The worst Cafe I've ever been to. You can get better food, service, and cleanliness in a 3rd world country. They have cream and jam outside sitting in the sun, waiting to make someone sick. Took 20 mins just to be acknowledged, another 10 mins after sitting to get a menu and another 30 just to get a coffee. Food tasted like it was about to spoil and was prepared anyway. They have the audacity to charge $20 a plate when you can't even tell what you're eating. Avoid with a 10ft pole.

They were storing the high chair, where babies sit, in the bathroom. A few feet from the toilet. When we tried to clean it, so much dirt and grime came off that we lost our appetites.Considering how extreme of a health code violation that is, God only knows what's going on in the kitchen.Eat here at your own risk.ETA: Funny how they only reply to 4/5 star reviews

This is my first time ever leaving a negative review somewhere, but feel it’s necessary. My partner and I had a terrible experience. The owner (or someone who works in the kitchen) was SCREAMING at the staff and threatening them with physical assault. There is clear dysfunction happening here and it shows up in the service and the food. I hope the rest of the staff is safe, because the environment doesn’t feel so. This was my second time here and I will not be returning.

We ordered the BG&C omelette - the egg was undercooked. The grits didn’t have any flavor.The sausage was undercooked and the chicken from the C&W was literally raw!The waitress seemed annoyed, its clear that this isn’t the first time it has happened. I saw many people in the restaurant complaining about their food and about the wait time.This place was horrendous!!!!We came here bc of the great reviews but it makes me wonder if these are actually fake.The bathroom was disgusting! Looks like it has never been cleaned. I took my toddler to pee outside instead.Please DO NOT waste your time or money on this place.It was straight trash!! Never again.After leaving this review, my next call is the Health Dept.This place needs to be shut down or at least a new staffI never leave these type of reviews but I have to warn all of you.

It was a bit of a walk from Downtown Berkeley to this cafe, but so worth it! Very small, only a few tables, but nicely busy. Amazing food....the brisket hash was phenomenal. They are "ethical" in that they apply a service charge to pay staff a living wage, and also support the homeless community....that sort of place that I had expected to find in Berkeley but hadn't seen until now. The clientele seemed to be mainly locals, as this is not close to anything like the marina or UC, so was super-friendly and lovely vibe.

First and last. Came in this morning. A beautiful day. Sat down at a table and was greeted by a friendly server. After about 5 min into enjoying my coffee, a cook from the back started screaming rudely at a server. I Have high blood pressure and was only expecting a beautiful meal to go along with my morning.Then the food came out. My Eggs Benedict came out with basically hard boiled eggs. The yolks cooked solid. I couldn't finish my $30.00 !!! meal.I recommend that staff gets some professional training in handling conficts and issues. I - the customer should not have to listen to a cook berating and screaming at a server for 3 minutes.
