We went there for lunch today and ordered the fish tandoori, stuffed paratha, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. The fish tandoori and stuffed paratha were pretty good but the chicken tikka masala was mostly tomato gravy with very few tiny pieces of chicken in it...regret getting that dish! If it were just for the food, I would have given a better rating but then we had to use the restroom and it was so smelly that I almost threw up!!! Would have ignored everything but to make matters worse, my husband had an upset stomach later in the day :(

Kabana is a local pakistani establishment. Been around for quite some time. Am a regular. Let's try and keep this place alive. Street parking only. Ordered take-out. Typical order: - Tikka masala, Garlic naan & Tandoori chicken leg (Order comes with side garnish: red onion, cucumber & small container of green sauce) Tikka masala infused with plenty spices, curry, plenty of chicken bits, very rich. Garlic naan comes in foil to keep it moist, airy & buttery, some pieces are more flavorful than the other, possibly from uneven sauce coating. Tandoori Chicken Legs is charred to perfection, good portions and tender. How to eat: Tear desired Garlic naan, strip pieces of Tandoori chicken leg & place on naan, wrap naan around chicken like baby in bundle, dip in Tikka masala sauce & Enjoy! The red onion & cucumber is a treat to eat after each bite (TIP: squeeze lime/lemon over red onion to decrease the spice or hot breath, whatever suits you). The small green sauce is a dash of Spicey chimichurri like consistency to add to masala sauce, if needed or not or eat it on its own. Overall I always enjoyed my orders here. Yes, customer service can be spotty but we are living in tough Covid times.

WOW. This place has amazing food for great value. For $26 (including tax and tip), I got the chicken karahi, lamb kabob, garlic naan, and basmati rice. I couldn't believe how much food it was for such a reasonable price. I'll definitely be coming back when I'm in the area!

Kabana is a Berkeley establishment. This restaurant has been around for many years. It sits on University Avenue, which is quite busy. But parking is typically available within 1 or 2 blocks. I typically go for the $8.99 for vegetarian entrees. These are the best deal on the menu. Add some basmati rice for an addition $3 and you have a large meal. I usually end up taking some home. Its a lot of food. And its filling. On my last visit the owner served me. We chatted a bit and he said that COVID had decimated his revenue. He also said that his input costs had gone up significantly. They are open for inside/sit-down dining. When I was last there, there were only 2 patrons in the entire restaurant. No reservations needed!

Horrible food and horrible service! (Ordered Chicken Biryani.... white rice was mixed with chicken curry, kid you not!) Don't waste your money!!

I came here with my Pakistani friend. I'm of East and Southeast Asian heritage and I definitely enjoyed their flatbread and tandoori chicken. Plan to park on the side street upon arrival. I would come back here!

Friendly, mask compliant. Food was excellent - in particular the stuffed naan and spinach paneer. We also had the goat curry, which was something I don't normally eat, but I enjoyed. Super friendly staff! Not expensive either, which is a plus.

The worst restaurant to eat at. Poor hygiene and worst customer service. Their restroom stinks and there’s flies all around the place. Also they had no ac to accommodate their customers, it was super hot.Worst experience.

I ordered paneer makhani through door dash. The order through door dash was smooth and I got to the place at 9:10 pm. Once I get there, I realize the door is locked. The owner opens the door and hands me the food but tells me the restaurant closes at 9 pm. Neither door dash or yelp show it closes at 9 pm. The owner refused to accept that it says the restaurant closes at 9:30 pm online. I was just happy I got my food. Now about the food: I get home, hoping to pounce on my rich flavourful paneer makhani. As soon as I take the first bite, my excitement was crushed. The paneer makhani tastes like someone took tomato basil soup and added paneer to it. There was no flavour of cashew and the rich makhani (cream) in the food. It was 3-4 pieces of paneer with tomato basil soup. Overall: I am disappointed by how the owner blamed me for arriving late and was not open to check Yelp & updating hours. Secondly, the food tastes bad. They need to fix their recipe. Added a pic

Unequivocally the best Tandoori fish in Bay Area. Add palak paneer and garlic naan to your order and 2-3 people can easily dine off that. Consistent quality. No nonsense staff. Ambience and noise mediocre but I start to miss their food if it's been a few months.

I went alone so they didn't give me much attention. However, their famous Chicken Tikka masala is amazing and affordable.

Best Pakistani food in Berkeley! This place has been around for years, and I am impressed at how consistent they keep the quality of their food. Being Pakistani myself, I am a tough critic of Pakistani restaurants and I have tried several in this part of the Bay Area. Kabana is definitely at the top when it comes to authentic Pakistani food. Now on to the food! This was my first time ever ordering the Plain Paratha, as it's very hard to nail a paratha, especially if you're like me and used to amazing street food parathas from Pakistan. I'll just say I'm so glad my dad convinced me to order and try it! It was unbelievably delicious and tasted authentic, so flaky, buttery on the inside and crisp on the outside, I was in high calorie heaven. It tastes great with chai or with a Chicken Karahi. The plain paratha is a must order when you go, you won't be disappointed! I also tried their mango lassi which was delicious, just wish it was colder. I'm a pescatarian so I ordered the Paneer Tikka masala instead of the chicken, and it was made very well. It tasted delicious with the fluffy garlic naan and dipping the paratha in that sweet sauce tastes so yummy! I do love spice so I think the tikka masala would taste amazing if it was a tad bit spicy with less cream, that would make it 5 star dish. My family and I love this place have been coming here for more than a decade. FYI if you're a goat fan order the Goat Palao (a goat bone broth infused rice dish with goat pieces), my parents couldn't stop raving about it. It's the only place they will eat when visiting Berkeley!
