First stop for a Mexican meal in Texas and was surprised how much it didn't taste Mexican. The spices were heavy with black pepper. Queso was offered in white and yellow. Margaritas weren't flavorful and the drinks offered were lacking what the descriptions provided.

Service was terrible. We ended up with five servers. No one took responsibility for out service. We had to ask each rime for service.

They got us our drinks and then decided to not let us order we sat for 40 minutes and finally decided to leave the service is awful.and the food is not worth a 40 minute wait. Get better employees if you want to keep your customers.

Tasted like a bad TV dinner and was priced higher than most Mexican food places. The waitress did not know how to make a margarita and had to finally get help. We were both sick within 4 hours of having lunch at the Texarkana location. Horrible! We will never go back.

Taco Tuesday is lit 2 dollar tacos, 2 dollar beans and rice and 2 dollar draft beer. Can't beat it. The carnita tacos slap. 10/10 would recommend!

Enjoyed this for lunch. The food was good the atmosphere was relaxed. The server, Cynthia, was very friendly and efficient.Of course I ordered Enchiladas, and I look forward to another visit so I can try more!

Fantastic place!! Carnitas were amazing!!Salsa is tasty and the chips light and crispy. The staff were super friendly too.Just passing through but if we lived here we’d be regulars♥️?♥️?Dietary restrictions: No dairy was easy for them to do.

Normally this place is awesome but tonight after waiting nearly 30 minutes I was told they were out of what I ordered. No biggie. Was a bit annoyed it took that long to tell me but ok. Ordered something else. Asked for more chips which were the usual. After several minutes the poor waiter comes out apologizing saying they are out of chips but they got these together. These turned out to be tortillas that had been cut up & deep fried in the kitchen. Just awful!! Then the mgr on duty comes to say how sorry they are & comped my bill. The waiter tried so hard to make things right. I dont fault him at all but someone needs to go back to restaurant supply ordering 101. Epic fail!!!

We used to stop at this El Chico when I was a little girl on our way to Texas! We stopped again this year (many years later) and it was wonderful!! Jeff took such good care of us and it was a wonderful stop on our way back home!! Thanks for the memories and good food El Chico!
