We sat down at 6:15 pm on Saturday. Our order arrived at 6:34. It was around 7:22 when a non- Indian ( but Asian)manager came to our table and said, " If you are done eating, can you please leave ?". We could not believe what we were hearing !There was no line outside. We were totally blown away with this obnoxious & rude behavior of this manager who we have never seen before at the restaurant.Fortunately, Solano Ave. has other Indian restaurants, so that's what we will do.She was totally unacceptable & unethical. The family next to our table saw this as well & they were shocked to witness this, too .This is not the way to treat customers in this country.

DO NOT VISIT, food is okay but service is EXTREMELY bad, we went in for small bites and the waitress offered us free tea on the house and we accepted. They expected us to have a fat order and when we didn’t they charged us for the tea they said they were giving us for me , which was very sub par by the way. Moreover they kept giving us looks and overcharged us for the tea we never asked for.Very unprofessional

Oh Man !!! It was a ' Bomb ' !!! Absolutely ' Hit The Spot ' !!!! I ordered the ' Lamb Vindaloo & Paratha Bread ' !!! It was ' Just Right ' !!! The Lamb was ' Tender & Well Cooked ', & Wheat PARATHA / Leavened Bread ' was like ' Grandma used to Make ' ... I believe that ' Vindaloo ' is a Goan Dish ' from Coastal India .... The Entree was ' Spiced Just Right ' !!! Not too Pungent so as to bury all the Spice Flavors. Potatoes were ' Ample n Well Cooked !!! Cheers n Njoy this Albany Gem that stays Open till 11 p.m. en General ....

We LOVE Cafe Raj. It's our neighborhood go-to. And we have lived by some of the finest Indian restaurants in the U.S., mostly near 6th Street in NYC for over a decade LOL! The service is tops! Tikka Madala delicious. And there are often freebies with take-away

I know Tendoori Chicken is grilled but my Tendoori Chicken was completely burnt. It was completely charred and I literally had to peel the burnt chicken skin off to taste bits and pieces of the chicken flesh. The side of rice wasn't good either. I just can't believe how burnt the chicken was. It's okay if it's SLIGHTLY charred but not the whole chicken thighs. I don't understand. I LOVE Tendoori Chicken and this just doesn't compete with what I've had at other restaurants. I still have an aftertaste of charred chicken skin crumbs in my mouth. Disgusting.

Went with a big group of friends to Cafe Raj, and we had a great experience! They were very accommodating of our group (even though we hadn't arranged a reservation), and we really appreciated the complementary chai and rice pudding. The prices were very reasonable and the food was tasty. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala - it was a bit different than I've had before at other restaurants (the raisins were unexpected) but ultimately very enjoyable.

I really enjoyed my meal here. Food was very fresh and the Naan was Super Amazing! The staff are really friendly and added to the nice ambiance. It felt as if I was visiting a friend's family house.

Excellent service and superb food ! Got lamb korma, saag paneer and daal. Warm and friendly family atmosphere, they truly value their customers, and it shows in their food.

Love this place, and the prices have stayed reasonable for so many years. My favorites are the butter chicken and aloo bhindi. What's such a pleasant surprise is that when you order a dish, it comes with naan or rice. I've picked up food and have been given a sweet rice pudding, too. The wait staff (maybe family) are also always warm and welcoming.

The First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley ordered food from this restaurant for our study hall event. The food is very delicious and made with love. I especially enjoy the chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. I highly recommend this place for catering and even recommend visiting for dine in.Vegetarian options: They have various vegeterian curries like daal and mixed vegetable curry.

I love Cafe Raj. I’ve been coming here since 2006. I wish I knew what kind of cheese they use in their naan and in the Josh Rogan dish. I have family that I wanted to refer to their restaurant so they can try their dishes. One loves cheese but is particular about the type they eat due to intolerance issues so if anyone has that secret it would be helpful. ;-)

We brought our 2yr old to Cafe Raj, and found the service and value to be A+. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and brought our son a fruity yogurt drink on the house. They kept stopping by and saying hi to him, it was so sweet. The also offered chai tea and dessert on the house. In total we had butter chicken, saag paneer, naan, rice, a beer, yogurt drink, rice pudding all for $38 after tax... incredible. Our family can barely get Chipotle for less than $40 these days, and Cafe Raj beats that by far. Highly recommend!
