Excellent service, delicious food. Menu is expansive and affordable. Restaurant is nice inside and the chairs at the tables will accommodate even aunt Martha's wide ass. There are all the usual protein/rice/bean in some kind of tortilla delivery vehicle but there was also a nice selection dishes from the grill including steaks and seafood. Again, the food was delicious and well prepared. WE WILL RETURN!
If you're looking for a good Mexican lunch or dinner, I can heartily recommend Don Jose's Grill on College Drive. And Zach provided excellent recommendations and service! The Premium Margarita with Patrón was perfect.
Totally love this place. Food quality, price and service is awesome!! This is my to go place ever since they opened.. They have a band on Friday (today). I'm waiting to see how good they are. I will not be going nowhere else when I'm in a mood for some good eating. All of the employees here are so friendly.. Ok, I'm done.
Decor was great, food and service was superb! I also had one of their homemade Sangrias which was one of the best I've had. The only thing disappointing is the size of the small margaritas...i would guess 8 oz if that much.
Excellent food and outstanding service. Nice setting. Steak was tender and not over seasoned. Portions were good for the price.

Doe' s is family friendly with an informal atmosphere. The food is enough to share. If one is looking for tamales, look no further. Tamales are great flavor, and the level of spice is on the mark.
Great food, best fried shrimp in town. I go for the 2 1/2 lb ribeye it's like a small taste of heaven in every bite. But I can't go and not get both. I spend about 160 every visit but I leave away happy!
Outstanding! Best steak I have ever eaten! The Tomales are great also and the chili is made with steak trimmings! A very great meal is to be had here!!!
Pleasant wait staff and tasty food. The tamale appetizer was nice if a bit bland, but the chili sauce served with them complemented nicely with a good hit of spice. I had the country fried steak which was a sirloin cut pounded thin and then battered and fried. I love that it wasn't one of those factory prepared frozen fried meat amalgams like so many places now serve. It was a bit greasy however and got very soggy on the bottom from the excess. Overall though, I'd order it again when I have that hankering. Maybe the underestimated star of the meal was the house cut and prepped fries. Piping hot and perfectly salted.
Perfect blend of world class steak house, neighborhood restaurant, and corner bar. Doesn't get any better.

Fast service for a lunch in a crunch. Dinner is slower but well paced. Love the table side guacamole. Excellent margaritas. Cannot go wrong on the menu just don't make a lot of special requests because the cooks have a sense of humor.
Great place to eat. Has almost any type of food you are looking for. Mexican, steaks, salads, etc. Chips and salsa is not bad. I got the steak tacos. Was yummy.
If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, look no further! The quality of food is second to none, and the service staff never disappoints. A sign of a truly great restaurant? Servers who stick around for years. That's a testament to a great environment. We've made numerous trips to this fine establishment over the years, and have enjoyed it every time. Their chips and salsa are consistent, as are entrees. The chicken and steak are always grilled to perfection. I can't recall ever having a subpar dish - even their tortilla soup is tasty. The atmosphere is upbeat. Television screens surround the dining area (typically showing sports). They also have a fairly sizeable bar. Five well-deserved stars.
We have our Glen Oaks Alumni party here every year. It keeps getting bigger and better! Drinks and food is top shelf.
Been going here for 25 years and they consistently have great food, service and we love the porch for the kids. The margaritas are the best I've ever had. Great bands !! Can't wait for the new location to open!

Not worth the inflated prices. They seem to have a gimmick where they tell you they don't know what the margaritas cost. Our tacos were dry and cold. They got our orders all wrong. Tried to up-sell us on drinks and then overcharged us when we didn't bite. Then they tried to charge us for refilling a cola. Velvet Cactus needs to take more care and pride in their food and service and stop behaving like a tourist trap. We won't be back. UPDATE: Well we went back after all, and this time Velvet Cactus impressed. I guess a restaurant is only as good as it's worst night, so unfortunately my impression was formed then. But this time around we had a totally different experience, definitely for the better.
Fantastic Tex-Mex-Americana food! I highly recommend their cheesecake appetizer. Their outdoor seating area is vibrant and fun. The tables come with umbrellas and there are attached fans pointing your way. However, I still would check the temperature before deciding whether indoors or out because it still gets really hot! Weekends are crowded so be aware.
This place was awesome. And our waitress Tenika was superior! Very knowledgeable, friendly, and gave the most delicious recommendations. I can't wait to come back here again.
Awesome atmosphere! Great scenery! Excellent Service. I loved my experience! I'll be visiting again!!!
Food very good. Service as always GREAT!! Server knew her job and treated us very good!! Been there 4 times, never a bad item off the menu!! Plan to keep going back!!!!!

And not just Mexican food. The best food in Baton Rouge. I eat our every Saturday for a late lunch and I have become a regular at Mestizo's because of the food, atmosphere, and service. Keep up the good work. Fan for life.
Very convenient location next to our hotel. Very good steak and lamb chops. Server very friendly and efficient. Also good advice on local restaurants that locals ate at. You pay what you get so not for those on a budget.
Unique and innovative cuisine. And look, I am biased. The owner is a longtime neighbor but on the other hand that means I know him well. He's a good guy and I LOVE the restaurant! Jim is always innovating. For example, last year he came up with a cauliflower bowl dish that's just brilliant! I tried to copy it at home but couldn't quite get there. Almost. He takes junkets. 😂😂 Wait. I mean research trips, at least once a year to come up with new recipes. You need to stop in once a month, minimum, to keep up with the menu.
Loved this place. People and food were fantastic. If you are near this place you have to eat there.
Contemporary atmosphere, eclectic menu featuring a fusion of Cajun and Mexican cuisine. Interesting, innovative, and did I mention the margaritas? Great choice for lunch or dinner.
