This is a remodeled version of that restaurant. Very clean and modern looking. The food was delicious but a bit expensive and on the smaller side. Good selection of beers, too. I wish they could turn on outdoor heaters which didn't work but it was not that big of deal. They also have large parking and a lot of street space.

PICANTE IS BACK!For years, Picante was our regular taqueria. Our family would visit about once a week. Consistent, crowded, cozy, and comforting. After the sale a few years ago, and the pandemic, the quality suffered and the in-restaurant dining shut down. We tried going back a couple times each year and were always sad. When the dining room reopened after the remodel, we decided to give it another chance. We’re so glad we did. The food was fresh and flavorful. And the decor, while not as homey as the old space, was clean and inviting. It looks like the glass doors to the patio open up which will be nice in the summer. The prices are higher ($5 iced tea) and the portions are smaller than they were (though these feel good). We probably won’t be back every week, but we’ll be heading back for sure.Vegetarian options: Separate vegetarian menu.

Hard to write a review without the context of how great this place used to be. This place used to be fun, authentic, kid friendly, great atmosphere.... Now, it's quite sanitized, the fun walls and art replaced with bleak modern soul-less art. Strange music intended to be hip emanates from the speakers, but when it stops the restaurant is SO quiet... Like people whispering awkwardly in a fine dining establishment. The dining crowd used to be diverse, now it's mostly an older white crowd. Kids used to be able to run around and scream...no way that could happen now without sticking out like a sore thumb. The food is the same - totally fine. But the free salsa which the food needs is absent. The menu has changed with most plates coming ala carte, so adding rice and beans adds $8 dollars - if that's something you liked, be prepared to pay for it.The whole thing is disappointing. They had such a good thing going, and all the things diners loved are gone. Why not open a different restaurant if they wanted such extreme changes? Did some architects who never talked to customers convince the owners to do this? I'd be surprised if they'll ever have lines out the door and scores of families visiting again. Sigh.

Been going there for the last 10 years when the restaurant was open .recently made a 3 steak taco dinner and was told that everything is separated now I have to pay separate for my beans .now the three tacos are $19 .. i’m sorry I’m not going to pay for your remodel . You just hurt me and my family for going there. You should’ve counted the cost before you started this project . your prices are ridiculous now . would not be going back there sad that I can’t see your remodel when is finish

I’ve been a customer over 15 years food always been good. But having to eat it outside my food will get cold but the prices when up!one taco with no beans $6.00 that’s ridiculous before it was served with beans. The quality of food down graded. It use to be my favorite place not no more.

Have come here for years, and I always enjoy the food, but lately the prices are out of sight. I don't think I can afford to bring my family here any more.

What can you say about Picante other than WOW! I was on my way over to my warehouse on Jones street where I keep a small supply of Brinker Hadley Soearhoffers and Pigtillian Langerhans for use in the bull run, and passed by Picante Restaurant....Well let's eat, I said outloud startling the woman on the sidewalk, and as I was parking she comes over and asks what we're having....I told her Mexican, and she said she wanted Italian and walked away. The food at Picante was Amazing! It was perfect in every way, 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

If you love Mexican food that’s rather health conscious, this is your spot. Their food is SO fresh, with high quality ingredients, cooked with minimal oil.I ordered a fish taco and a shrimp taco which were both battered & fried but it wasn’t greasy or oily at all. Like I didn’t even have to wipe my hands on a napkin after picking them up and eating them ?Flavors were on point too.Pretty sure their flour tortillas are house made, which were delicious. And the chips were thiiiiic .
