. Why is it broccoli. I was sharing this dish with a friend who hates broccoli, so I ended up eating all the broccoli. Broccoli isn't even a traditional ingredient to claypot rice, maybe they should switch to chinese broccoli?“
