I called to make a reservation for a family of 5 for a birthday party. And the girl who answered the phone was extremely rude. When I said I had a party at 5 for tonight. It almost was as if she was sucking her teeth and disgust. Then she thought she put me on hold and started talking to someone behind her about how some chick on the phone wants to do a reservation for tonight in an attitude. When she got back on the phone she told me she doesn't do reservations. So then another woman got on the phone and asked me to hold on for a moment while she found someone who spoke english. When someone finally came to the phone I said that the reservation was no longer needed due to the extreme rudeness the Hostess portrayed over the phone. I hung up and I believe the owner called back and apologized greatly. Say that the girl didn't know how to do a reservasian.I'm not sure it would be glad to take my reservation. But at that time the damage was done.We have never been able to eat there, Because of terrible phone service . Very disappointed.

Needs to be bigger so other customers wouldn't have to wait for other customers to leave.Kid-friendliness: The drummer, singing and cake for her birthday.

I usually do not like to leave a negative review. I know folks typically work hard, but from time to time I have to call it like I see it. Our experience tonight was mediocre, at best, even taking into account the fact that it was a busy Saturday night. The hostess was inattentive to the people who were waiting, and disappeared for ten minutes at a time. Getting seated took an hour, and tables were clearly available. The restaurant seemed to be well staffed but poorly organized. Our chef seemed nice enough, but was uninspired. The food was fair, but not up to the standard I expect from Stix. And to top it all off, they put an automatic gratuity in my check, for a party of four, without mentioning in advance that they were going to do so. I really didn’t appreciate that. I’m glad I looked at the check before adding yet more to it. All in all, I’d say they need to get their act together, stop hustling people to pay extra for for noisy birthday songs, and do what the customers pay them to do — seat patrons quickly, serve a good meal with a different “flair”, and provide a good experience.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant on a first date so you could imagine how excited I was to be eating there. Unfortunately we did not have a great first experience. Our chef did not portion out our food correctly leaving me and my date to be shortened on the amount of food we were served after calling him out about it he then questioned my judgement as if he was not just the one passing the food out.. After realizing he shortened us he yelled across the restaurant at the waiter to bring more food (this was a busy friday night may I add) then gave my date 1 shrimp jokingly as if it was funny that he shortened us on food.. After all of this the food was not even seasoned well so it was very bland and had no taste. We ended up throwing the food away. Thank god for our positive attitudes that saved the rest of the night but I will not be back 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Flames & flavors! My wife & I had lunch at Stix in Hoover yesterday. Stix is a hibachi restaurant that also specializes in sushi & Asian classics. I've had some great experiences here, but I haven't dined here in YEARS. I was excited to see if it was all I remembered it being. We started with the Steamed Dumplings featuring chicken & vegetable dumplings served with a chili soy dipping sauce. The dumplings & sauce had good flavor, but they were cold. Not like "frozen in the middle cold", but "they didn't get brought to the table right away cold." Not a huge deal. My wife & I both ordered hibachi dishes. She had the Hibachi Shrimp & I had the NY Strip Steak. Both were served with Japanese onion soup, ginger salad, fried rice & veggies. My wife's shrimp were of good size & we were both impressed by how perfectly they were cooked. My NY strip steak was also cooked to my liking. A superb medium rare. The Japanese onion soup that Stix serves is by far my favorite of hibachi soups. The broth is rich in onion flavor. The fried rice was particularly delicious! It had a nice smoky flavor which I'm guessing comes with being prepared on a well-seasoned hibachi grill. When you walk in Stix, you can dine on the right side which is where the "cook in front of you" hibachi tables are. To the left is what I've always heard called "the Chinese side" (My wife couldn't believe it's called that. What do you call that side?) where there are private booths, but you're still able to order from the hibachi menu. I prefer to sit on the Chinese side. It's quiet & I find that dining at the hibachi table can feel rushed. I mean, it's cute, but once you've seen an onion volcano a few times, the magic is gone. My entree was delicious! As good as I remembered. Service was friendly. They offer a full bar. I'm a fan of Stix. Probably my fav hibachi in Bham.

We come every year for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner with friends. About 30 of us ?. The staff was amazing, the food was excellent. They were so organized and on top of things. We really had the best time this year. Thank you!! It was such a special night.

I arrived at 8:10pm. The young lady that seats people left the front stand when she saw me walking up. After 10 minutes, I was FINALLY acknowledged by a Bust-Boy! He tried his best to get someone to help me, but nobody ever came. After 20 minutes, the side I wanted to eat on was now closed. No one seemed interested in letting me order something to go either. I don't think I would recommend this place after this experience. After 30 minutes I decided to leave. The young lady who is supposed to seat people that walked away when she saw me coming never came back to the front for the 30 minutes I was there. Impressed with the bust-boy. Saw him open the door for countless guests leaving

This place would have drowned tonight if it wasn't for the host. The young man saved the restaurant in my honest opinion. We tried to tip him but he refused to take the tip.

We used to love this place. This last time we went will be the last time. First off we go to the left side where they have booths (like we always have). There were only 3 other tables that had people sitting in them on a Saturday at 1. I thought it odd but oh well. We waited 10 min before we ever saw our server. She took both our drink and food orders at that time. Note: all the staff were dressed inappropriately, wearing sweatpants, athleasure wear, and/or house slippers. We saw our server again when she brought our salad and soup. Then our food came and was delivered by a different server (which is ok). We get the exact same thing every time and love it but this time the hibachi chicken was chewy and the fried rice did not taste good. So after we finished we waited for our server to come back for another 10 min or so, mind you we haven't seen her since she brought our salad and soup. I decided I would stand up to see if I could spot her on the other side of the booth and she is in another booth talking with co-worker. Also note that there are 2 dirty tables in the place that no one has bothered to clean off. I wave her over. We pay and leave. Never again will we go back

Easily the best hibachi chicken I've ever had, the service was great and the atmosphere was welcoming.
