If you're undecided, and love the flavors of a fajita dish but want something different, get the molcajete instead. It comes with all the fajitas meats and veggies plus chorizo and cheese and nopales cactus chunks. The chicken and steak pieces are huge. This easily serves 4 people, especially if you eat the free chips and salsa. The salsa is so good. If you love it, ask for another! We get the corn tortillas instead of flour. You can also get a rice/beans plate for each person or you can order the molcajete for however many people. It's a steal for the price and it comes out in a beautiful display. Just trust me on that. Enjoy! Also, the fajita quesadilla is delicious! The homecoming chicken reminded me of fajitas but smothered in cheese on a bed of rice.

My son and I were passing through Troy and decided we wanted to eat Mexican. We choose Monarcas Mexican Restaurant. I had a fajitas sub sandwich and my son had the king burrito. Both entrees were delicious. The salsa was very good and had a little kick to it.

Food is great. Service not as good as in past. The restaurant in Troy al drop some when open a new place in Brundidge Al. The crowd of people is off some. Need to put more work into the Troy location. Build it up again. But I still enjoy this restaurant.

Monarcas in Troy, AL is an excellent Mexican Restaurant. I have eaten her twice now, and both times, the food was excellent. The salsa is a bit on the spicy side but good, and the chips are your average chips (not Chili's level), which hit the spot, and I was satisfied. Both times I've ordered something not on the menu but is available at most other Mexican restaurants which is called several things (Texas Rice, Carnes con Pollo, etc), but it can be best described as a bed of rice with steak, chicken, and shrimp on top of the rice with melted cheese dip sauce all over the top. It cost $17.99, but both times were delicious and highly recommended. My only negative was the tap water. I try to drink water at restaurants when possible, but the water here is tough to drink (off-putting flavor), and I had to order a soda; otherwise, it was a great experience and a great restaurant overall. Plus, on the visit tonight, they even had a live Mariachi trio. Highly recommend.Parking: It is a little tricky to find the right turn-in off the main highway if it is your first visit, but once you see the sign, turn in towards it, and you can take the service road next to it until you are there.

Monarch's is a family oriented restaurant. The service is adequate. When we asked for extra salsa the server brought us tiny plastic containers. The food was fair. I ordered the street tacos with steak. The steak was more like tough ground beef with very little flavor. Last after paying cash the cashier said there was no receipt for customers paying cash .

I am traveling from Illinois to Florida, I’ve been craving a chimichanga for weeks… they nailed it!! My very picky 3 yr old even liked it!! So delicious! I ordered a side of beans and rice… the portions are huge! I will save the rest to snack on during the trip. Staff was great, super friendly. They told me 15-20 min, true to their word, it took about 15 min. Worth the stop, I recommend it!!
