Was disappointed! Paid for dinners, got there and they told me there wasn't any dinners that night. Went To Mermaid for dinner, came back late and missed half of the show. I called them at 3PM to ask when we should arrive for dinner. She told me before 6:15. Would have been nice to know at 3PM you cancelled dinner. Waste of my money, Also couldn't hear the players when they were talking on stage. HUH!!!!!

Magpie’s on the Fly is a must see & do experience for anyone living-in or visiting Valdez!Visit the Café anytime of day & in any weather. As the kids say, “the vibes are impeccable.” And Don’t miss the new follies show “The end of the road” and then stay for the live music on Fridays or the open mic showcase on Saturdays. Magpie’s inspires performers from all over the globe to share their talents. Add to that a supportive community audience, excellent food & drinks & dancing = magic! This has by-far become my favorite place to enjoy the best of the Summer! Huge thanks to Maggie & her team for providing such excellence on all levels. We appreciate you! ☺️Kid-friendliness: The new show was a hit with my 11 year old Niece!

I enjoy visiting Magpies, an enchanting outdoor cafe nestled in the heart of Valdez, Alaska. From the moment I stepped foot into this charming oasis, I was utterly captivated by its serene ambiance, mouthwatering offerings, and warm hospitality. When in Valdez, its one of my favorite places to visit regularly.Magpies boasts a captivating outdoor setting that's perfect for enjoying the Alaskan scenery. The cafe is surrounded by lush greenery and offers ample seating, both under the open sky and sheltered from the elements. Whether you're sipping a coffee or indulging in a pastry, the backdrop of Valdez's natural beauty enhances the overall experience. They pride themselves on serving delectable, fresh-baked pastries that are nothing short of delightful. The scones were tender and flaky, the muffins were moist, and the cinnamon rolls were heavenly. Pairing these treats with their fantastic coffee is a match made in heaven. The coffee was rich and aromatic, and you could tell it was brewed with care. But that's not all! Magpies also offers a splendid selection of local and craft beers. It's the perfect place to unwind with friends after a day of exploring the stunning Alaskan wilderness. The variety of options ensures there's something for every palate.Dietary restrictions: Sometimes they have gluten-free pastries.

Magpies on the Fly is a locals favorite place! The staff is amazing and so kind! The true magpie herself, Maggie, has created a beautiful place where everyone is welcome and the community is so strong! ❤ from the Valdez Follys show, to live music every week, to open mic night, to delicious food and coffee. MAGPIES HAS IT ALL! You'll definitely want to make a stop here. It is the true night life of Valdez. This place holds a special spot in my heart.

Magpie's (or more colloquially known in Valdez as Maggie's) has been my go to for the Summer. The lovely and gracious host of Magpie's is an instigator of fun & a facilitator for creativity. Magpie's offers an excellent daytime café. I've visited regularly this summer for a midday treat of scrumptious seasonal scones and a beverage; lavender and ginger, blueberry and lemon, pumpkin - just to name a few. Yum - love them! Your host is also the producer of the Friday and Saturday evening "End of the Road" follies. The show is hilarious and has something for everybody. I've seen it three times this season. The triple threat actors, singers & dancers are all so talented and go out of their way to surprise and delight. At the end of each show, my face hurts from smiling and laughing. I recently brought my family to see the follies when they were in town & it was a hit! Even with my 11-year-old niece, who later kept singing "Chugach Dan." She was fascinated to learn about the gold rush, salmon migration and the story of Keystone Canyon. We enjoyed delicious sandwiches and charcuterie. Definitely a must if you have guests visiting! She also offers a gathering place for community members and visitors of all ages. There is a variety of options to uplift your week. I have attended almost every Thursday for trivia, multiple Friday night music acts and as many open mics on Saturday as I possibly can! Each event has such a supportive crowd because of the community that Maggie has created. It is astounding the level of talent that graces the stage. They've done a spectacular job curating a season of diverse music acts and performers. The long Summer nights were meant for staying up to enjoy music under the midnight sun. I'd say, savor it while you can because Winter is coming. Some tips - In the early season, be sure to apply mosquito repellent before you arrive. Maggie has invested in good lanterns but suggest an extra defense. Dress in layers - The old-town style Valdez performance tent is a stylish indoor/outdoor structure. Come dressed for weather changes. You might want to dance in the rain. Or when the sun comes out, sit at the fun barrel tables and soak up the rays. There simply isn't anything else like it in Alaska - Enjoy!

Ambiance was fun - hot chocolate not very good at all. People were okay but nothing special, not friendly or welcoming.

I am on the road exploring Alaska and while in Valdez.... I spent most of my nights here. The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly and outgoing, the beer was cold and the music was outstanding. I went for open mic night as well (twice).... a good time!!
