Yeah the food is good but getting yelled at by cashiers with attidudes sucks that and no Chila quiles what's up with that??
Great food super cheap prices definitely a go to place for a meal or even dinner the rice and beans are to die for
Great place for soft tacos and Taco Tuesday. The fish tacos are delicious and what I like to order on the regular. For a local chain restaurant, the quality is outstanding and inexpensive. Way better then the bell place if you are looking for fresh and natural tasting food. I find this spot well run with great customer service, orders are done timely and ready for pick up. Another item worth trying at Hole Mole is the asada, it is lightly seasoned and cooked till tender. It pairs well with the mild salsa. Definitely good with a beer, too... which they have as well. Before the quarantine, one the best deal to have at the restaurant was the beer and tacos combo. A super cheap deal and best enjoyed in their patio. If you like casual Mexican fare, this spot is worth trying.
They currently have takeout, dine-in and curbside pick-up options! I have been a fan of hole mole for their Taco Tuesday deal and happy hour combo, but they have gone above and beyond during the pandemic. The ordering process online is super easy; they do charge a 10% service fee if ordering online. I don't mind this process as it saves me from having to physically pay at the store - I don't need to bring any cards/cash to the store when I pick up. In fact, their curbside pickup is awesome! You simply call the store when you arrive and they bring it to your car. It takes like 1 minute and they always verify which store you're ordering/picking up at. The food is super great too! The ensenada fish tacos are one of my favorites. The fish is battered and fried to a nice crisp. The cabbage and tomato toppings are fresh and complement the fish. The carne asada tacos are also seasoned well. I recently tried their mama's nachos with meat (carnitas) and now I order them every time. Crispy chips, well-distributed beans, cheese, meat. They even top it with guac and sour cream. It's a decently large portion for $9 and is still great the next day in the toaster oven. the staff are super nice and accommodating!
I am a fan of their taco Tuesdays. I normally order a few of every tacos for our group but I liked the beer battered fish the best. I like the fact that they have an open salsa bar. But they lose out on one star for cleanliness. That being said I can see myself coming here again
Such a yummy place! We went in on a Saturday around 6:45 and it was my first time ever. I heard the fish tacos are amazing so I knew i wanted something fish but I was a bit more hungry and felt tacos wouldn't fill me up all the way so I got the fish burrito! There were only 7 customers allowed inside and they definitely practiced the 6 feet distancing. I also got the horchata! It was super yummy and not grainy at all! The burrito itself, I couldn't taste the fish completely but it was still super yummy, I was just expecting more of a fish taste.
I’m not one to leave a review but I think for being your across the street business neighbor we could get some decent customer service when I’m ordering $30 worth or food from you guys. On 5-5-20 I placed an order over the phone after waiting 20 minutes on hold to be greeted by a lady who had a horrible attitude over the phone, didn’t even sound like she likes working there. I asked her can you give me one second literally one second and I guess she thought I wasn’t going to hear her and she sighed LOUDLY following a loud OH MY GAWWWD. I replied did I offend you and she ignored me. I canceled my order and will not be giving you any of my business anymore. Horrible service.
Terrible service! We ordered through Uber Eats and originally it was supposed to take 20-30 min. It took over an hour, the driver had to wait outside for 20 minutes! When we finally got our order, it wasn't even the entire order! We were missing a burrito and extra salsa, which they charged. The driver told me it was a mess! They need to get their acts together.
the ensenada fish taco deal on taco tuesday is one of the best taco tuesday deals around. it's all day and while not very fancy, the tacos taste better than most. the same could be said about their salsa but the free yellow seasoned chilis are uniquely theirs and taste great on their own or paired with anything else on their menu we've had every other taco and they're all pretty much a miss for our palette. just get 3 or 4 fish tacos each and you won't be disappointed. they are consistently good and cheap and this place deserves 4* on the weight of those alone thank you !
Great food great service especially in tough times like these.
Awesome food and service. Came for the Ensenada fish tacos are the we're AMAZING!!! Open 11-8 due to COVID-19.
HORRENDOUS service, couldn't believe how bad it was. The water (and all the sodas here for that matter) taste like actual toilet water for whatever reason so if you don't mind putting up with the god awful service, then please do at least bring your own drinks. Have you ever seen the show "The Profit" featuring Marcus Lemonis? He needs to come here and fix this TRAIN WRECK of an establishment and set every rude employee that works here straight. It's bad. ZERO STARS.
Consistent is Key and this Holy Moly is the best out of the ones I’ve been to in OC
Excellent fish tacos. Definitely coming back for more.
