We tried this place looking for new mexican dishes. Website menu looked interesting. When we got there at 630 on a friday night the place was almost empty. Should have been a clue. We went in and were seated. Hostess/server did not appear to be having a good day. She Never smiled. Never made eye contact. The website showes alot of dishes that were not on menu. We ordered three basic Mexican dishes.
Chips and salsa were fair.
The food came out, eventually, and was not hot. Portions were SMALL. The meat looked and tasted like something from SYSCO Foods. We had 2 waters and one drink. Cost us 60$ plus tip.
We have been in Shelby County for 30+ years and have eaten at most of the Mexican places. New and established. I can tell you there are MUCH better Mexican places all around. I dont forsee this place surviving.
Its one and done for us.

We love Tequila's! There are so many places closer to our home but the food is so good that it's worth it for us to drive 10-15 minutes further. We always bring friends, family, and out of town guests here as well. Jose and his family are wonderful, and so attentive and kind. We are never disappointed in our experience there. I personally recommend the quesabirria tacos and the passionfruit margarita.

One of the best restaurants I’ve had a meal at the mofonguitos are one of my favorite dishes to have along with the carnitas I look forward to returning and having another meal!

Ordered through Door Dash. I got the burrito, meat tasted like beef jerky but no flavor. Chicken tasted old. Had shrimp in it but wasn't suppose to come with shrimp which tasted like it was 3 weeks old. Worst Mexican food I have ever had. Stay away if you think it will be authentic.

The quality of the food is absolutely amazing!!! As well as the customer service and overall atmosphere of the restaurant!!

My wife and I have been attempting to try most of the local Mexican restaurants around the Pelham area and this one “would have been” our favorite, IF the portions were larger for the price…

This restaurant had *the best* EL POLLITO PIO (“Arroz Con Pollo”) that we’ve had thus far (which is our go-to menu item for comparisons along with beef tacos).

The tacos were “good” 7.5/10 but the Arroz Con Pollo was outstanding *other than the portion size - for the price*.

Normally, my wife and I ALWAYS have leftovers of this item but not this time… we also typically this item priced around $10-12 each but here it’s roughly $18 - which would still be totally worth it IF we had received the “industry standard” portion size to at least take some to-go….

Overall, this is our 3rd favorite restaurant due to the portion size and the restaurant size (kinda small), but would probably be our #1 if the portion issue was corrected.

Silver lining: I believe they have a lunch special on the EL POLLITO PIO (Arroz Con Pollo) on Wednesday’s(?) where the price is only $8 per, which we will be taking advantage of for sure.

The price for 2 was over $60 dollars (before tip) for 2x-El Pollito Poi, one taco, a medium margarita & a corona… again, wouldn’t care if the portions were good.

No words can explain how much I love this establishment I’d recommend the delicious food to anyone and everyone I have never had one bad experience

The house margarita and house salsa are always our first indications of how good a place will be. Winner! The guy running the restaurant was so nice. Great food. Easy atmosphere.

I tried this place for the first time on yesterday, and it was so good! I had Birria tacos and Birria ramen. The ramen had so much meat! If you're looking for good Birria, this is the place to go! The staff are also very friendly!

Wonderful authentic Mexican food with some Carribean options. The gentleman who waited on us was so, so friendly and never let our chips run out or drinks go dry.

The alambre was fantastic and the spicy salsa was uniquely delicious - maybe pineapple or some other fruit juice? It was hot and addictive!
