I work in downtown Birmingham and this location in the Financial Center is one of our favorite places for lunch. My coworker and I ate here Thursday, 02/01/24 for lunch. Soon as you walk in, you see packaged desserts in both full cakes and slices. They had several King Cakes, so we immediately decided to split a slice. Decided that first before what we're actually eating. #priorities Last time I ate here, I got the Chicken Quesadilla and it was so good. But a couple of my coworkers got the Marilyn Monroe, a sandwich with "turkey, pepperoni, mozzarella & marinara sauce on cheddar bread". So I went with that this time, same as my coworker. Concept here is that you order at the counter, they give you a number to display on your table, then another server will bring your order. Service was fast. The sandwich looked a bit small at first, but it was stacked with turkey and pepperoni, so the portion size was actually just right. It comes with marinara sauce on the side for dipping, which is good, because it keeps the sandwich from being too messy, but it was a bit odd because it was cold, in combination with the warm sandwich. I kinda wish the sauce had been warmer. It comes with a bag of chips and your choice of another side, which I chose fruit. I don't care for melon, so I picked around that and ate the grapes out. Next time I might get another side. And finally... it was King Cake time. We had picked a cream cheese slice and it was SO good. Had a cinnamon taste mixed in, but to be fair, this was my first King Cake so I actually have no idea what to compare it to. This dessert made me so happy. Two things I need to figure out: why is this sandwich called the Marilyn Monroe and when can we eat here again.

Nice bakery with plenty of classic options to choose from. I ordered a custom German Chocolate Cake for the holidays by phone. It was ready on time. The cake was moist and delicious. The only issue was pick up. My little cousin picked it up for me and the clerk behind the counter had a poor attitude for not reason. My cousin was only trying to order a cookie before leaving and paying for the cookie. Rude staff at this location.

This place was by far me and my coworkers best place to go for breakfast and lunch. One being for the food but mostly because of the great customer Service Ebony and another female's name who's now gone on to another position. They knew people by name and always made the atmosphere amazing and welcoming. Although we still frequent them, its definitely not the same with those 2 women being in different positions. Ebony is in the back now and not there to always greet and have a brief morning or lunch conversation and the other nice lady ( I feel bad for not remembering her name) but she knew ours.:) The vibe is different, but the food is still amazing. Even my coworkers' state that it's not the same going in there anymore because no one is greeting us by name or already knowing what we want. Change is good and for the better I know but its hard-to-find great customer service these days and those ladies mentioned definitely gave that! My trips are not as much anymore because the personable experience and vibe just isn't there anymore. But if you want good breakfast and a nice treat this spot is it.

Been 3 years since I've set foot at the bakery for breakfast downtown until now, I was hoping the still have the Monte Cristo but no longer in the menu, has the All-American breakfast, never miss a beat with the food. I will be stopping there from time to time for breakfast when I am heading to BPL Central for training sessions...

I love the offerings this bakery has and the quality is impeccable. What has disappointed me recently is during this time of year during Fall and Winter holidays 2022 they have decided to start closing at 4:00pm on weekdays. They have 3 locations and they are all closed at 4:00pm. If you work long hours don't worry about stopping by for a quick dinner item or baked goods to take to a holiday party.
I bought a chocolate layered cake for more than thirty dollars and it taste like it came from a box, icing came from a can. All my guests for thanksgiving complained because this did not taste like one of Edgar’s cakes. I kept trying to taste chocolate but, it was not happening. Very disappointed…
