Viva passione! Il migliore caffè nella zona! This is the only coffee place I come to! I'm not even a big coffee drinker but every once in a while, I'll get a hankering and this is my go-to. It's the best quality I've found! What makes it even better is the staff are actually Italian! Finally!!! If you're looking for a true taste of an Italian espresso, coffee or gelato, come here!

We ordered "salmon poached eggs focaccia". They were out of focaccia, so instead they used tiny slider buns. The amount of food was tiny for an expensive dish (15$). So small that they actually cut the egg edges and put them underneath. I would give a lower rating, but I used to like this place other times.

Passione Caffe was the best venue for a private party, the three course meal was authentic and amazing and the tapas were perfect. Anyone wanting to host a birthday here should not think twice. Great venue with excellent, helpful and welcoming staff .

Do not waste your money on brunch food here. It does not match the menu description. Ordered the salmon and poached egg focaccia, which came out instead on a hamburger slider buns with a comically small salad. This was after waiting 15 minutes in line to order and 25 at the table. The good here is quite expensive for what it is. On the plus side, the coffee is good.

My experience at Passione Caffè in their gorgeous two-story, well-decorated café at 91 Shattuck Square was simply marvelous. The staff was friendly, quick, and accommodating and the food, drinks, and desserts were delicious! I highly recommend Passione Caffè to those looking for a quick and yummy lunch (or breakfast/brunch everyday), to snack and study, or for an authentic Italian coffee. Don’t miss out on the great happy hour/aperativo deals between 4-7PM! It almost goes without mentioning, but Passione Caffè is absolutely true to its slogan: “A corner of Italy in Berkeley.” From the food and drink to the atmosphere and the service, this is the only truly Italian café I have found in Berkeley! And that comes from over a year of experience living and traveling in Italy!

Besides the beautiful architecture and interior design of Passione Caffè--not to mention its convenient location next to Downtown Berkeley BART--I would like to point out some highlights on the menu. The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and made-to-order sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! The spaghetti with meatballs, their only Americanized dish, is to die for! The pizzas also are also made with home-made dough and gluten-free options are offered. Try one with fresh prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula! The fresh panini with Italian meats and cheeses round out the lunch menu. It is possible to have a filling lunch for $7-15, which is definitely reasonably priced by Berkeley standards! A serious final highlight was the artisanal gelato, made in-house by the Italian co-owner, Eleanora Cercatore. There are 12 flavors, weekly made with gluten-free options, that are displayed on a beautiful rotating wheel. The gelato is spectacularly tasty--I cannot recommend it highly enough! For your time, money, and fine Italian bites and drinks, I cannot recommend a Berkeley café more highly than Passione Caffè! Please pay them a visit soon--you won't be disappointed!

I've visited here several times and have always had a pleasant experience.

We had to stand waiting for a couple minutes to for the cashier to finish chatting up someone he knew before we could place our order. They have the food menu board positioned so you can't see it from where you actually order. The pasta portions are fairly small based on the price. Even with a very limited menu, they still managed to get one of our dishes wrong.

Great lively DT Berkeley spot. Wine, pizza, pasta, gelato. True Italian vibe, bright airy setting.

We came to the place on Sunday morning for some decent warm coffee and our favorite pastry Sfogliatelle but unfortunately they told me that they will not have that on the menu. We have to pick up some others which are almond cornetto and spinach cheese pastry. The Italian Illy coffee is a good combination with the pastry but we won't come back there next time as we Sfogliatelle seems the best which is no longer sold there anymore

Spacious and great location!

Best pastries, Caesar salad is excellent and the owners are so gracious and welcoming. They have a fun gelato spinner thingy that the kids loved.

Overall rating 3.5/5 Walked by this place many times before, but never stopped in for food! Saw the brunch menu and caught my eye, so my partner and I decided to give it a try. Overall, the food was ~okay~ and probably wouldn't come back again necessarily -- I personally prefer other brunch places in Berkeley! The prices weren't super high, especially in comparison to some places, like La Note or BSC, but then again the food itself was much more casual as it is a cafe. Honestly not even sure if food was worth the price itself. I got an avocado toast that came with spring mix, cherry tomatoes, and a little drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Honestly felt like the toast was simultaneously under and overwhelming. It might just be personal preference, but I like a simple avocado toast -- having additional toppings on it is fine too, but mine just ended up tasting like I was eating tomato toast :,( Which was unfortunate, as I love the subtle flavor of avocado and it is the most expensive aspect of the toast oof. My partner and I both agreed the potatoes were done very well though! Seasoning was good (not too salty, but lots of flavor), and the texture was nice too (soft and a little crispy). He got the omelette and felt that it was "okay"/mediocre (hard to make a Phenomenal Omelette for casual brunch). Ambiance was nice and a casual place for a quick meal/catch-up/morning newspaper reading (as it seemed for some of the other patrons in the cafe). Service was nice too! Probably a nicer overall experience as just your regular cafe to come and drink some coffee/eat a pastry, but just okay as a brunch experience.
