Best hotel in Valdez with the newest modern rooms. Indoor pool is great for kids after a full day of travel. Contental breakfast is a perfect way to start the morning.

Price is fair for location. Hotel is clean. Breakfast was included and good.

Extremely overpriced. Place is definitely one of the higher end in town but to pay more than twice than anywhere else is way over the top. They seem to vary the price wildly based on demand and supply.Rooms are spacious. The lady who checked us in was extremely rude and seemed to be in the wrong profession. I am not sure how this place gets rated best in town. And finally they tell us room cleaning is for long term stays only.

We were with a tour group, so we didnt' choose this hotel. Valdez is a small town and from what we saw it's the best in town. It's newer. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Not pleased with the pillows, but I like mine to be more large and full. The breakfast buffet is a little disorganized, but the food was ok. Fruit was minimal, but they had the regular choices for breakfast with the addition of country fried steak.

Nice hotel, our tour stayed there 2 nights and we loved it. Walking distance to the docks and resturants. Had a welcone dinner which was good and buffet breakfast, but I don't think they are opened for lunch or dinner

The Totem hotel is a modern boxy multistory hotel about two blocks from the waterfront- so easy walking to multiple restaurants and activities. Keys were available to everyone on the tour, except us, when we arrived. That situation was eventually resolved. The large attractive lobby had the front desk. seating, gift shop and a breakfast area. The house has a small pool, unlike everywhere else we stay during our tour. Our eventual room was large with a double queen and medium sized bathroom. Everything was clean and operational. The decor was monochrome, with contemporary furnishings, no art, a refer, microwave, no safe, and acceptable in-room coffee ( three in a row). Very good printed guest information. The complementary internet worked well. The medium sized flatscreen tv had lots of channels and a useful guide. Good bed, linens and pillows. Good towels and toiletries. Good lighting and lots of outlets. The complementary breakfast does not start serving until 6:00 am, stacking up multiple tours creating substantial lines. The breakfast was average quality and variety, at best. An average 3 star house, in value and delivery- ok for one night.

Stayed here 2 nights in June while exploring beautiful Valdez. Town is very walkable and we enjoyed our stay here. Stayed in the new hotel, rooms are very comfortable with a king bed, couch, microwave and mini fridge. Was able to do laundry here too. Hotel is very clean. Breakfast was adequate, and coffee/tea available all day. Would stay here again.

Stayed at Totem Hotel 4 nights. Great location close to harbor & can walk everywhere!! Room was clean/bed comfortable. Breakfast was your standard hotel breakfast buffet. Would stay here again-nicest place in town. Beautiful area to visit

Staff was excellent. Nancy was wonderful to visit with. Breakfast was hot and very complete, other than no fresh fruit, which is a rare commodity in Alaska, so understandable. Our room was clean and comfortable but the heat was very weak and struggled to keep the room warm in spike of it only being in the forties outside. The view of the mountains around us was spectacular but a little marred but the other nearby buildings blocking the view. That said, I will say I think this is probably nicest and newest hotel in Valdez and when we return this will most definitely be our go to for lodging. We had a great stay.Walkability: Easy walking access to the marinas and local restaurants.

Totem sets the bar for Valdez accommodations, a very nice looking building. The room was very neat & the view was great also. The breakfast could be spruced up a little more to match the room quality. Some other options besides instant oats, biscuits & gravy, etc. Would have been great.Rooms: Very nice, some of the rooms have decks to them.Walkability: Pretty much down town, great accessibility to any restaurant or to the harbor/board walk.

Stayed in the suits. Dryer didn't work, microwave didn't work. I let them know but nothing was ever fixed. I was there for 15 days and my room was never cleaned or serviced. Great breakfast though!Rooms: They originally overcharged for a government rate but corrected it afterwards.

For Valdez, it’s top notch. Room is clean and modern. King size bed was comfy and not too squishy (better for my back). Didn’t have the breakfast. I’d stay here again unless another hotel has some EV chargers and then I’d go there instead.

Motel is nice and clean but pricey. We paid twice as much to stay here as at other places because of the pool. We were staying during the High school basketball tournament. The pool was conveniently closed for the entire tournament.
