I just ate here for the first time, and when the staff said I’d be back they weren’t kidding! The food was amazing and reminded me of good home cooking. The staff were so nice and helpful with ordering. We mentioned that we hadn’t been here before and they jumped right into giving us suggestions! We got our food quickly, and we had good portion sizes as well. I cannot wait to come back to try more things from the menu. 20/10 would recommend.
The restarunt was nice and clean and the customer service was great. However the food didn't meet my expectations. I orderd catfish, its was fried to hard, fried green tomatoes were also hard and red beans and rice was bland. I will visti again to try different menu options.

Food for the soul. There's something about Sunday that makes me crave a plate of good ole soothing Southern cooking. Luckily, my wife was feeling the same way yesterday so we decided to give Fried Green Tomato's a try. Fried Green Tomato's is located in Hoover & specializes in cafeteria-style Southern comfort food. Fried Green Tomato's offers a few plate options including a Meat & 4 Veggies Plate ($15.29), which we ordered 2 of so we could try a bit of everything. For the meats, we ordered fried chicken livers & country fried steak in brown gravy. The chicken livers were out of this world delicious! Super fresh with a nice, flavorful breading. Highly recommend & would order again. The country fried steak in brown gravy tasted good, but it lacked any sort of crispy breading. It's almost like it was breaded & then sautéed in gravy. I'd skip it next time. We went HAM on the veggies & ordered collard greens, fried green tomatoes, mashed potatoes with gravy, stewed cabbage, creamed corn, green beans, dressing & coleslaw along with a yeast roll & hush puppies. All veggies were very good, but I particularly enjoyed the stewed cabbage, fried green tomatoes & collard greens. The fried green tomatoes were breaded in what looked like tempura batter. Whatever it was, I liked it! They were tangy & tasty. The hush puppies were also awesome with an extra crispy exterior & fluffy inside. Fried Green Tomato's atmosphere is casual. You order at the counter & bring your tray of goodness to the available table of your choice. There's also a few tables outside. Service is friendly. They're a member of the Alabama Farmers Market Authority & get some of their meats & produce from local businesses & farms. They offer homemade desserts, but we had no room for any after our feast. Maybe next time because I will most definitely be back!

Worst Mac & Cheese I've ever had in a restaurant. Chicken livers were very good. Okra was excellent, but man, how do you mess up mac & cheese that bad? Staff was kind and friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: They have patio furniture on the ramp as it is visible from the front, but do have access at the side door.

This place is wonderful! The manager was really nice and helpful. Everything came out really fast, which was great because I was eating with my husband on his lunch break. Their name says it all. The Fried Green Tomatos were the best I have ever had! The chicken was moist and flavorful. But I think my favorite was the steamed cabbage! Everything tasted like grandma's home cooking! Definitely a soul food gem. I would go back anytime!
I love eating here. Great fresh tasting home style country food. But I'm disappointed that they started asking for tips even though I have to stand in line and have to pick it up when cooked. There is no table service. No waitress. NO TIPS!

Ordered delivery, so take my complaints with that in mind.I paid something like $50 for wet "fried" okra that popped with a mouthful of oil (unclean or not hot enough frying oil), unseasoned sour cabbage, plain chicken livers on a bed of soggy crumbs, mushy black eyed pea slop, and a slice of custard pie made with eggs that obviously would've floated if you tested them.Maybe an off day, but completely turned me off from ever trying it again.
