Soul Food Heaven in Alaska!
We travel a lot and have tried soul food all over the country — and this spot right here is easily in our top five! The food was damn near perfect — seasoned to perfection, fresh, and full of flavor that tastes like home. You can tell everything was made with love.
On top of that, the customer service was amazing — warm, genuine, and made us feel right at home even all the way from California. If you’re in Alaska and craving real soul food, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Ordered some catfish, greens, Mac and cheese, pulled pork sandwich on DoorDash and not only was it hot when it got to my place across town the portions were perfect and the flavor was unstoppable. This is the best soul food in town.

I just had it for the first time and let me tell you as a southern living in Alaska this is the best home cooking I ever had...I ordered the ox tails, cabbage, beans and rice, and some peach cobbler and I enjoyed every last bite I could eat here every night and the owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming.......

I've been to Mama Carol's twice (so far). This will be my regular home cooked soul food. It's like my mom's cooking and elevated to the South. I'm from Alabama, and this is THE BEST Southern cooking I've had here. I've been here since 2018. If they had teriyaki deer tenderloin then it'd be like I was at home 😂 everyone is so nice there. I'm in love. I wish they were closer to me, or I'd be there everyday. 🥰 Thanks Mama Carol and the love that goes into the food. I can taste it.

Great food!! I grew up in southern Virginia. Some of the menu reminded me of back home.
Everything here has great flavor and is made with love. The Customer Service is awesome. Football and music videos playing in the background making a chill atmosphere. 100% making all my friends and family come here for some real comfort food. The prices are more than fair for the amount of delicious food you get.

Absolutely delicious soul food. We ate here last Saturday and I can't stop telling everyone how good the food was. Mama Carol, I presume, was such a delightful host. The food was fresh and tasty, I had the fried porkchops while the wife had the fried chicken. The only thing I will say somewhat negative was the atmosphere was kind of smokey from the cooking. It smelled delicious and made you all the more hungry but there was a general haze towards the back half of the restaurant. But overall still 5/5 stars and we will definitely be back..

First time here… I have been on the search for the perfect catfish dinner. My husband and I decided to give this one a try. Talking about going back to my childhood… The catfish was well seasoned and fried to perfection. The collard greens were well seasoned and truly amazing. I also had the black eyed peas, and i have to say they too were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. We will be going back! I was so hungry i forgot to take pictures.

I found this place on a whim and I am so glad I did. Honestly, I was skeptical—soul food and Alaska don’t usually go in the same sentence. But let me tell you, this place absolutely proves they do!
The catfish was some of the best I’ve ever had. I also ordered coleslaw, greens, and cornbread—everything was delicious, but the greens were hella good and honestly reminded me of my sister’s (and hers are to die for). The Kool-Aid hit the spot too.
On top of the amazing food, it was great seeing a completely Black-owned business thriving here. The customer service was warm and attentive, even while they were juggling the chaos of prepping for the fair.
If I lived in Alaska, I would definitely be a regular.
