Classic bennihana like hibachi. Very nice staff that gave us a free sushi side that someone never picked up.

No heat. Food orders not delivered at the same time. 5 min lag time. Fried rice was mushy. Beef loaded with grisly parts. Also beef was in Giant chunks not Asian style. Tempura was under cooked and cold. All dishes had the same same flavor...which is to say no flavor.

Parking: Good parking.

This used to be our go-to spot for Japanese food - now it's never again! A few years ago the restaurant changed hands and hasn't been the same since. We have been occasionally returning to see if it improves, but only the prices go up while the quality continues going down. Today when we arrived at lunchtime, only one other table was taken which should have been the first clue. The rice was crunchy, dry and undercooked, chicken was very dry and hard even though drenched in a flavorless sauce, tempura batter was thicker than the vegetables it covered and it's sauce seemed to be watery, oily soy sauce, salad was mostly lettuce floating in water and topped with excessive amounts of dressing, Cali roll would have been ok except the rice crumbled away from the filling - miso soup was good so one star for it. Although the waitress was friendly, she got orders wrong, was slow to refill drinks and never picked up an empty plate, glass or bowl. Now we are both sick with food poisoning like symptoms. Repeating - never again!

I feel bad, because I hate to leave a less than positive review, but we should’ve known from the minute that there were no lychees in our lychee martinis that this was not going to be a good evening. Our server was very nice, but the order was completely mixed up, the quality of the food was mediocre at best, and our food was brought out without chopsticks, or ginger and wasabi for all, with main courses coming out before appetizers. Three dishes were completely missing, which were graciously taken off the check. But I certainly can’t recommend Hana Tokyo until they get their act together.

This dinner will live in family history: it was that bad. When the lychee martini (house speciality) came with lemon slices & sugary lemon syrup, we questioned the order. They were out of lychees (which are hard to obain and, apparently, "a kind of olive.") We should have left then. But since 6 drinks came when 5 had been ordered, we stayed. What else could go wrong? Our daughter had eaten here several times during her time at Ft. Huachuca. She & we are foodies. The appetizers came out after the main dishes. Three appetizers never came out, & the waitress kindly took them off the bill without being asked to. Two other orders written on the checklist of sushi handed to the waitress were badly mangled. Two orders of sashimi either never came or were jumbled into a bowl of rice with assorted & unidentified sluces of fish on top. Honestly, no one could tell. The drinks had taken 20 minutes to come out. The food, an hour. There were three small dishes for ginger & wasabi...but 5 people had ordered sushi. We had to ask for chopsticks or even forks. Repeated requests for more ginger were fruitless. 1 vegetable roll had something unrecogizable in it (pressed tofu? Fish?) The waitresses could not say. She & her colleagues had no idea. The vegetable gyoza were inedible. One unfortunate waitress had just started very recently. We tried hard to be pleasant, but it was hard...until it all went so far south that we could not stop laughing. We will never forget the fun we had and we will never, ever, ever come back.

This used to be a good place for teppanyaki. I've been here many times for celebrations over the past 8 years with anywhere from 10-20 people and always had good service and food. Not this time. We had 16 people celebrating a big birthday. reservation was at 4:30 and we were all there. The service was horrible. mind you it was early and not crowded. It took 30-40 minutes to get our drinks. Unacceptable. Then another 20 minutes to take our food orders. We waited a long time for the chef to come out and then after a really long time of prepping the food, there was not enough vegetables, and some people who ordered shrimp did not get it. This was one of the worst dining experiences and they charge a lot and then added 18% gratuity. It almost seemed like all the staff were on there first day and had no clue. Seriously - will not be going back.

My family and I love going to tanuki! The owner is the nicest person ever and always present when we go. She always gives the kids a little treat and makes our whole family feel so welcome. Being Japanese, it's hard to find comfort food for me in SV, so whenever I don't feel like cooking, my husband and I grab tempura soba and it fulfills the craving. The food is made with a lot more "love" than other places in town where you can get Japanese food and is so much more personal. We will continue being regulars.

I love sushi (the Hana Sushi is my favorite nigiri sushi dish) and my friend has seafood allergies. They accommodated us both! Excellent! Well done!

We went here years ago and enjoyed the experience. We decided to give it another try now that vaccines for covid-19 have made us feel safer about dining out more often. We couldn't get the phone to ring through all week, as we thought a reservation would be smart. Finally went there and got told some ridiculous story about why the phones were not working (which we had been told years previous). Asked about reservations and said they were not needed. Wanted the full experience and were told the community grill seating was not available for another hour, so finally gave up and left. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE!!!

My husband and I have always had amazing experiences at Tanuki’s. The food id always delicious and the service is quick, friendly, and fantastic. Tonight, we went to Tanuki’s for the last time before we leave SV. We got the Love Boat, which was delicious- I wish we got it more than just today. I wish the family nothing, but the best, in future endeavors. If you’re unsure of a place to eat at, stop by, you won’t be disappointed!!

Was thrilled at the quality, quantity and variety that Hana Tokyo offers! I used to fly back to my hometown in San Diego County every few months to get good sushi that I craved, but no more. Have eaten there many times in the past year and every time the service staff and the Sushi Chefs creations were delicious, fresh and very generous.
