We stopped by for some sweet treats and got the Honeyglow Pineapple vegan gelato. The flavor was nice, not too sweet, and was made from real pineapple. The drawback was that it was rather "stringy" and there lots of pineapple fibers, which took away the smoothness of the gelato. For me, it was just ok. I would definitely not order this flavor again and not so certain I would come back. It's a bit on the expensive side, $4.75 for a very small and flat scoop. I paid $9.50 for 2, and would typically get a little more at other gelato shops. If the gelato were great, then it may have been worth it, but it wasn't....

We tried the 3 limited/seasonal flavors: pineapple, mission fig, pluot and a regular flavor (strawberry). Honestly the flavors were a tad muted and not bright or bursting with peak ripened fruit flavor. Texture wise it was icier than expected. Very limited seating. Staff was super friendly. All in all it's a refreshing treat on a sunny day.

Sample limit of 2. Lactose-free; fruit flavours are light, almost healthy-feeling. Very limited seating.

Best gelato outside of Italy!!! I'm so glad I finally tried this place. Why is there not a line outside the door?

Always excellent gelato. Try the Tiramisu flavor, or the cherry. Matcha and chocolate also excellent flavors.

To call what Caravaggio's serves gelato is an insult to gelato.... Gelato is meant to be rich and creamy and extremely flavorful. Caravaggio's Gelato Lab is serving watery "ice cream" with lackluster flavors that left a slightly filmy substance in my mouth after tasting it. Disappointed to say the least after the fantastic reviews on Yelp. The best part of the Stracciatella ice cream I had was the chocolate inside of it (not a complement when I'm there to have delicious gelato). Overall, i wouldn't recommend trying it as it struck me as something closer to frozen yogurt versus gelato and that is SUPER disappointing, especially considering the price point it's being served at...

Ice cream is fine, a bit too runny, but a non issue. I do have a problem with false advertising. You can get a regular cup and large cup, however both choices are served in these miniature cups that by any standard are considered small. In fact, they don't even give you a full round ice cream ball. What you get is a STINGY wipe of runny Gelato flushed with a cup. Not sure what's the point of advertising two sizes when you sell only one - small and overcharge for it. Garbage.

I need this place in San Jose! Two words: Piedmont hazelnuts. It's perfect especially for being not overly sweet. Minus one star for the tiny portion I got.

OMG. My friend gave me dessert options, and I was intrigued by Caravaggio. We got here on a Sunday around 1 after cherry picking, and it was so amazing!! I tried the pistachio and liked it fine, and since I'm a nut gelato nut, I opted to get the regular size with pistachio and hazelnut. So creamy, perfect mouthfeel, and great flavor!! I am still thinking about it and was heartened to see that they had a delivery option on yelp (but they don't...since it appears I can only order cones) and I am craving it while I am sitting in the Doubletree Berkeley Marina, which feels like it might as well be across the Atlantic ocean from this Italian dessert Mecca, when you don't have a car. I want some more wah!! This is the best gelato I've had outside of Italy. In the states, I find myself eschewing gelato places in favor of premium ice cream spots only because it seems that most places are gelato in shopping malls or waterfronts, and not the real thing.

Pretty decent gelato in the Berkeley area! I've heard great reviews about this place and wanted to try, so I came around 5pm on a Saturday. There was no one inside so I was able to be served really quickly. I got the single scoop with mint scracciatella and passion fruit, and was happy to know they let you get multiple flavors in one scoop at no additional cost. The size of the overall scoop is quite small though for the price you pay. I was really excited about the mint scracciatella since I've never seen that before -- even though its really just mint chocolate chip. The mint tasted really fresh and I liked the chocolate shards inside as well. The passion fruit was quite tart and really strong, but I enjoyed it a lot. Worth a try if you're in the area!

Quality gelato, kind service, possible regular supply issue. I came here for late night dessert recently and enjoyed the range of unique options! Unfortunately, as many of the other reviews mention, they were out of a few of the flavors I wanted to try. Nonetheless, still enjoyed the Tiramisu and Blood Orange flavors we got. Blood Orange was my favorite, as it wasn't too fruity and refreshing throughout. Bit pricey, but glad I tried this place! Would recommend stopping by.

Tried it for the first time last weekend. What a delightful find. Great flavor options and the gelato is so good. Passion Fruit was so delicious ...

I tried Caravaggio a few years ago, before I realized that it was lactose free and low glycemic, and became obsessed (delicious flavors! Light and silky!). Now, as a lactose intolerant, expectant mother with gestational diabetes and a bone-deep craving for chocolate ice cream, I almost broke down and wept when I discovered that I can still have it. My husband and I drove more than an hour (round trip) to buy several pints; I would have driven much further! We have always had excellent customer service as well. Thank you, Caravaggio!

Terrific gelato, comparable to the gelato we had in Italy. And not too sweet. Their new flavor, Cannoli, is the best gelato we've ever tasted!! It's ricotta (we think), with bits of chocolate and orange.

Delicious Dessert Excursion, but horrible customer service Dessert: The gelato was absolutely delicious without being overly sweet. We ordered 4 different kinds of gelato. The mango and passion fruit were delightful tarty non-dairy options. The Matcha gelato was better than the cappuccino gelato. I am a big match fan and the Matcha gelato tasted high grade. As for the cappuccino gelato, I wished for more of a coffee/espresso taste Service: poor mannerisms, this was a breaking point for me. The lady was very snobby when assisting us. We were the only ones in there and she was just starring at us, no welcome or embracing gesture of help (it was our first time there). She was very short in her words and frowning the whole time. Perhaps a long day of work? I worked in customer service before; thus, that isn't an excuse....like hey just be nice. I rather take my money else where like down the street to U :Dessert or Gadani Compare: Yummy dessert but I rather go to Gadani or U: Dessert Story for their organic desserts and wonderful service. With excellent local competition, it truly goes down to customer service. Defiantly skip this place if you are with family and want a good experience for them. Personally, I wouldn't come again due to bad service
