It takes a lot for me to write a bad review but honestly, what happened to this place? I think they just wanted to upscale but overshot into class warfare. Worked nearby for years, come in on occasion, etc. Watched the regular crowd of local service workers, campus people, and tourists be driven away by the slow removal of all the things we enjoyed about the place. Today the music was so loud I actually left. Took the bartender two tries to hear me asking if it was intentional. I already have a hostile work environment that's why I *went* to the bar, if the bar is ALSO hostile then what's the point??

My recent dining experience at was overall satisfactory, with the food meeting expectations. However, there was a minor incident involving the misplacement of my Invisalign aligners. Unfortunately, they were mistaken for trash and inadvertently disposed of by a waiter. Despite my efforts to retrieve them, I had to rely on my friends to help locate them on the ground.The fact that I had to scramble on the floor to retrieve my belongings, with no help from the staff, speaks volumes about their negligence and disregard for customer care. It's baffling that such basic attention to detail is absent in a supposedly reputable establishment.In light of this disappointing incident, I hesitate to recommend this restaurant. Unless they significantly improve their service standards and instill a sense of responsibility among their staff, I suggest dining elsewhere to avoid similar frustrations.Dietary restrictions: for those with braces or invisalign.

I was disappointed as I'd been wanting to come here for awhile. My partner and I were greeted by the host who got us seated upstairs. We liked the menu and were excited to try some stuff. Unfortunately, we were ignored. We asked the barback twice, and he alerted the server who continued to ignore us. The real clencher is when the server seated someone and immediately took her order. We asked again to be served and were ignored. We walked out unhappy. We have both worked our share of food service, so we know how to serve in a busy restaurant. This was real amateur hour. I'm unsure if I'll give this place another try.

Came here tonight around 7:30 with my gf on my birthday to have a cocktail and some snacks. we were seated upstairs on the balcony, and were completely ignored by the server.After he served the girl right next to us (who had come in after us. she was served within 2 mins) and ignored us, I politely asked the bus person if they could take our order please. he said yes. sure.Then again we were ignored for a while until I asked again to be served and he said yes, no problem. Mind you we were sitting about 5 feet from the server the whole time! the upstairs is not big.He again ignored us. Then they decided to stop and chat for a while with other staff while I was literally staring at him hoping to get him to take our order.The bus person even pointed to us when he talked to him but still nothing.Eventually we had to just get up and leave. We even had to tap them on the shoulder to walk past them as we were walking out. No response at all. No apology. Nothing.It was really weird As if we were invisible.Disappointed. This place was recommended.

Great cocktails, service and food!! The ambience is what I like the most here.. chill vibes dim light makes it the perfect option for my husband and I to continue to pick for a date night!

This place is awesome food and a wonderful dark ambiance. Drinks are super creative and lots of options. They have a nice full bar on the first floor and extra seating upstairs. I am only leaving three stars because they seem understaffed. We waited an hour for food by which time we still didn't have our drinks. When I asked I was told they were busy and they would get there when they get there. I totally understand but something to be aware of. The drinks came well over an hour after we got there once we had finished our meal. Definitely willing to give another chance!

One of the few Indian restaurants in Berkeley that stays open late. The food and drinks are incredibly good. However, it's quite difficult to get a table unless you're willing to hang out at the very loud trendy bar for an hour or more with the young hipster college crowd.

Came here after a concert to get a drink and some Indian food. The older guy at the door was clueless and seemed like he didn't want our business. But with all else closed, we talked to someone else and got a table. Did not regret. Food and drinks were great. Ambiance was really good too. Would come back.

What an underrated spot! Right across from Berkeley campus, this place is a gem. A beautiful bar, high windows, outdoor seating, and a small upstairs dining area, this place is cute and cozy--perfect for dates and for hanging with friends. Love their extensive drink menu, both seasonal and classic drinks, they have happy hour, and they're open late! Service is great, workers are kind, and drinks and food are made with TLC. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area, and if I were a resident here, East Bay Spice would be a regular go-to spot for me.

The food was mediocre. But I could never focus on the food due to the awful experience. The lack of service and feeling like you have to beg for attention or service will never make for an enjoyable experience. If they let me lick a bar of gold as something special to experience; I'd never be able to enjoy it because I'd still be begging for a menu or water.
