Everything about this restaurant is fabulous. The food is always absolutely delicious and there are no bad items on the menu. The firecracker shrimp and sweet and sour chicken are my absolute favorites. The staff is very friendly and the environment is very welcoming. I always recommend this restaurant to everyone I meet.

Vegetarian options: It can be difficult to find good vegetarian options in this area of town. Mantis is my favorite go-to for delicious vegetarian Chinese- Vietnamese fusion food. The owners are wonderful people who treat you like family.

Dear Arizonians: I want to hug you. Seriously. I'm so sad that you have not been exposed to truly good Chinese food. We walked in to Mantis after reading all the rave reviews and really were excited - a tiny, grungy spot with limited room to move about and hardly any seating? Heck yeah! This is going to be great food! The tiny spots that aren't fancy are usually the best! Ooof. We were so mistaken. Less than mall quality food, with vegetables and meats that were overcooked and didn't seem to have any nutritional value at all. We were watching them cook, so I know it was real food, but there was no flavor and no love put into the food. We left without finishing our food and sought sustenance elsewhere.

This plate has fabulous Vietnamese and Chinese food!! Unfortunately they lost their lease and will close this location on Dec 31st 2022. They are searching for a new location. I am sad they are closing and hope they re-open soon. They have an email list you can sign up for to get a notification when they do.
Great food, generous portions. We ordered delivery and they were there in a flash. Best egg drop soup I've ever had!

Have dined in, 1st time delivery, the Kung pao chicken was excellent so were the crab puffs, the hot and sour soup was very good, definitely order delivery again.

I normally order chicken fried rice. It is not always freshly cooked. I don't think they realize you can tell when the rice isn't fresh and stir fried fresh.

This restaurant is closing December 31, 2022!! While traveling through the Tucson area we stopped at this hidden gem for lunch, as we have for years. We approached the door and read the handwritten note informing us that, due to lease issues, Mantis Gourmet Chinese Food would be closing their doors on December 31, 2022. "No!" I exclaimed! "How could this be?!" One of the family reassured me they are looking for another location and would reopen as soon as they could. He took my name and number; promising to send out a text with the new info. We are not alone in our dismay. He had pages of contact info for people who, like me, will follow them wherever they relocate. We ate our last delicious meal of stir-fried beef with vegetables (love all the fresh veggies and the hint of 5-spice powder in this!) at Mantis quietly hoping they relocate closer to our home.
