It felt nice to eat out again while feeling safe.

During this Covid mess, this restaurant is doing all it can to serve its patrons with safety and gracefullness. Food was delicious (as always ); interior was quiet and clean. Outdoor and indoor seating was available. Parking is minimal...but there is a extended lot about 30 yards away. Enjoyed it! Leftovers were an added bonus-very tasty!!

Fast service. Nice patio for outside dining.Lasagna was just layers of noodles and meat sauce with cheese on top. Gnocchi was good but the red wine sauce was not.

Buon Appetito has been around for decades. patio only seating. not all seating has shade. one can get a sun tanned while dining here, a 2 fer.offerings: lots of variants on the standard Italian menu.*bread with tomato, olive oil, cheese dipping sauce. dip tasty. bread blandeats:mozzarella alla caprese(8.95)"sliced riped tomatoes topped with low fat mozzarella drizzled with extra virgin olive oil."-olive oil on side, didn't taste anything special.linguine al frutti de mare(16.95) "linguine pasta with fresh clams, mussel, scallop, shrimp, calamari & in a lobster tomato sauce."-pasta wasn't al dente, just smooth, seafood mostly unnoticeable except for the tasty shrimp. sauce mostly tomato taste.-had lots of grated cheese and some pepper on top.3.5 taste good quantity, average qualitytake outs:-home made fetticuni, ravioli maybe a better choice

Been meaning to try this place out. Opportunity came so we went for a birthday celebration. Nice that they had a parking lot, since street parking not extremely extremely easy or close by in the Hayward downtown area. We were instructed to scan the code to download the menu before seating. We had the calamari appetizer, which was ok. It came with the typical tartar sauce, but the other tomato based sauce was more like a tomato soup. The other problem was that it was not hot, so it must have been sitting out for awhile before being served to us (more on service later). The minestrone soup was just plain awful. It was a very plain vegetable soup with some tomato flavoring, and no pasta added. I had to ask the server to grate some fresh parmesan cheese in it, which did not salvage it. So I recommend that you avoid it.For the main course I had veal that came with vegetables and potatoes. It was rather tasty and the highlight of the evening. So I do recommend it if you go for dinner. We sat outside, which had about 8 to 10 tables (somewhat tightly spaced). It was not very busy, but the server availability throughout the meal seemed to be spotty. She did check on us a couple of times throughout the meal, but there was quite a long interval between each check in. So if we needed something after she checked on us, we would need to wait quite a bit to see her again. All in all, this is an average restaurant, with slightly above average prices ($18 avg dinner entree). Maybe worth a try at least once, but do not expect a mind blowing experience from either a food, service, or ambience point of view. 2 1/2 stars.

This is by far one of the best and most authentic Italian restaurants I have ever been to! I live half of the year in Italy and this restaurant is as good as any restaurant there! I only wish they had a location closer to San Jose, but I will be driving to Hayward as often as possible!

TAKE OUT DURING COVID Update: just wanted to give a shout out to this local favorite for offering fantastic lunch and dinner pick up. We have decided to treat ourselves to lunch from here once a week and it never disappoints. Great lunch portion size of almost everything on the menu as well as great paninis with salad. And of course they give you the yummy bread and dipping sauce to go with. They also give a discount if you order a bottle of wine to go. Support this business if you can!

Food was very good. Service could have been a little better, but I am not complaining. Over all it was good and they have outside seating. Staff was very friendly.

What a disappointment. We had a pizza and calzone a couple of weeks ago and they were great, really good, so we were looking forward to doing it again. Ordered 2 pizzas and 2 salads for pickup tonight, arrived 5min after they were to ready and took them home (5min away). Salads were warm, and pizza was very under cooked and cold - inedible and a waste of $50!

I love the food and the service was great...but when we asked for a spoon for dessert to share we were told (by a server that wasn't ours) there were 3 tables waiting. It appears during Covid you only get 90 minutes to eat appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. I think I will not frequent this establishment for the duration. Too bad. We left our dessert unfinished and paid our $150 bill.

HAVE to do an update to my review, especially during these tough times. I cannot believe it's been since 2007 since I wrote that review. The food is still crazy good. They have expanded to two additional levels plus a patio. With COVID, dine out on the patio or order take out. They are in the process of extending the patio and getting ready for Fall and Winter with heaters. But when it gets colder, you can bring your own blanket. Use the QR code at the front of the entrance to view the menu on your phone and to save trees.During the pandemic, I have had my usual, the spinaci salad and penne alla vodka with broccoli. The fresh bread and dip is fantastic and the zabaglione is a tasty treat for dessert. The lasagne is also heavy and filling - a good bang for your buck. Parking is a plenty with their own lot and more behind the restaurant. Laura and Maria are always welcoming and friendly. The business is family owned and operated. They are open seven days a week. Visit them and support local, small businesses. I will definitely be back!