My review used to be 4 stars. Background: we have gone to Hole Mole for a long time and we've all all types of tacos there. We get the urge for tacos, and it's our "go-to" place. The place is "rustic," but we don't care- we're there for the delish tacos. We went 4 days ago and I decided to try something different, so I ordered chorizo and eggs in lieu of my normal taco order. My family stuck with tacos. The chorizo and eggs tasted decent, but here's where things went south in a big way: I caught food poisoning, and I'm still recovering from it. (I'm positive it was from this restaurant- I didn't eat anything else that entire day.) I am updating my review to subtract a point because of the food-borne illness, but honestly, the fried tacos have always been safe and delicious. We will still be back for tacos, but I plan on steering clear of trying any dishes with eggs/processed meat, which have the highest risk of FBI.
Workers are friendly. Food is good, location isn't particularly spacy so at certain times it can feel a little crowded, but normally it's good. They have great cooked peppers! If you get food they're totally free, and you can have as many as you want. But it's really fun because the spice usually changes from visit to visit, so you never know if it's going to be a super spicy one, or a super mild one. If you need a good light taco, or a horchata mixed with a latte, I'd definitely hit it!
Favorite spot.. $.89 potato tacos are addictive!! Bomb fried ice cream, although i think the last time i went the corn flakes they put on were stale so not a full five star(costa mesa)
Bomb fish tacos definitely a must try. Better than chronic's it was pretty clean when I came on Thursday afternoon idk what these other people are talking about
Y'all this review isn't about the ambience of the restaurant. It's not about having a friendly greeting as I walk in the door. This review is all about Hole Mole's delicious fish and shrimp tacos!!! I used to live in Long Beach and there were quite a few locations close to me. Once I moved out of the area, I kind of forgot about them. Not because they weren't great, but because it was too far to head to Long Beach for some cheap tacos. Here's what you should know. Taco Tuesday: $1.19 tacos & shrimp tacos $1.99. You can go to those fancy taco places for $18 tacos, a nice experience, to chop it up with friends, to have margaritas, etc. But if you want yummy tacos at a great deal...you need to try Hole Mole. Fish tacos - big pieces of well seasoned light and crispy fish. Cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and crema. Delicious. Get it! This is their specialty. Shrimp tacos - also big pieces of slightly sweet, crispy breaded shrimp with all of the same garnishes as the fish taco. Go ahead and splurge the extra $0.80 for these bad boys. They are awesome. Tallboy Special (weekdays 3-6pm): 3 tacos + 24oz. can of beer = $6.00. Yes, that's right $6.00. Are you kidding me? If I was a big beer drinker, I'd do this deal in spades all day...well just weekdays during the times provided! But I'd do this in a heartbeat. Roasted chillies for free! They could literally sell these chillies as an appetizer. Warning to some, they may be spicy hot. Salsa bar - I love a good selection of salsas and condiments. Radishes, limes, spicy, mild, green salsas. I know they have sign saying that the plastic containers are for to-go only, but come on, I use the plastic ones to eat in because those paper containers wither away pretty quickly. Tried their nachos...not worth it. Chips and guacamole...not worth it either. There may be other things that are good here, but I stick to the fish and shrimp tacos and I am never disappointed. Okay, one time the shrimp tacos was overly salty. Cook got a little excited with the salt that day. Heads up: If you come on a Tuesday, you may need to hover over people to scoop up a table. You may need to bus that table yourself. The place has very limited seating and fills up on Tuesday, you know because great tacos for cheap! The line might be out the door, but moves pretty fast. You may have to play frogger to move between tables, the salsa bar, and the food pick up window. This is all part of the fun Taco Tuesday at this Hole Mole!
Hands down for taco Tuesday.! Pozole is flawless and salsa bar is always on fleek.! The chile weros seasoned to perfection..!! Place is nice very busy and the food is amazing.! Highly recommend this place for mexican food..! Taquito rolls are my favorite with the special sauce they add..!! Highly recommend.
I've been to a lot of Taco Tuesday places but I especially like this one for the consistency, convenience, easy to pick up, free hot chili peppers, and hits the spot! This place always gets super packed on Tuesday so get prepared to wait in line for a bit. For only $1.19, there are 6 meats to choose from for Taco Tuesday which are fish, asada, carnitas, el pastor, chicken and shrimp (which costs more). I've tried of them, my absolute favorite is the fish, so crunchy, soft, fresh, and delicious! While waiting for your order, make sure you stop by the salsa bar for Pico de Gallo, green salsa, or lime. And when you got to the pick up area to pick up place, dont' forget to grab a few large hot chili peppers. It is the sprinkle on top on your ice cream! The only complains I have is the cleanliness of the salsa bar area, its always messy, and it's not hard to find spills and salsa cups everywhere. Also, it will be nice to offer flour instead of corn for you tacos... Warning - I do recommend biting on the sides of the chili, but do not bite on the middle part of where the seed, it will give you real serious kick on the butt! Have some water ready because tongue will burn for at least 15 mins!
