Gertrude's is a good go-to spot when enjoying an evening at the Desert Botanical Garden. High quality menu of food choices. Reasonable priced though a little on the higher side. Decent drink menu but would prefer higher end choices of liquor and wine. Usually sit at the bar. The service is pretty good. They try really hard but on a Friday and Saturday they need two bartenders for the dinner rush. It's good and I recommend. With a few tweaks it could be even better.
The food and service was great. Unfortunately it was so hot in the restaurant it was difficult to enjoy any of it. The doors were open to the outside patio and it was 115 degrees. It made for an unpleasantly hot lunch.
Overall good food and very good service. Excellent chilled soup and elote fritter appetizer. The mussels and salmon were not up to expectations but we completely consumed. Mussels didn't have fresh texture/taste, a few beards were not removed that I pulled off and many shells were cracked which really should not be served. Since can't order half mussels half clams I imagine it's prepackaged frozen product. The salmon was cooked nicely but way too much butter and cheese in the dish for our taste and seeking a healthier entree. Maybe we missed some of the description on the menu. As said we enjoyed dinner but would steer away from those dishes.
The bloody Marys were a great brunch treat after a morning walk n the garden . The American breakfast and steak Benedict were cooked to perfection. Crispy fingerling potatoes served with both entrees.
Been wanting to go the Gertrude's and finally made it. Definitely worth it. Brunch was wonderful and it was a fabulous day to be there and do the Desert Botanical Gardens. Sat at the bar. Carol was great - bartender/server!! Had the Sonoran Benedict, which as very good. However, it did need either lime, cilantro and/or avocado. Recommend going to the restaurant and the gardens - absolutely fab!
Although we've been to the Botanical Gardens many times, this is our first time dining at Gertrude's. Menu choices were very nice, portion size was great. The outdoor dining area was lovely
I always enjoy the food at Gertrudes. Lately I've found the coffee disappointing. It was very hot and humid when I was there the other day (we ate inside) which was surprising.
Gertrude's was a breakfast treat after a meditation session in the DBG wildflower garden. The N/A Brut Rose paired well with the BLT and the bubbly Rose paired well with the forbidden rice bowl. Many good choices on the Sunday menu; especially, if pork is a fave.
We chose indoor dining when we made our reservation due to the temperature still very warm. I have reaction to the heat because of medication. The sliding door to the patio was open and it kept getting warmer and uncomfortable as we ate. We actually requested a box for leftovers so we could leave early. Very disappointed
The vegetarian options were unique and tasty but not excellent. Service was way above par. Having eaten there several years ago on the outdoor patio, I would say the ambience outside is more pleasing, weather permitting.

Popped in on date night, definitely not crowded during this season, service and quality were really good. Surprised by the Korean Cheese thing, really nice flavors, followed by lentil salad, tamales, and curry. Enjoyed everything, followed by a short walk through the garden. Definitely be back.
Absolutely amazing food! The Korean Corn appetizer was fantastic as well as the salmon. My husband said it was the best hamburger he has ever had! A group of 6. Wished they could have given us 3 separate checks but the waiter did split it 3 ways so we handled it that way. Great mixed drinks as well.
It was an extremely hot day that we choose to visit the Botanical Garden, and we were so thankful for Gertrude's cool, quiet, and relaxing environment. Our waiter was very attentive, the food was delicious, and we enjoyed the respite from the heat. It was however, a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. We ordered 3 different lunches, and with tax and tip it was over $150. Again, it was a delightful experience, just very costly.
Literally THEE BEST gluten free donut holes ever. I would go here every single day for these if I lived here. Comes with 4 or 7 and trust me, you want 7. Also, if it's your birthday they give you a free gluten free donut with ice cream on top which is also amazing.
Such a beautiful place to enjoy a meal after walking through the Desert Botanical Gardens. The food selection, flavor, and presentation are equally remarkable to the views. It is well worth booking a reservation as part of your overall visit to the gardens. I enjoyed the housemade hummus starter, the roasted corn tamale with vegetables and refried black beans, and a berry basil lemonade. I was a lone diner, as I was visiting Phoenix on a 48-hour window. The staff were kind, attentive without being intrusive, and made sure I had everything I needed. And it was a delight to have choices as a GF diner for medical concerns -- that too often is not the case and can make travel dining an unpleasant hassle. Not so at Gertrude's. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
