I'm sad that this place is closing down. Note- It's closing on August 29th. The reason we stopped by was because we noticed the signs but after trying the ramen I wish they were going to stay open for a little bit longer. I got the tonkotsu ramen and my friend the black garlic oil ramen. Both were the perfect amount of rich fatty broth and salt. I might have added too much spice (I asked for medium) but it still worked well. The noodles had the perfect amount of chew. Overall, give them a try before you no longer have the chance.

So I'm super pregnant and I was in the mood for ramen being in Berkeley this is a great place. I called to place the order and they did not have some items which is fine I ordered veggie gluteal free ramen. Now I wanted to make sure the that the cutlery they use isn't the same for the fish/sushi that they have. I kept asking and she seemed unphased. I told her if it is not I can go in to anaphylactic shock( no joke) the woman got upset with me and said not I'm not taking your order. I only ask because they sell fish and some times gluten free places offer gluten free options but then use same ovens and pans as the regular food. It was super disappointing it is Berkeley people have allergies and want to make sure the proper precautions are taken. Instead of hanging up if she was unsure of the question she should of asked some one. TERRIBLE!!!!

We enjoy hanging out. Last night we found this superb place which friends recommended to us. We passed a delightful evening there with excellent cooking and an experienced crew and an impressive cook. We put this restaurant in our phone list and we will no doubt return soon. We warmly recommend.

I have been here multiple times and given this business fair and good reviews, but they have been removed. I don't know if the business is overly sensitive. This one star review is just for tonight's order. The lady was rude over the phone and required I come in saying she was very busy. The place was empty, you could hear a pin drop, and she was argumentative over the listed price for her vegetarian ramen, which clearly said $11.99. To that I had added a few things, like broccoli and bamboo to put some fiber in the bowl, which I added up easily based on the menu prices to a completely different number than she had. When I calmly asked her about it, she kept repeating a different number than was listed. I think there was a misunderstanding. She was rude again, and so I thanked her, put down the quoted order, and decided to take my business elsewhere. I hope they stay in business with the competitive neighborhood. We need the Chinese in this neighborhood. They have such a great work ethic!

**This review is for pre-quarantine times, though they are open for takeout during shelter-in-place too** I was walking through Berkeley with my boyfriend yesterday and passed by Kaze Ramen. We last came here a few months ago, before the whole shelter-in-place happened, and had really great ramen and customer service here so I thought I'd do a shout-out :) I usually don't crave ramen because a lot of times the broth leaves me feeling very heavy. But my boyfriend recommended this place and got us the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen with extra meat and eggs. To my surprise, the broth was actually really well-balanced in flavor and creaminess! The Chasu pork was tender and savory with the right amount of fattiness. The noodles were chewy and bouncy, which is hard to come across in my opinion because very few noodle places do it right. And my absolute favorite were the soft boiled-eggs! The prices were reasonable too, given the location was in DT Berkeley. The owners were super sweet and it was really nice to talk to them for a bit and hear about their passion for their business. Highly recommend this place once restaurants open again or even just for takeout!

Shrimp Dumpling Ramen is a shiny new item on the already fabulous menu! The shrimp filling of each dumpling is freshly made, very delicious and very plentiful. For each bowl of ramen, there are many dumplings (4 to 5 if I remember correctly), allowing anyone to eat his or her fill! As a bonus, it also comes with the secret-recipe black garlic oil, homemade chashu and non-MSG soup. This item totally differentiates Kaze from the rest of the ramen shops out there, and is recommendation I will make to anyone looking forward to a unique ramen eatery!

Very delicious ramen for a great price! I personally liked the Black Garlic Oil Ramen better than Ippudo's ramen because of the depth of flavor, texture of noodles, and the pork (lightly grilled, perfect amount of salt & fat). The gyoza was only $2 extra with the ramen, and I liked the chewiness of the dumpling dough a lot. The place is kind of small and tucked away between a lot of more popular food places, but I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Great Service with extremely flavorful black garlic ramen :). Definitely recommend getting the $2 sides of gyoza 5/5

Kaze is my go-to ramen spot in proximity to the UCB campus. The veggie ramen is spot on! I've tried several different options and they always deliver. I am somewhat mystified by the poor service reviews. At lunch time, when I typically dine here, the server on duty goes far out of her way to be accommodating and never fails to offer suggestions, or point out new (and even secret) items. Once, she even let me come back and pay another day after I realized I'd left my wallet at home...no questions asked! I love this little spot, and the delicious soup.

Kaze Ramen has been my favorite ramen spot in Berkeley for four years. I take all my friends there, and I am never disappointed. Their Black Garlic Oil ramen is delicious, in fact I'm craving it right now. The owner is a very sweet woman too. I have nothing but positive things to say about Kaze. Go there!

The vegetarian ramen at Kaze is one of my favorite ramen dishes in Berkeley. However, I reluctantly have to leave a poor review because the service is here absolutely DEPLORABLE. The waitress is always rude and looks at you like you're a piece of dirt on the bottom of her shoe. I'm pretty sure she must be related to the owner because there's no way in hell that she would still be working here with all the negative reviews about her. This woman is a nightmare and makes customers feel uncomfortable. The manager is never around and apparently they "can't be reached" either. Oh, and don't bother asking to move seats because she'll grunt at you and roll her eyes right out of the sockets...

Low key neighborhood ramen shop hits the spot every time! Not as as fancy as some other places around, but if you're looking for a tasty affordable option wIth an upbeat attentive owner definitely come on by.

Decent ramen. Not great but not bad. Lacks complexity.
