This location has a different feel than the downtown Birmingham restaurant. It does not have quite as much authentic Greek market feel...not that I have ever been to a market in Greece! The food is excellent and the menu is vast - something for everyone.Food: 5/5
If I could give 1 star I would, and I came in from out of town to visit my family. I called to tell the owner that the food did not taste fresh the fish wasn’t fried crispy like I asked it was mushy the okra wasn’t crispy like asked it had barely any flavor, disgusting. She went back and forth about how no one on complained as if that mattered and it does not some people just take it as a loss and not return. When I lived in Alabama I was a regular but this is my last time.Terrible customer service I never heard a manager argue with a customer the way she did…Save your money it’s family Owned so their no chain of command she stated unless I wanted to speak to her husband it was nothing it no one basically could do anything about it.On top of that my elderly mom started throwing up after taking a few bites…DONT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL
We had a wonderful lunch at Fish Market Hoover. Excellent waitress, very attentive and friendly.Food: 5/5
My husband and I went here for dinner on Sunday. Our server Alexis had an amazing personality. I rated three stars because after our food was delivered we did not receive any silverware. After waiting for a moment, I went to the wait station to request it. I was asked "where are you sitting?" I made it known and was told someone will bring it over. Well, someone come over and placed the silverware on the table behind me, where the people had their food in to-go boxes preparing to leave. Now I am up requesting silverware again. Food is now lukewarm and I'm in my feelings ?
Three friends celebrated a birthday at this location. The food was delicious, prepared to order and a good value for the price. Our server, Alexis, was friendly, fast and attentive. She was the poster child for customer service. We will be back.
Our meals tasted fresh and delicious. If you like the flavors of sauteed onion, peppers, tomatoes, capers, olives, and feta cheese then the Athenian snapper is an excellent choice. 2 of us had tasty tender baffalo popcorn shrimp. 1 enjoyed shrimp and grits and another fresh salmon cakes. Meals come with a choice of 2 sides with several choices - a few choices at extra cost. Our 6 lunch meals ranged $12.99 - $23.99. 5 of our meals were under $20. The $23.99 was a large seafood platter. Soft drinks and tea were $2.99 each. Parties of 6 or more have gratuity of 20% added to the bill which was fine with us. Our server was friendly, checked on us, and brought us more drinks as needed. 3 of us boxed left overs. Altogether our bill with tax and gratuity was a little over $150 - averaging about $25 a person. We were willing to pay this for such good seafood - a rare treat for us.
Great service, fresh food. Needed more spices on entre.
The seafood meals are delicious! I had the grilled platter with grouper and it was fantastic! The servers are very nice and helpful. Even those that choose to eat non-seafood meals really enjoyed the chicken and burgers. I recommend this as a great casual seafood restaurant.
I recently placed a takeout order through Grubhub for pickup from The Fish Market. The Grilled Salmon with Caribbean Corn Salsa with Greek style rice was delicious. Also, ordered the Feta Veggie Pasta and Greek style potatoes. The overall menu item choices are excellent and I would definitely recommend this restaurant for Dine-in or takeout.
We had a group of 15 for dinner. It was a family group that had not gotten together for several years. Our 95 year old grandmother passed and we were in town for the funeral. She would take us to the fish market when we would come to visit her. Our waitress was great. She was very attentive. The food was delicious. It was a great experience.
The food was very good and service excellent but I would consider it as a splurge because it was a little pricey. I had six grilled blackened shrimp with two sides and tea and it was around $24 with tip. They had some beautiful desserts in a case as we entered.
My parents love this place. They like anything that has to do with fish or seafood. I like it here too. I love the round tables and the proximity to the galleria and it's right off the interstate. Food is always high quality and the prices are fair. Service is always impeccable and friendly. They will fix any problem right away. We usually get two of the large fried platters and that always feeds 4 of us if we get some appetizers on the side. I hope they never go out of business.
I travel a lot and it is seldom everything on my plate is great. The grilled Amber Jack, scallops, hushpuppuppies & stone ground cheese grits were amazing.
3 stars at best .Came recommended by friends. I had fried catfish fillet and fried oysters combo. Fish was perfect, but oysters did not seem fresh, were overcooked. My baked potato seemed like it was baked the night before . It was discolored and lukewarm at best. Fried okra was good, server was polite but we didn’t receive water or extra napkins. The worst part- a large party was in private area, but not soundproofed for sure. Birthday party, kids squealing ,probably being antagonized by stupid so called adults. They screamed and squealed for 45 minutes, and you could see the look of misery on everyone’s faces. Not the restaurant’s fault, blame stupid, self centered thoughtless adults for that one .
The servers here are good, down to earth and genuine people. The kind of people you look forward to serving you each time you come. The seafood is cooked consistently well, although I do wish the menu would change more often. I'd recommend sitting out on the patio for a more relaxed experience.
