One of my favorite go to places when I lived in Berkeley. It seems like a place that would serve Americanized Chinese food, but nope! The ambiance doesn't come at the expense of food quality. You'll get high quality, authentic dishes along with a great dining environment. Most important tip: get the duck.
The service is consistently spot on. You can tell they take pride in their work. Food is delicious and if price is a concern hit it up at lunch. Although plan to go eat as wait times can be long.
We've been to Great China several times, and this visit was the best out of all. The must have dishes--Peking Duck (with the authentic tortilla-like wrap) and Double Skin--were good as usual. The String Beans was a common dish that we've had in many other Chinese restaurants, but this was by far the best we've had. The cumin lamb was done a little differently than what we had (on other restaurants); the cut of lamb was more like stew meat, but it was tender, and the spices and the flavor was just right without being over-powering. The timing of how they sever the dishes was perfect too. They don't take reservations for party fewer than 6, so it was lucky of us to be there right before they open and got to sit at the bar (tables were all taken already). Every time we drove far too be there for dinner--and one time we drive all the way there to find that they had a private event and didn't take walk-ins--so my only plea is that they will allow reservations for party fewer than 6.
My friend recommended this place, and it is wonderful. A line forms at around lunch, so come early or prepare to wait a bit. The food is tremendous. Well prepared, with a nice selection of authentic to a touch americanized. All delicious.
Not enough food for what they charge. Went there for the first time with my wife and 2 other friends for my wife's birthday. They charged us extra for bringing in a birthday cake for our celebration. Really???? When we first walked in we left the cake at front desk to store in their refrigerator. After dinner my friend went to the front dest to ask for the birthday cake. They said they could not find that cake. We had to ask 3 different times 3 different employees until they finally found it and brought it out, then we're told they would have to charge us for bringing in a cake to eat in their restaurant, which they called a "candle & cutting cake fee." In addition, the only time we saw our waitress was when she brought out our food. Other times, no where to be seen. I felt rushed eating there. Food pricing is expensive to me for Chinese food.

Authentic Burmese. Great service and people. Tea leaf salad is amazing.... Would eat it every day if I could. Minted Jalapeno Chicken and the Egg and Okra curry also a must try.
The food is great but had a very strange interaction with the management /owner (?). We had reservations and were seated (after a bit of a wait but nothing unreasonable) and our server (who was great) quickly came up and took our drink and appetizer orders. No joke 30 seconds to a minute later another person came up and asked us for our order. We explained we had just ordered from someone else. She then asked if we had ordered our entrees too. We said no, and then she proceeded to tell us they were very busy so we needed to hurry up and make a decision. It was a very, very strange experience. And for the record the rest of the time we dined there were open tables (so clearly not THAT busy...). I am hoping someone was just having an off night because the food was great and our actual server was great, but you really shouldn't tell diners (who have reservations) to hurry up and order 30 seconds after someone else just took drink/appetizer orders (unless you want your patrons to feel like cattle lined up at a trough).
Perfect! Nice service and nice food! Good for my Asia stomach
Best when it's not as busy. The first tofu vegetables (spicy) and mango tofu (mild) are the best dishes. Don't skip the coconut rice. Burmese Milk Tea is also worth taking when the mood strikes.
Similar to Burma Superstar. I've heard they're owned by the same owners. Prices are the same and the dishes taste about the same. Less crowded and quicker service.

Best Chinese food for the price in the East Bay. Friendly and fast service. My husband and I love this place!

Good food, fresh ingredients and great service. Small and cozy.
Genuine flavors, good portions, value for money, great staff, and should try.
Simple place of authentic Cantonese food. Great service and delicious offerings
Small Chinese restaurant that offers a variety of Cantonese and Sichuan dishes. Very good prices, great portions. Food is also not too salty or oily.
Good Chinese food, bit pricey. Good service, accept credit cards.

Great price, good service, and great food. Very attentive. Definitely will come back.
Nice food, but poor service. A staff spilled water on the table and on my friend's legs. Anyone can make a mistake, and nobody can be perfect. After that, he wiped off only the table with napkins, and he didn't hand over any napkins for my friend. So I felt bad.
A bit expensive. The food is fine but not so attractive. Reminder, they play loud music all the day and night.
If you never tried a hot pot, than this is the place to go. First time I've been there was amazing. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. ❤
Huge portions, pretty tasty too. Wait is usually pretty long through so plan ahead.
