PLEASE BRING BACK SINGLE SLICES FOR PURCHASE!I don't know when this changed, but being forced to buy two slices is weird. I am one person, I only need one slice. I love your pizza, please return to the good old days. Thank you.

Staff is super friendly, I wanted to take home a day old pizza but couldn't fit it in my backpack and the lady was nice enough to cut it in half and wrap it for me. Worker owned coop. Pizza is delicious.Kid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes

While visiting our daughter in Oakland, we heard about Arizmendi’s Bakery & Pizzeria and had walked by on a Tuesday, but unfortunately for us they were closed. They are open Wednesday through Sundays! The first time I went into their store it was early in the morning and I almost passed out from the aroma of their breads. I purchased their sourdough and garlic Parmesan breads and some of their scones! Every was delicious and the breads weee still warm having recently come out of the oven. The last time I went there, I purchased a container of their red lentils soup that was spicy and delicious! While we had to fly back to New York, we’ll be returning soon. We also purchased one of their pizzas that was also great! And their prices are surprisingly reasonable!

The corn cherry scone is awesome, and the bread remains big and reasonably priced compared to a lot of other bakeries nearby. However! The pizza, while nice, is so boring! Despite the change up of ingredients, it always hits the same dull note. Never with tomato sauce or meat. Good to check in with a few times a year, but not much of a daily go-to.The real problem with this place is that there’s a permanent homeless encampment in the outdoor eating area, and it has become so foul and disgusting that you can’t actually sit there and eat. In fact, going and coming through the side door is very unpleasant, with pools of urine, feces, horrible smells, and unwashed humans dozing in sleeping bags or occupying the chairs meant for customers. The windows are filthy, and the place looks like it hasn’t really been cleaned in years. The owners would do well to hose down the outside and scrub it with bleach, at least weekly, and ensure that it remains in inviting space for patrons. And wouldn’t it seem that the worker-owners, who come and go every day, might look at the windows and surroundings and think “maybe we should clean this place once in a while and have some pride in our business”? Do collectives die by apathy?

It’s very dirty and employees have no idea of health and safety code. And you have to buy 2 pcs min. At this location. Emeryville management definitely needs to mirror the Lakeshore

Excellent sourdough bread. 4 stars instead of 5 because they don't have a bread slicer in store, so I'll have to do it at home.

I’ve really tried to like this location, Lakeshore is my favorite location. Almost every time I come to this location there’s an issue. The last time I was here the pizza was too hard to eat and when I said something I was told that’s how it comes which isn’t true because I eat here a lot and especially at Lakeshore. Today I went in because I saw there was mushroom pizza thinking let me just ask for thicker crust. The same guy (older Italian dude)…I asked for a half of pie with one of the thicker crusts. I asked because I can see there are some with thicker crust and he says they’re all thin. They’re all the same. I pointed out to him there were some that looked thicker, but he waived his hand blowing me off. I then let into him a bit because I didn’t appreciate his disposition. Anyways, it’s always a question of is it who he sees that he has a problem with? Or is he just a rude cantankerous person? It’s not only disheartening but it’s disappointing to feel like as a customer if I’m asking for something it’s a problem…so I will never come to this Location again I think I’ll stick with Lakeshore. And I wouldn’t recommend this location either. It’s a bit dirty and the customer service sucks!!! The bread and sweets are just ok too.

Delicious pastries made fresh every morning, sourdough bread and savory items made with the same sourdough like their cheese rolls or the X-rolls which are cheese rolls with a veggie(s) that changes throughout the week. The breads also rotate throughout the week, my favorite are the potato bread and the olive sourdough. Can’t leave the shop without an oatmeal cookie.Everyday they make vegetarian pizza, there’s even a vegan version of the daily pizza, also their delicious cheese pizza which uses their made from scratch marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese ( you can take a cheese light bake pie and put your own toppings at home to finish it your way!!)Coffee, lattes, tea, and other hot drinks along a few cold soda drinks.Their green sauce it’s a great addition to your pizza. You can also grab soup, salad and hummus for a complete family meal.If you go there early you can also catch something called “egg in the hole” marinara sauce, mozzarella and/or other cheese, one egg and some veggies in a baked pastry!!Dietary restrictions: VeganVegetarianWhet freeWheelchair accessibility: Street level not requiring ramps from the sidewalk.

The pizza great-grandpartent of most of the good California style pizza places in the East bay, Arizmendi DNA, can be found in the pizza sold at Nabalom, (my favorite), Cheese Board, Sliver and others, since the delicious crust recipe, trickled down, from employees of Arizmendi and Cheese Board, who after years working the old school establishments went on to open their own Pizza and Bakery spots.A little different from the other Pizza/Bakery spots, Arizmendi has three choices daily, the daily special, the vegan, and a more traditional cheese and marinara pizza. Sold as "quarters" (2 slices) for under $8 with a tip, this is a fairly priced spot for the neighborhood. Also they have a very respectable bakery, in which lovers of Cheese Board, will see the same kind of baked selections, presented the same way, in a wood case with transparent swinging doors. The cheese slice, a cross between the thin crispy pizza of a New York slice as served at places like Arinelles, and the puffier pizza sold at most pizza places, had a nice chewy texture and the sauce was great. The daily special, (mushrooms and red onions), is the most Berkeley type slice here, and was like a slice from the Cheese Board, only slightly puffier.I recommend this place if you find yourself on the waterfront in Emeryville, for delicious pizza. They also make a respectable Cafe Latte, and have a nice outdoor seating area.

We went today, Saturday around 9am. It was raining. We found parking right in front. The line was around 6 deep, but it went fast. Everyone seemed to know what they want. This was our first time visiting. We found them on a PBS show. Check Please Bay Area was the name of the show. They talked it up so good that we had to try it out. We got a variety of baked goods. They were right it was $10 per person. We were a group of 3 and got more than enough baked goods for breakfast and a loaf of bread and 3 cookies for later. We got the following: Pecan roll- a sticky bun. Very good. Beats Cinnabon. Corn Blue Berry Muffin- Just the right amount of sweetness and blueberries, I really liked the corn meal texture. One of my favorites, very unique and not like your typical blueberry muffin. Coffee Cake Muffin-The top Half was a coffee cake crumble. The muffin seemed like a sweet moist bran muffin. It was delicious. A fan favorite. Scone- I think blueberry, but not quite sure. I loved the sugar outside and soft moist inside. It was one of my favorites. Zucchini's muffin, was just ok. We also got the potato loaf and shortbread cookie, molasses cookie and another cookie. We're saving them for later. When we got home we cut all of the goodies in 4ths and shared them all. A great way to really experience the whole bakery. We didn't get any of the savory items. We're go again and try them on our lunch visit. I highly recommend this bakery. The prices are incredibly low and well worth the money. I didn't notice any prices on the baked goods, just names. We wanted the pizza, but it wasn't going to be ready till 10:30, only a little wait, but we were hungry and wanted to get home. If you're in the area this is a must stop. They have 3 locations. Oakland on lakeshore, Emeryville down the way from IKEA, and SF.

We normally get some blueberry muffins and each one of us gets a cup of coffee to go with. Their coffee is never as good as Peet's or Cheeseboard's, but today's (1/6/2024) coffee was so bad that after a sip, we had to dump it in the sink. The idea of employee-owned business is great, but if that is the case, they should taste what they are serving and charging money for every pot of coffee that they offer. We should have tasted it at the store and requested the refund right on the spot.
