They made my wedding cake for last weekend, and I have to say it was the most perfect and beautiful cake I could have ever hoped for. Out of the entire day and all the wonderful moments, seeing this work of beautiful floral art will be a lasting core memory for the rest of my life. Love this place. Every time we come back to visit the Island it is on our must stop list. Hot Chocolates has amazing hand made Chocolate, and Cakebread always has the freshest and tastiest breads, cakes and snacks.

Excellent bread and competitively priced. Cakes and pastries and chocolates are very expensive but you get what you pay for. It's a shame they took away the seating.

extremely disappointed. ordered my birthday cake here and it was dry and inedible when we emailed to tell them we were met with a rude email blaming us and offering no apology or solutions. sadly will not be shopping here again.
A very beautiful bakery and a very nice and excellent place to buy some very dellicious chocalates. I am always happy to shop there and I always have a nice positive experience there. Check this place out the next time you are in Downtown Courtenay because you will be happy.

We drive all the way up island from Qualicum Beach to buy our bread (and other goodies) here. Their artisan bread is top quality made from quality ingredients. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, always. The cakes are like you might find in the high street markets in metropolitan cities. If you want an impressive cake for a gift or special occasion, this is the only place to come for one. I should also mention that you can order your bread and goodies in advance by going online to their website. This is what we do each week. And if you have questions, they are so friendly in their responses. I never feel like they are being phoney or put on in how friendly they are. They genuinely care about their customers. Top marks for the best service. Highly recommended.

I had the best blueberry danish of my life, no, the best danish period.It had piles of real blueberries and the pastry was brushed with just a hint of sweet, was flaky on the outside, and tender on the inside. Yum!
