Every time my mom and I go to Whistler we always go for lunch at the Thunderbird Cafe. The salmon chowder and bannock is something we look forward to…. Hands down the best chowder and bannock we’ve ever had! Love this place!

The best kept food secret of Whistler. We legitimately came to Whistler just to eat here again. Bannock is out of this world. Service is amazing. Prices are reasonable. Eating here feels like coming home. The cultural centre is a MUST see of course!

Really good venison chili and bannock. Clean and welcoming cafeteria. Only drawback is limited menu.

Amazing food with a seating area nearby. Loved the salmon panini, chowder + salad. Whatever you do, stop by and have the bannock: this is a treat to enjoy!Kid-friendliness: The area has enough space to run around if kids get bored after eating!

Went to the BB bar, very odd for a Hilton. Sport televisions everywhere, didn't know how to make a dry martini and wine was very expensive, even for Whistler :(

Located in the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Center, Thunderbird Cafe is a great place to try out dishes influenced by the local Squamish and Lil'wat First Nations. I started with the Squamish Salmon Chowder, a rather bland soup made with potatoes, carrots, and salmon, served with a fried Bannock bread on the side, which was doughy on the inside and crispy on the outside but completely flavorless. I also had the Venison Chili, a more flavorful soup made with ground venison and beans in a tomato-based stew, topped with sour cream, green onions, and shredded cheese. While tasty enough, the dishes at this cafe were hardly worth the prices, and while influenced by native cuisines, most of the selection here wasn't actually traditional (i.e., consisted of standard deli sandwiches).

Fine but nothing to get excited about.

We came here due to a recommendation for their bannock. It was really underwhelming. Cafe is located in the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre. Really unassuming place. We ordered the chilli and the turkey pot pie. Overall was just meh, felt like I was eating cold-ish food from a school cafeteria. Not surprised it's now closed.
