Been here for Furnace Festival every September. Incredible grounds, staff, and facilities. Very gratefulFor their hospitality.

Sloss Furnaces is an outstanding example of a historical site that has been restored to be an educational tourist site. The site is full of informational plaques to share the history not only of the place, but also its impact on the city.If that isn't enough, it is also a site known for paranormal activity for all you ghost hunters. I have personally seen light orbs and had anomalies appear on video.Whichever interest you have, paranormal or historical, it is a great place to visit with the entire family.

Interesting place to walk around and explore. Several places seem to be rusting into nothing but overall, it was worth the visit

Finally got the chance to briefly visit this piece of American history in early January. Been wanting to bring my camera here for years, and it didn't disappoint. It was a self guided tour and a slow day, so I got the whole place to myself. This vast beautiful fossil of America's industrial boom will require a long leisurely day to capture it right. Luckily there's a nice brewpub across the road from it. It was surprisingly accessible for my elderly dad, though I wouldn't recommend bringing pets or small children as there are many places for them to disappear, fall, or get stuck. Would be a fascinating tour through history and manufacturing for an older kid though.

Visited Sloss about a month ago while visiting Birmingham and thoroughly enjoyed my time walking the path and stairs up onto the furnace platforms. Reading all of the information about Sloss throughout the tour really just brought a sense of surreality..almost a haunting and eerie vibe which was completely intriguing. The gift shop offered iron made objects - and I am really bummed I didn't buy the artichoke - wonder if they would send me one!? Ill pay! :) Definitely a site worth seeing and spending time at! Free too!

A must visit while in Birmingham. Self guided tour is great and was not crowded. I loved all the history and related plaques around museum.

I went as a volunteer. When I signed up, I put on there that I was disabled and would need a chair and could walk short distances. Shortly after my shift started, I was told by Maria that I would have to stand up for my entire shift. When I told her I couldn't stand up for that long, she said that I would have to walk to the other gate. It would have been a very long walk there and back as I parked beside my assigned gate. I explained to the volunteer coordinator, and she said that Maria is over the entire festival and I have to do what she says. I told her that I couldn't and would just leave. She offered to swap jobs with me so that I could sit at her table and she could go to the other gate. Maria told her we were not to swap and I could just leave. I left in tears as I spent money on a costume for the Day of The Dead festival and drove to Birmingham from Blount County. When I complained on Facebook about the festival not being disabled friendly, they acted like they didn't know why I left, which was a flat-out lie.

Furnace Fest....what can I say? It's the best festival in 20 years. I'm able to show my family what things were like in the 90s 2ks.Worth every penny!

We had the pleasure of touring during Furnace Fest, and it was breathtaking! Everything in here was so much bigger than we were, it was truly incredible and just like taking a step back into history. I’d like to thank David, who was working with Sloss, for taking the time to speak with us about the history and show us pictures of their ironworking from his own phone. I think it’s fantastic that they are bringing in artists to utilize some of this incredible space. We purchased an iron banana and a brussels sprout, made here, which we thought was a very cool concept. I can’t wait for their website to launch and follow more of their ironwork! I hope to visit again soon and take the full tour, it was an amazing time. We thank the entire Sloss team, for allowing us festival goers to tour a portion of this historical property, we loved it.

Here for the Food+Fire event. There is a good number of local businesses here and some out of state showcasing samples of their food. You will get full! I tried ribs from Dreamland and Helen, corn from Aww shucks, pork tenderloin from Socu and beer from Ferus. There were many other options to try food from. This is the first year of the event and I am sure it will grow in years to come.
