We ordered take out- the broths were really lacking flavor and the meat was sparse (for both pho orders- chicken and beef). The Pho Tai meat was cooked (have never seen this before at a pho place) and super stringy.

Waited about 50 minutes for my food when I was told 15-20 on the phone. Servers didn’t even hand me my food when it was ready, even though they knew I was there to pick up. Had to get up and ask for my order after it was sitting there for who knows how long. Been here twice this week, and this exceedingly long wait time was an issue both times sadly. Ordered 50 dollars worth of food and definitely would not do it again as I feel like I am not valued there. Much cheaper options all over the bay where I don’t need to wait an hour for food. Server even tried to hand me watered down Thai iced tea that was made before I even got to the restaurant, and mind you the food wasn’t going to be finished for another 30 minutes. I would have been stuck with the watered down iced tea if I didn’t ask for a fresh one myself. No reason a drink should be sitting there with ice melting in it for 40 minutes while my food is being prepared. Overall terrible.

Just had the most incredible evening stroll through the neighborhood and stumbled upon a hidden gem! This place serves up Oxtail Phó like you've never tasted before. Imagine a 30-hour bone marrow broth infused with star anise, cinnamon, and other spices, topped with charred onions and ginger. Served with delicate rice noodles and garnished with fresh onion and cilantro – pure perfection! But before diving into the main course, I couldn't resist starting off with an appetizer of Bone Marrow on toast. Let me tell you, it was absolutely delish! The rich, buttery marrow paired perfectly with the crispy toast – a match made in culinary heaven. To wash it all down, I indulged in an A-Town Pale Ale Draft from the Island's very own Faction Brewery. The crisp, refreshing ale was the perfect complement to the savory flavors of the phó and bone marrow.Overall, it was an evening filled with delightful surprises and delicious flavors. I can't wait to go back and explore more of what this neighborhood has to offer!

Had a quick lunch at Sidestreet yesterday after work and it was amazing! The chicken pho was SO good, perfect for a rainy day. Portion was huge, excellent value for the price. The host was polite and efficient, I was super impressed. Definitely recommend!Dietary restrictions: I'm gluten free and the waiter confirmed my selection was safe for me to order.Parking: There was a lot next to the restaurant but I wasn't sure if it was safe to park there so I chose a paid spot right outside the restaurant

My Sidestreet Pho reviewMy reason I gave this place a four out of five star. I understand times are hard, and the restaurant decided to save on costs $$ by literally cutting corners. Their food and service is excellent. There is no complaints about that. I always have the oxtail Pho, it’s so delicious!!! Within the last year or so, I’ve noticed in the oxtail pho soup that the bone in the soup has been cut in half. It’s a little sad to think that this was the means of cutting the cost. Literally cutting the bones in half not even receiving the full amount of an oxtail bone. The other thing about that is there were tiny little slivers of bone fragments, that didn’t feel safe to sip the soup. So eat oxtail soup at your own risk. The photos are of my take out order, but I have experienced the same experience while eating at the restaurant and did not mention anything.Parking: At the Alameda location parking is a little hard to find during the day, after 5 PM parking is free, but still a little hard to find.Kid-friendliness: Yes, it very kid friendly….

I live in New York now but I used to live in alameda for many years and came to side street often. It is the BEST Vietnamese food I’ve ever had. The tumeric catfish I still dream about! When I comeToTown once or twice a year it’s the first place I come!

beef brisket pho and broth in it is super delicious, best one I've ever had in my limited Vietnamese restaurants experience

The spring rolls and banh xeo were too bad. The spring rolls were too small, thin and lacking in shrimp and crab filling, so they were not fragrant. The worst thing is that the pancakes are too thick because there's too much flour. There's a lot of fat in the cake so the cake doesn't cook. A well-poured banh xeo must be thin, the cake does not retain grease and is really crispy to be delicious.Sincere suggestions to do better

Oxtail pho was weird. Ordered the brisket. After heavily seasoning the broth on my own ot tasted like pho. Very skimpy on the Thai basil. Meh The wings were soft and mushy. Yuck.

Best pho broth I've ever tasted. Subtle flavors of cinnamon and anise. The bahn mi pho was amazing: dip your sandwich in the broth! Lemongrass tofu was also really good.

Sidestreet Pho is my favorite pho place in Alameda, the staff are kind, and welcoming, and the food is amazing. We're lucky to have such a great place and people in the area. Highly recommend.
