I order tandoori chicken and rice which was cold, microwaved, and restaurant and server is so dirty. Please don’t go there to waste your money and time.

Really tasty Naan and kebab. They make everything fresh and full of flavor. The goat kebab was cooked very tender and the meat fell off the bone.

Dined too close to closing time. So unwise. Plus there are homeless camps right outside.

Had a very bad experience. Restaurant was empty, but my order took like 45 minutes, I suspect maybe the chef had quit. The Pakora appetizer seemed reheated, not a good thing for fried food. The Chicken Tikka was not good. The Garlic Naan also seemed not fresh, tough and unpleasant to eat. I don't know what is going on there but I would stay away.

Tandoori Nite closed long before COVID, so this review didn't hasten its demise. It used to be really good. I was annoyed when I discovered it in late 2016 because by that point, my office had been within a few blocks for more than a year, yet I hadn't ever made it this far down University Avenue on the south side of the street. My lack of curiosity had caused me that much less mouth time with this place in its prime. The lunch buffet was cheap, delicious, and plentiful. They didn't seem to skimp on anything, and even though you were eating them out of house and home, the people who worked here were always polite and offered excellent service. I came once at night, but I won't write about that because it seemed to be a uniquely bad night at Tandoori Nite. I don't know what the heck happened, but suddenly, there were all these UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT banners everywhere, and the food quality seemed to go downhill. There were fewer items available in the buffet, and it was always a mess. The host or manager or whatever his job title was always seemed apologetic, but nothing ever seemed to get better. I felt sorry for him. I think it changed ownership or management a couple of times after that, and it was just really bad. I stopped going for the buffet, and without the buffet pricing, the food really wasn't worth it. By the time it finally closed, I wasn't even sad. It just seemed like nothing could save this place.

Grand opening banner caught my attention, but the name isn't new until a closer inspection in small letters (under new management). Sidewalk sign showing 20+ items for buffet with pictures of each, but no price listed. It wasn't all that as condiments count as item too. I nearly walk out, but if I do I won't be back until early july as I'll be heading back home to summerlin. Host approach me asking if I'll join them I said why not? Normally I wolf down three plates at indian places, but here I was held back for two plates with nothing enticing after that. They use only halal meat cook in small batches. Choice of regular or garlic naan. I like what I ate just wish for more spices and that would be difference maker. One more thing, the salad salad look sad not worth the effort to try anything except kheer. Overall you get what you pay, but at least a dollar off until end of april yippee.#downtownberkeley #newmanagement #onedollaroffmarchtoaprilonly #regularandgarlicnaan #waterrefilltwice#halalmeat

Today Aug 18 I have had buffet lunch at the Tandoori Nite restaurant with my friend.I saw the white table cloths I thought might be a good restaurant but the food quality was very bad, all leftover food looks like they are serving the food from yesterday.Unhygienic food and vegetable coased me health problem, me and my friend got sick I just got off from urgent careMy Stomach has damaged!!!Before you eat think and check the food quality and hygienic then ensure it's not leftover???Be careful about your health!!!
Update! New Tandoori Chicken, Pakoras and Garlic Naan. Wow! If you wrote this restaurant off, it's time to try it again. As a weekly patron, I have been witness to the ownership change and the positive changes in the food. I love the fact that the new owner truly has an interest in our feedback and makes changes accordingly. Today I got to try the new Tandoori and it was so good that I couldn't stop licking my fingers. Perfectly seasoned, one piece is plenty; wow is an understatement. The Garlic Naan, still delicious with the marinated garlic, was now softer and buttery. The pakoras are now completely different, and in a good way. No longer hard, they have a new dough, are softer but crispy, and the seasonings are complimentary. I will also say that their paneer is so soft and creamy, it's not to be missed. The saag is equally delicious and seasoned in a way other restaurants don't do it. Their chicken curry is also not to be missed with tender chicken cuts and a well seasoned, not overpowering, curry. Their Raita is also perfectly seasoned with cumin seeds, the tamarind chutney is just right, the chai tea is delicious and their dessert is great too. All of this was in a $12.00 lunch buffet. (Monday-Friday, 11:30am-3pm) Ps. The food in the buffet is also fresh and they continue to replenish it right on time. Nothing is old, nothing is cold or stale. Without question, this is a business worthy of your business. Delicious food, great service, calm ambiance, clean facility, polite patrons, and affordable prices. I wanted to also add something important - indian food is not cheap to make. The profit margin on buffets is barely $0.75 per person. If we aren't respectful of the portions we are eating, this restaurant may suffer the same fate that all buffets do - go out of business. So please, lets keep them in business so we can continue to enjoy it. This also means not wasting food. Another thing to know is that they do catering and have parties for very reasonable prices. The weekends are a perfect time to bring some friends and eat family style (order several dishes and split the bill between 5-10 people), and the cost can still come out to $10-$12 a person. Don't wait for an event to come here, perhaps bring your bi-weekly club or community association meeting. Lets keep this wonderful family in business and bring them business. :)

6/25/2019 Egads , what happened? , new management changed for a 3rd time this year? tomatoe soup based CTM. Not even warm. Gross. . Very slimey over cooked rice pudding? Did they put the old batch and recook it with a new one or something. Really Bad - no cardomon flavor. Water, Rice, milk, something slimey, sugar. Undercooked spinach. edible but not right. some vegetable potatoe dish, was staring at me partly as it was sunk in redish oil. But it wasnt until i took a spoonful of rice pudding that i realized, what the funk! quality control here failed. My tomatoe soup based ctm had me probably eating corn syrup solids. I was like, dude, you cant eat here again. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen get that guy out of there before he tanks your bussiness. ahhhhh so long, my once fav grubby palace. I shall not return until things improve or the other management returns from thier vacation .And when the A team returns and waves there glorious banner under new management, please bring some spice level to the dishes. Recommended new name : Chili Nite

Veggie korma, chicken coconut, and chicken Tikka masala were excellent. Shrimp biryani was a bit off, and we were not charged for it. Worth a try. If you're looking for Indian
