Photo attached is from the summer of 1982. The place has staying power!! We had a good time there drinking and chatting with the locals. Not necessarily a cheerful place at the time, but had a very strong sense of place and lots of character… and characters!

Mecca has the coldest beer in town. The locals were welcoming to us tourists that stopped in for a few brews. The service and bartender were great. Would go back but I know that I will never be back to Fairbanks Alaska again.

Alright, it might not be the cleanest or friendliest place ever but ended up going here twice during our 5 day stay. It has a dive bar feel, the locals might sho you away, and stuff might get rowdy and go down there. So why give it 5 stars? Because it’s the local culture, our group went with the intentions to see and talk to locals. Some were friendly, some weren’t. But it was all in good fun. Don’t go there with the thought you’re finding a family friendly watering hole, it’s not that kind of place. Have a beer, play a song on the jukebox and live in the moment

Love this bar . The bartender is amazing. She was very organized and kind. Stopped in before dinner for a drink. The drinks are perfect. The locals were very welcoming. I ordered a round for the bar. Happy we stopped in . I love the size of the bar it's spread out so you're not all up on somebody else and in their business. I definitely will stop in again.
If you want to see the locals of Fairbanks this is where to go.The locals that show up during the day are super friendly and nice. I was able to spend 4 hours with them and have a great time.I would suggest daytime only. Anything towards sunset is not great. The streets get a little stealy...

I hate leaving a bad review but this bar is raunchy. A lot and I mean a lot of homeless hang outside of this bar and occasionally they would sneak in and try to bum a free drink or make you feel awkward as heck by hanging out close to you. The drink prices vs size of glass isn't worth it for a simple cocktail. This place is super super divey. It's definitely a locals bar with the same people that show up everyday ( I'm assuming) because they all know each other and their life stories and their daily routines. The only plus was the bartender. She was friendly. She served us one drink and then she disappeared, all good though..we barely had enough in us to even stay for that one drink. Lesson learned, never again.
