I've been coming here for years !! It's a good comfort spot for a simple but delish breakfast . I'm really just obsessed with their waffles . Service is always quick . Sometimes on a busy day there will be a wait for lunch rush. Everyone is so friendly

Great hole in the wall spot that has been there forever. You literally can't go wrong with any breakfast item and the service is top notch! Never had an empty coffee cup my entire meal!

A busy mom and pops restaurant with nice staff. A little bit of a wait to be seated on a Sunday morning. It's an older looking establishment but still very clean. I had real eggs scrambled with quality cheddar cheese. The bacon was thick. Good wheat toast slathered in melted butter. The rice was cooked perfectly. The coffee was ok.... The portion size was good, and the pricing was appropriate. I will definitely be back again!

My mom, sister and I come here every week for breakfast we love the hot coffee with their wonderful vanilla cream and a bit of hazel nut too. My mom switches from a tuna sandwich with fruit or a club sandwich with fruit instead of fries. My sister gets her New York steak with home fries and scrambled eggs. She sometimes gets a side of white rice. We sometimes share a spaghetti or grilled cheese. I love my bacon and eggs with over easy eggs ND hash browns with white toast. They have delishious pancakes as well my niece loves to get the chocolate chip pancakes. The service is fast and always makes us feel at home. There are many regulars and we have become one of them now. I grew up in alameda and can say that this is definitely another gem in alameda you have to try. The atmosphere is laid back and had a dinner feel to it. Oh yeah they have a great house salad and their ginger beef is pretty good too. The best coffee and great service delishious food. I definitely recommend. I pay about $80.00 not including tip for us 3 to eat really good and always have leftovers to take home.

My go to breakfast diner. Has that homie feel, you know, if you know, you know. My Family and I love going here. The diner close at 2pm we usually go around 12-1pm so we don't have to wait in there long line in the early morning. I always get their corn beef hash egg Benedict. My favorite, so does my wife. I would highly recommend eating here. Affordable and quality food.

This place isn't the same anymore. Not like it was when I first started coming here. I've recently have given this place more tries but I believe the same staff that are always working there including the owners are exhausted with the business. You don't feel the effort in the their energy anymore. The food isn't consistent and if you try to ask for your order to get fixed, the cooks just get bothered by it. No longer recommend this place its become sad to visit.

Showed up a little after 9am on a Sunday. I was craving pancakes but wasn't in the mood for a chain like IHOP. There was no line so I was able to be seated immediately. It took a few mins for a server to drop off a menu, but another table had arrived just before me so no big deal. My pancakes came out STEAMING hot, which was fantastic. I just ordered two and they, as you can see, were large. Quite tasty as well. The bacon was fine- not fresh off the griddle but also didn't seem like it had been sitting for hours. It's a mom-and-pop vibe. Noisy with conversations but not distractingly so. Lots of families with kids this early. Some older pairs. Very comfortable. Overall a good first experience!

This is a mom and pop family restaurant that is a local staple amongst mainly older people. If you want a reasonable breakfast without too much fuss but done right, then this is the spot. With everything becoming so expensive, this spot is a hold out with the possibility of getting breakfast under 15 and as low as 10. Not bad for the times.

These mom and pop restaurants never cease to uphold to their standards. Very nice team and delicious food. I tried their chicken apple sausage and banana pancakes.... They were perfectly made, nice and warm, took me back to Saturday morning in my childhood with mom fixing breakfast . And the unlimited coffee the gentleman was refilling (I had 3 cups} was an added bonus.

This quaint little diner is a long-time favorite of mine. I love the mom n pop, small town feel when here. I'm always greeted friendly and promptly. I appreciate the speed of service and attentiveness as well. I never have time to finish a cup of coffee before the waitress comes to refill it. Big bonus as I like my coffee hot hot! ;) The food is good and comforting. I have yet to try something that wasn't worth having again. The walnut pancakes do it for me every time! The portions are large. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality and quantity. South Shore Cafe will remain in my breakfast/brunch rotation!
