There's a sign in the window saying this restaurant has been permanently CLOSED since 10/14/22. It also says they're hoping to reopen at a new location, but no update as of now (11/8/22).

The best Thai food I've had since coming back from Thailand! Absolutely amazing food! The khao soi and pad see ew were perfectly balanced with their textures, flavors, sour notes, and spice. Really can't recommend this any stronger.

I was walking through the neighborhood searching for something, somewhere nearby to eat and feel satisfied, at a reasonable cost. There are actually enough places to choose from, that are all within walking distance of each other. The Giin shop smelled wonderfully of spices. There was a menu full of great choices at reasonable prices. It was so difficult to make a single choice. So I didn't. I left with four selections. All of which were tasty, well prepared, warm enough to eat after I walked home. The portion sizes were adequate to share. Flavors were distinct, fresh, so tasty, and complimentary to each other within each dish. The Giin Thai Canteen is a local treat spot. It was really nice to see that they have been able to expand their business.

Good curry. Clean and quiet place. Can't say much about service since it was during the Covid pandemic.

-Ordered 4 classics: -PAD THAI: Tasteless, very little sauce and dry -PAD KEE MOW: also done with very little love, - CHICKEN SATAY: no skewers, very little spices, very little flavor - GREEN CURRY: runny, also lacking flavor Tried to call them many times: I got every time the voice mail does not accept messages or something like that" I was embarrassed by this take out in front of my family and will not come back!

Back in 2017 I was blessed to traveled around south and central Thailand for a month while doing work of one kind or another. I experienced a wide swath of the culture and tasting everything possible. It was revelatory and delicious. I love much of my time in that magical place and recommend every respectfully pay a visit to Thailand if possible. Yadda yadda, I went to Giin Thai while on my lunch break today and it's simply the best Pad See Ew I've had since being in Thailand. Or possibly ever. Easier five stars ever.

If you are looking for a nice cozy, hole in the wall Thai restaurant, then look no further... Giin Thai has been a favorite of mine since it opened in Berkeley a few years ago. What is nice about it is that the Thai food taste different than it does it pretty much any other Thai restaurant, which indicates a sense of authenticity. While it can be inconsistent at times, it is telling that they produce fresh food, which is depending on what's available. The ginger fish, the barbecue chicken, and just about any of the noodle dishes are real standouts. The decor is quirky, and fun. Parking is street parking, but usually available. The people in the front are very friendly and helpful. If you were in the neighborhood, and feel like some tasty Thai food, definitely give this place a try...

Ordered pad knee mao to go and was really disappointed. It tasted not good. So different from other pad knee maos I've ever had. Tasting super bland. No young green peppercorns like other people's photos and it was very very bland. I wasn't sure if I'm eating Thai food or something else that's just noodles with veggies, no flavor. There's basil in there but couldn't taste or smell.

Food was subpar. Cashier was not very attentive or welcoming. Cook wasn’t wearing a mask and she was yelling and swearing in the kitchen. Won’t be back

Unfortunately, it's no more than 2 stars for me. Very nice and hospitable people, who were willing to put veggies into my noodles. But niceness does not make up for the taste and quality. If you want Thai food, I don't recommend coming here.. both dishes we got had vague remnants of Thai flavors: thai basil, peppercorn, fish sauce, sweetness..but the proportions were totally off. No depth or specificity of flavors. I don't expect a lot for a quick, easy meal, but I do expect food to be what it's advertised to be. Sadly they did not deliver.. I hope they can improve their recipe and ingredients before we will return. All the best.

Friend got the Tofu Green Curry w/Eggplant (She said "this really hit the spot"), I got the pad thai with chicken (it had tofu and chicken in it, was pretty good but mostly noodles). The Thai Iced Tea was really good and sweet in particular, a great deal for 3.95

Favorite spot in the area. We order the spicy eggplant dish and the spicy garlic with pork and it is amazing out of the park every time.

Saturday afternoon spicy indulgence. The spice level for me was just right. No need to ask fir Chilli sauce. We had the Tom yum and pineapple curry with a mango sticky rice. The pineapple curry was in a league of its own. Succulent and spicy nuggets of pineapple with a dash of seasonal vegetables. The sauce is superbly spiced and flavorful. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Ordered the pad kee mao, chicken. Too much ginger and white pepper. Did not really taste like other Thai places. Every bite I took, it was nothing but ginger. Not sure if it was green pepper corn, but 3 huge pieces. The green bean did not taste fresh.
