Decided we needed home style cooking without the work :) so stopped by for Sunday lunch. The restaurant is located in the old part of downtown Bessemer in a corner building The building itself has been beautiful preserved to show the era of its time. The outside sign, lighting is nostalgic looking some. Inside the dining area is long with high ceilings that boast old milk glass lighting fixtures. We stopped by here on Sunday for lunch, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! I would highly recommend this place for anybody looking for a home cooked meal! Try the mac and cheese, clearly home cooked! If you love soul food, this is a place to try!
Ok, I have know Chef May for a long time and I was so excited that she was back in action. I ordered the hamburger steak, yams, mac and cheese and collard greens. All I can say is WOW! Everything is done fresh on a daily basis. The hamburger steak was juicy and the gravy was seasoned to perfection. The collard greens were seasoned with smoked Turkey and it was awesome.
