The corner restaurant was packed. After having tried twice, hoping for a un petite souvenir nostalgique from the pie shop days we tried again. Clue one, it was empty. The host, waiter maybe owner was glum. There was one other table. I ordered Hot Tea twice. First the water was warm and second time it was a little warmer ... couldn't seep tea, drink it. My eggs Benedict was served warm as well. No one came by to see how if I was satisfied. My wife didn't touch a thing on her plate and no one asked. Well, I guess his glum look worked. Normally I would have sent it all back , but the pitiful look got to me. We paid. Beware of the glum look and go the the corner for good food and hot food and good hot coffee Solano Grill.

This is one of the Best Breakfast in the East bay, nice interior great service and good menu for the new COVID prices. It's a must try for good eats. They do there best to keep customers six feet apart and still comfortable. Hats off to the cook who made the best eggs scramble i ever had.

Excellent food and fast friendly service. Great menus especially breakfast and lunch offerings. Been there several times and liked everything we tried. Duo is currently my go-to restaurant on Solano (and there a lot of good restaurants on Solano!). Enjoy!

Food was terrible. Chicken and waffles was comprised of obviously frozen chicken tenders. Pancake combo was McDonalds level quality. The service was good. But honestly, terrible, just plain terrible food. Really expected more from a 4.8 star restaurant.

I've enjoyed the food every time I've eaten, and I appreciate that they accommodate my requests, such as for crispy Parmesan potatoes. The service is fast and the staff is very pleasant, and the restaurant is quiet. Two friends and I have brunch there every other week.

Wonderful and delicious menu as well as kind, courteous service! Extensive breakfast menu including waffles, omelettes, and eggs Benedict. I love the bagel and locs myself. Also, great for lunch!!

Great service, great food, very accommodating, nice protected outdoor parklet area. We'll be back for sure. Also: a wide variety of options (breakfast all day!)

The food here is simply not good, and is $6 to $8 overpriced for the quantity and quality. I last ordered the fried chicken and waffles. It turned out to be processed chicken tenders and waffles that were obviously premade. They didn't taste good. I'm pretty sure this is a freezer-to-fryer restaurant. The menu is too extensive to be able to actually cook everything on the menu. The best nearby alternative for breakfast and brunch is H&J's Restaurant in El Cerrito. The best nearby alternative for the Mexican menu items is Casa Latina in Berkeley. For burgers and sandwiches, go to 310 Eatery on San Pablo. For fried chicken and waffles, go to 900 Grayson in Berkeley.

How can I review a place that is not open when they say they're going to be? I went in this morning at 8:12 a.m. hoping to have breakfast. The website said they open at 8.a.m. The place had no lights on, the tables had chairs on top of them, no lights (did I mention it was dark and dreary, just like the morning outside?), two men talking. I asked if they were open, and he said yes, but the creeps came over me. Dark, unwelcoming atmosphere. Maybe another time? Folks, when a restaurant is supposed to be open at 8, the lights should be on, the tables set, the hostess or server welcoming the first patron with a big smile. This was NOT that place!

I'll try and be brief. One of the absolute best burgers in Berkeley -- specifically their signature "Duo Burger" (I always add bacon). There are a couple truly great burgers in this city, but I AM TELLING YOU this one is up there at the TOP. I wouldn't even normally go for this style of burger or its toppings but I just went with it and...well, what else can I say. (I do, however, always ask them to add bacon.) And secondly, the owner is incredibly nice. The service was great the few times I've gone or ordered takeout, and I can't recommend them more highly. My only suggestion to them would be to spruce up the interior at some point, maybe like more of a classic diner feel or something (obviously more of a post-pandemic priority). 5 Stars!