I ordered several tacos of carne asada and carnitas. They were surprisingly good as well as the fish tacos. My bf had 6 of them.... So maybe good is an understatement. I see us going back, so I definitely recommend.
I was driving home from work the other day and I was craving Mexican food, but I didn't want to go to a sit-down restaurant or Del Taco or Taco Bell, so I decided to get some food at Hole Mole on my way home. I haven't been here in a while, but their food was just okay. I got a fish burrito and a couple of potato tacos. The potato tacos were very small and filled with cheese and not a lot of potatoes. The flavor and texture let a lot to be desired. As for the fish burrito, it lacked fish, as there were only small pieces in the tortilla and tasted mostly like cabbage since that seemed to be the main ingredient in the burrito. Overall, the place was clean and the people were friendly, but the food did not live up to the hype. I was very disappointed in the lack of flavor. I don't think I'd stop here again.
Not the best. There is much better Mexican food around, the prices are very cheap though.
After the Hot Dog place went out of business at this location, I have passed by this place many times. So intrigued! Saw Holé Molé on Beach Blvd. but never wanted to stop as this is now a shady environment. Homeless people and druggies everywhere! So my wife and I decide to give Holé Molé off of Adams in Costa Mesa a try instead of The Habit next door. Big mistake! We walk in, not greeted and proceed to order. The cashier is half asleep and unenthusiastic! I asked what was the best item on the menu and she suggested the fish taco. I order it. I also ordered the beef taco and my wife orders the fajita taco (which the cashier had no idea what it was or how to pronounce it - and she was hispanic). Bad sign! We also order a side of chips (most places are free) and a side of Guacamole. We went to the salsa bar and the super small paper cups were pretty much a joke. They broke down after 10 min. Couldn't dip the chips we had to purchase in these small ridiculous paper cups. The salsa was pretty much uneatable, tasted like it was fermented bad tomatoes. So bad! The guacamole we paid for was so bad and had so much lime, its was awful and went in the trash! Wife's veg fajita taco was just meh she said (would never go back), my fish taco was all tartar sauce (nasty) and the beef taco was really good, but would need to order 2 to satisfy me! It takes a lot to make us unhappy, but this place made the mark! All in all, just stay away from this place! If the service was better, it might make up for the bad salsa bar and below par food! Sorry, hate to be negative, but this place just missed every mark! One and done!
Come here from 2-6pm everyday! it’s fire. 3 tacos and a tall can of Mexican beer for $6bucks. I loved the food so much I order it twice. Forgot to take a picture. But will definitely be back for more.
Unfortunately, I must give one star to rate this restaurant. I love the Hole Mole on Beach Blvd. This location is not the same. Argumentative cashier and manager. Manager violently through the food I ordered in the trash when I told them they made a mistake on my order.
Hole Mole is the bomb! Their fish tacos are the best in orange county, in my opinion. I normally get three fish tacos and it's only $7 - plus it fills me!
Has yet to disappoint me. A must Go-To when visiting Orange County. Everything is good especially its horchata.
Love Taco Tuesday. Awesome fish and shrimp tacos. No matter how busy they get, and they get busy in Tuesdays, staff is friendly.
Way better than I expected. I assumed just another taco Tuesday or run of the mill taco joint. It is a bit on the pricey side, but for the portions, freshness, and flavor balances that out. I got an Ensenada Fish Burrito expecting to save half for later, ate the whole thing, no regrets.
Food was just fantastic....cook that iOS there on Sunday is awesome .
Now we are talking, Corona beer, in 24 oz cans, works with there daily deal, 3 tacos and abeer, 6 bucks, sorry HB. I tried
Ordered Tuesday Tacos... Enseneda Fish and Shrimp were great and tasty... Carne Asada sucked and very dry.
Authentic Mexican food. Great price. Nice location. A must stop for me
Although I have been a long time customer from Hole Mole, I personally think that the Tustin location is better than Costa Mesa's. The customer service is great but the meat is very dry :(
The food was very tasty. But $10 for a bowl of rice and mole with a small drink is overpriced.
Love it! Delicious salsa, food is done really quick and especially not so crowded during lunch hour
Fresh ingredients and jumping with flavor. Homemade chips and salsa. So good. I'll be back.
