Akbar's Own Indian Restaurant

Some of the best Indian food I’ve had, with warm service! I’d recommend the dinner for two for an affordable and delicious meal.

Walked into Akbar’s Own Restaurant for the first time, and wow — I had no idea it was this beautiful inside! From the outside, I always just saw the white board due to the construction, so I never expected such a stunning space behind it. The interior is built so nicely — pure exotic vibes, super clean, and it smells amazing the moment you walk in. The ambience is cozy yet elegant, perfect for a relaxed meal.

I tried their Chana Bhatura and honestly… hands down the best I’ve had in Vancouver. Perfectly spiced, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic flavors and a beautiful dining experience. Definitely a new favorite! 👏🍽️✨

Had a delicious meal there tonight. The Palak Prawns were SUPERB! OMG the sauce was so good! All in all, we experienced nice ambiance, friendly greeting, good service, and just a lovely place to enjoy dinner out. We'll be back :-)

Last Tuesday me and my husband went to Akbar's own. Akbar’s Own truly deserves 5 stars! The lamb biryani was rich and aromatic, chicken tikka perfectly spiced, and the lamb seekh kebab melted in the mouth. Chana Bhatura was a delight! And butter chicken was even delicious.The warm hospitality and inviting family-friendly atmosphere made the experience unforgettable. A must-visit for anyone craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine in a cozy setting.

My daughter and I had a great time at Akbar's Own. We had a mango lassi, lamb korma, tandoori roti and lamb biryani and all the dishes were beyond delicious..very rich flavors, generous portions, decently priced and the ambience is cozy and welcoming. The server was very hospitable and struck a good conversation with my toddler. My toddler usually doesnt eat much at restaurants but she thoroughly enjoyed the meal to her tummy's content. Will definitely visit again. There is a construction going on on Broadway Street but don't let it deter you from visiting this great place.

The food was delicious! Four of us shared meals and the lamb vindaloo was the best I've ever had, practically melted in my mouth. Everything was great, hot and fresh. The service was excellent - with the current construction on the sidewalk out front it is a little hard to find and realize the restaurant is still open so it was practically empty. Lots of people stopped in for to go orders. If you want some fabulous Indian cuisine, I highly recommend this place. Their menu is also very extensive. Currently, the parking is terrible on the street due to the construction (which has been extended at least another year). There may be some parking around back, but I imagine with the street construction that stays very full. We parked in a lot across the street half a block before the restaurant that was $3.45 for an hour, $3.15 for each additional hour (behind Green's just off Maple). There is also paid parking half a block in the other direction, again on the opposite side from the restaurant, for slightly more.

I had Akbars provide the food for my 40th bday party. It was an absolute delight dealing with them (Vivek i believe). They showed up on time and set everything up. My friends and i loved the food. Would highly recommend!!
