3567 W Northern Ave, Phoenix
Fast, friendly service. Attentive server. Fairly priced.
Worst experience ever food was trash & waitress was trash brought me my bill & receipt but no box like I asked for my $50 food!! Crazy price could of wentTo Denny’s or Applebee’s for better an cheaper do not recommend!!!
This place is nasty dirty. Seems like they bought the waitstaff and the glasses/plates from JB's along with the building. The guy cooking the food had a lonnnggg unkept beard without a hairnet. Looked like he just woke up. 2 tables got up and walked out while we were there. I visibly saw one waitress be so rude to a table of people. Weird right? Just don't go here. I've been to the diner at 16th Street, much better.
Went to eat at 5 & Diner at 35 Ave and Northern. On Google it says they are open until 10pm - not true. On their website it says Sunday - Wednesday they close at 8:30pm - not true. We got there at 8:10pm and they were closed. We saw the staff were still inside so we called and after about 15 rings they answered and we were told they closed at 8pm. Apparently they close whenever they feel like it, so call before you go. Went to the Outback at Metrocenter and had a great meal! They have never let us down! Keep them in mind when you find that 5 and Diner has closed early.
I've been to other 5 & Diners and this one didn't look like any of them. It almost looked like they opened the place too early, like they hadn't finished the interior. The service was decent and the food was pretty good. Just a bit disappointed in the whole experience.
Good food at the new location. Just needs a little decor work and it will be great.
The food was cold and incorrect order. The "general manager" stated she had a photographic memory and that she didn't need to write anything down. Once confronted she got an attitude. If I was able to I would give this place no stars. Her appearance was also very unprofessional wearing a sun dress with tattoos
My husband and I were excited to try something different today! We were on this side of town and decided to give 5 & Diner a try. That was a mistake!!! There was only one waitress working at 9:35am. She only had three tables to serve, including ours. She was so scatter brained. It took 10 minutes to get our water and coffee, and in those 10 minutes she managed to burn another customers toast and serve it to him! After another 10 minutes she came to take our order. Let me just say that the menu is lack luster, despite boasting about fresh buttermilk biscuits and delicious omelets. More people started trickling in and this lady was no where to be seen; however, we did see or food sitting on the counter. The waitress eventually made her way over to our table with the food, no condiments, and no toast to go with my husband's breakfast. We were still optimistic the food would be good. NO! There was no seasoning, the biscuits were hard, and gravy tasted like it was from a can. By the time we were ready to leave, we had still not received my husband's toast. This was a very disappointing experience and waste of money.
I must tell you about this 5 and Diner. First of all, this is not the first time we have dined there, and this is the second time since COVID. This place is a new remodel so it's CLEAN as a whistle. The food is great! The portions are TREMENDOUS and FRESH. The wait staff is attentive and marvelous. We've had their liver and onions (yes, liver and onions) today and it was absolutly perfect The portion is so large that we shared it and there was still room for delicious cherry pie! If you haven't tried this 5 and Diner, you should! It's "dining", like you expect at a 5 and Diner.
7:00 a.m. on a Saturday and there are about 10 people there. The waitress is doing her best with extremely limited staff. The food is great as usual. Everybody is nice. The waitress is wearing a mask, the cook is wearing a mask but for some reason one of the people with lots of tattoos her back near the open food is not wearing a mask. I understand we are all living in a new reality. But the rules are pretty simple for food service workers. Please have your employees wear masks or don't open.
This place was absolutely horrible, when we got there there was only 2 other tables with people. We had 4 people at our table and it took almost an hour to get our food. The air conditioning didnt work, the manager Brittany was very rude, we asked for the sauce for our chicken tenders and she got attitude and said I'll tell your server. What kind of a manager is that. To be honest she looked like she was on drugs and neither her or any of the cooks had masks on their face. We will never come back. They need to be checked by health department, smelled dirty and bathrooms weren't clean.
We stayed long enough to be served drinks and then decided this place was just too dirty and left. Food on the floor (lots of crumbs trash, but also a half hamburger just sitting on the floor across from our booth), greasy table, greasy menu. Neither the host who sat us nor our server were wearing masks (during Arizona's peak of the COVID pandemic). We won't be returning here.
Great variety of shakes for something refreshing in the heat!! Fast service and my chicken fried steak portion was huge!! Nice family restaurant..
Formally a JB's, I was initially quite excited to see it rebranded as 5 and Diner! Unfortunately, our visit did not live up to the excitement. 3/5 entrees had BURNED toast, which we could smell before we received our food, and was hidden on our plates by turning it over to the less burned side. Not sure if this is a franchise, but the interior of the establishment was kind of just whatever and not very fun for themed dining and did not live up to other locations. The food tasted okay minus the burnt toast, but I immediately had to use the restroom and almost didn't make it!The service was slow and unfriendly despite there being virtually no other patrons. Will not be returning.Other restaurants in the same plaza have had bad luck throughout the years, and their food and service was actually good. I don't see this place surviving, which is a shame because it could have been a nice spot for the neighborhood.
