The people working here are great. The beans and Mac n cheese are excellent. The main dishes we tried need some work though. Brisket was about 1/2 fat, and not very tender. Sandwich we tried was just ok.

Finally! Some actual soul food in Alameda. I usually had the BLT when the old owners ran the place, but now that the new owners have added soul food, I had to check it out. It was great! The ribs were delicious. I was going to buy extra bbq sauce, but I didn't need it. They put a generous amount on the ribs and they tasted great. The bbq baked beans were good too. They tasted a little different than any I had ever had before, like there was a different spice or something that I couldn't place, but I liked them. The greens were good, too. I added a little more salt, but that's just my personal preference. Final score, 9/10. I recommend. Give them a try.

Surprisingly good bbq tucked away in a "sandwich" shop. Fried chicken is ok. They give 1 biscuit when you buy an 8 piece. The biscuit was good. All the BBQ meats were good. Service was good! I'll be back.

Enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich! Can't wait to try the other BBQ items soon! Daily specials are a nice added touch.

Ordered the 2 meat combo of beef brisket and spicy hot links with 2 sides (Mac and Cheese/Collard Greens). The brisket was like leather, a serrated knife couldn't cut through the meat. When asked if I wanted the hot or mild links, I wanted the "hot" which was marked on the box but got something with absolutely no flavor, even the BBQ sauce did not help.My 2nd order was the 2 piece dark chicken with a biscuit. The biscuit was missing from the order.

Super moist, nice crispy skin, and just enough spice for a little flavor kick! Great chicken, reasonable prices and nice people.Next time I'll have to try the bbq too!

If you haven't tried the BBQ yet, I really recommend it.Been here a few times in the oast but most recently for the BBQ and it was super delicious. Meat is slow cooked in a smoker smothered in BBQ sauce that the owner himself makes from scratch. Told me he has been making that stuff for his 8 children their whole life. I appreciate the generous portion of the plate and the overall quality of the food. I will come back again and again.

Wow, such great service. Definitely worth a trip to Alameda. Small momAnd pop shop that exceeds quality, service, and exceptionalism overall! The Gonzo sandwich is a must try, and their fried chicken, woo, what a delicate balance of crisp and spices. Yum!

The food I got was amazing, but they forgot the rice with the chicken and rice plate for my take out nooooo! I paid for an add on of Mac salad which was added, but basically all I got was broccoli and chicken since I can’t eat a lot of the mayonnaise-laiden Mac salad I was really counting on that rice

While the food is good, the customer service is severely lacking. The workers seem harried and disorganized. Not to mention the women on the register is rude
