Review is for the SF location on Kearny, which is oddly marked as "permanently closed" even though it's open. (Maybe this will deter people and leave more katsu curry for me...!)Expect a long line starting at lunch at this popular place. I would highly recommend anything with curry, though my favorite is the pork katsu curry, which comes with rice, pickled daikons, and cabbage. Aldo pick up some mochi and the curry puff breads if you want a delicious savory snack. Seating is extremely limited, so i would highly suggest ordering online for pickup and eating elsewhere, such as Union Square. They accept both cash and credit, which is awesome, and when you order katsu curry to-go, they separate the curry so that your meal isn't too soggy. Most of the good stuff runs out by 6pm, so it's beat to grab this for lunch, especially on a chilly or cold day.Pro-tip: finish off your meal with a boba drink from Plentea, which is a couple doors down.

We went here because Champions Curry was closed, even though it was supposed to be open. What a shame. So very disappointed. But we were still craving japanese curry, so we went here. Hopefully Champions Curry is open next time. If not, I will have to take away a star from their review.

It was a perfect find for the rainy day! Lots of open seating, warm tea, and amazing curry was the perfect combination. The simple and homey vibe combined with cozy food just made this a great find. The menu is simple which is for the better giving you just the right amount of options. Curry came in 3 different heats with medium giving just enough heat for me. Staff was quick and very kind. Will come back

Very bad service. The waiting time is long and service is quite slow. The food is pretty nice, though.

Super delicious curry, very flavorful and good cuts of meat. A warm and welcoming atmosphere (shoutout to the Garfield and Miku drawings my friend and I spotted on our way out.) The portions are really big. My friend and I split one plate of curry with rice easily. If you visit, I recommend the croquettes, they were amazing!

Been going here for years and it’s been great, but today that changed. There were two young men serving during dinner and they weren’t being mindful of the customers. Had to flag them down many times because they were busy talking to each other. They were also speaking loud and yelling and disrupting the atmosphere; this has never been a problem until today. Very unprofessional for them to prioritize discussing personal matters above serving customers and as a result, the time I spent waiting for things was unnecessarily long. Additionally, there was hair at the bottom of my curry which is unacceptable. It only takes one bad experience to ruin things—won’t be coming back.

this was my first time having japanese curry and i have no words. WOW. i wish i would've taken a picture but i simply could not wait to eat it. here is my leftovers. all that was left was the rice which was a generous amount. my boyfriend got tonkatsu meal set which we demolished as well. COME TO MURACCIS. HE IS THE MANNNNNN.

I ordered a tofu salad, and which was 9 dollars. It was small and had raw unseasoned tofu on top. I didn’t even take a bite because I was so turned off, and I will say that I have never sent back food. They ended up charging me, which was upsetting because I was nice about sending the food back, and didn’t ask for a replacement but expected that it would be taken off the bill.

The chicken curry katsu at Muracci's feels like a comforting, cozy meal at home. The dish comes with a generous serving of rice cradling the katsu and curry together. I often pride myself on finishing my rice, but this portion had me packing leftovers. The curry is a customizable experience with options ranging from none to extra spicy, there's a flavor profile for everyone. I settled on medium, which delivered just the right amount of comforting heat. Even when I tasted the extra spicy, I found the intensity within a bearable range. This makes the dish a safe bet for both the spice-timid and the spice-adventurous.The chicken katsu, while being the centerpiece, was mostly decent. It didn't set new standards for breading or juiciness but carried the charm of a homemade meal. It wasn't the crispiest or the most tender katsu I've had, but it was definitely familiar and warm.If you're looking to indulge in the nostalgia of a generously served, home-cooked meal, Muracci's will stuff your belly. Perfect for those days when you crave simplicity and comfort.

The staff were very nice. The wait time for food was reasonable and the portions are very large. I felt that the curry was too sweet for my liking, but a hearty meal nonetheless.

Katsu Curry was delicious and we received extra curry after showing our Cal ID card! Ate near closing and the Beef curry ran out so we were suggested the Hamburger curry instead; however my friend was is allergic to egg which was mixed in the meat! Waiter came to ask how the hamburger alternative was and we notified him of the allergy and he was SO considerate and offered us TWO meals to take home! Didn't catch his name but he knows who he is!! Thank you!!

Saw a sign a while back that the free extra curry / rice promotion for students has returned and wanted to give it a try. The special is for dine-in only and you can't share 1 plate between people.Ordered the fried salmon because I was looking to try something new. The portion was MASSIVE and I was excited to dig into a plate of rice & curry (honestly with the fried salmon on the side). Jokes aside, it was pretty tasty but not spicy at all even thought I ordered their hottest level. They also offer brown rice which is a nice healthier option. Honestly if I'm in the mood for just curry and rice, I will probably come here. The staff was really nice and kept refilling my water as I went through this salty meal. It's a smaller restaurant with a moderate amount of seating, but they also do takeout. Good vibes, affordable, and generous portions. All things students look for in a college town

Muracci's comes about as close to my favorite childhood Japanese curry as any place possibly could. The best curry, the best katsu... I have spent 3 and a half years trying various katsu curry dishes in various parts of California in hopes of finding something that tasted even remotely like Curry House. Muracci's hits it right on the head. Will definitely be making the 8 hour trek up here just for this restaurant.

This place is pretty par-for-the-course as far as Berkeley spots go. There's street parking on Telegraph but that's never guaranteed so if you live nearby, just walk over! The food is decent and I ended up eating most of my karaage since it was crispy, well-seasoned, and very juicy! The curry had a nice texture with that classic curry aroma. I wish there were some veggies like potatoes or carrots in it to accompany the karaage and rice but I enjoyed it.They have good deals for students so give it a try!
